Hello Everyone. I am new to cosplay and am quite curious about alot of it. I am a major fan of anime, and am extremely curious how i can find places around me into this. Also I am in need of pointers on how to make some of the costumes. (I am not very good at sewing)
Thnx :p

It kinda depends on where you live...
You can buy costumes or have them commisioned for you ( kinda expensive), or you can just pick easier costumes to start. Perhaps if you look like a character that wears street clothes you could go that route. Post a message of exactly what kind ( or kinds) of costumes you are aiming for, and there are many of us that can help you further...
ha ha welcome to the wonderfully addicting world of cosplay!!!

Well I live in Colorado so im sure that limits a LOT of options for me. Although I did pull a bunch of old costume parts together to make a Guts costume( sry no picture). And as for what kind I don't care as long as its an anime character for the most part. Although I'm wondering about something from Final Fantasy Unlimited.(Great series needs to be put on DVD soon). Maybe Kuroki Kaze... But who knows???

Just because you live in colorado doesn't make it hard for you to cosplay. Heck, I live in Louisiana and I make do most of the time just fine-well, in my opinion.

Yeah. I live in Georgia, and even though it may sound like a backwater cosplay-phoebic state, it's actually known as sort of a cosplay central - a lot of well known cosplayers reside here.

For my first costume I'm doing Shampoo from Ranma. It's simple for my first try. My second thing in mind is a bit more complicating (Rihou from Nightwalker). For my first costume I just have to by a chinese outfit and sew a Cat Cafe logo onto an apron. Also I just have to adjust a wig for it. Very simple!
Start simple.. That's my advice. Sort of like what Blue Lady said. Try something with street clothes.. ^_^

If someone who wears street clothes from any anime/game has a logo on it (like Shindo Hikaru, whose yellow shirt always has a 5 on it) then you can buy a cheap plain shirt, and use that special print wax paper. You get the logo about normal size, print it out, and iron it on. For some reason I feel smart about this post. I've never cosplayed before, but I plan to go as Ichinose Kotomi from Clannad (Clanyad) to Akon 14 next year.

Some costumes can be made from everyday clothes that you can buy. If not, you can buy pieces for it and alter them. Another choice is to rely on patterns.

maybe your parents work for someone who's a tailor? My dad has a few, and they said anytime I need somethin, I can go. Theyd do it for free, so just ask around..

Practice makes perfict, or at least that is what they say. Last year i went as D (everyone should know where he's from). This year i plan on doing something much more difficult, but i have plenty of time to work on it. so if you spend a lot of time you can actually make a good looking costume for a relatively inexpensive price.
