Whee. Well hmm..what can I say about this con... I'm happy with my hall costume award ^_^; My first award ever X3! oOo and I found Anele! YAAAAAYYY!! Karisu-sama's kid (the one with Ken-chu, because I can't think of her character's name at the moment) was SOOO adorable! It was really really great being able to see those whom I have seen since AX, and what not, again ^_^. <_< Ok, I'm done.

I felt more relaxed at that con more than any other con. And the group I hanged out with, they are so nice, I'm glad they helped me out when I was ill. next to that I am happy how good they performed at the masq. "entry 21" they did so well for only having one night to really practice it all out and than in the parts in the morning in costume. I'm glad they did very well. To the five of them, I hope to help you more next time with the skit.

I miss everyone too..... those who I got to take pics with, random people I chatted with and came to Yana's room and all. I had such a good time and it'll just make the next chance something more to look foward to.

jopko: We'll do more fun pics next time! ill probably have my weapon done by that time.... *_*

although i didn't take advantage of much of the programming, the gatherings were still fun. it was also my first masqerade and the first time heading a scavenger hunt. both were good experiences and hopefully will turn out better and better in the future. XD

it was fun getting 2 hall costume awards in less than an hour for hitomi and rinoa. XP

I had an awesome time, and enjoyed seeing everyone I know from the boards in person, along with meeting a few new people! It's always so fun to hang out (even though I was very sick- anyone who talked to me remembers my voice sounded like a cross between Donald Duck and a bullfrog...)

Mini Con Report:

Excellent Sailor Moon gathering on Saturday morning- the pjs were so fun! Thank you to Videl-chan, Missa-chan, Sakurada, Gainax Boy and MPsy of Brilliant Moon for helping to make it happen! And thank you to Arin (also of Brilliant Moon) for taking pictures for us. I also loved seeing the little SuperS Sailor Moon, along with Mysticalchali as Usagi (in school fuku) and her friend Sarah, as the best Jun Jun I've ever seen.

I won my first Hall Cosplay award, and that was a big thrill.

The Brilliant Moon team took third place in the Scavenger Hunt, which was so fun!! We can't wait to do it again next year. Great job, Chaipnai, and Yana! (Loved hanging with you guys too, btw!)

Videl-chan, Missa-chan and I did a little skit in the Masquerade to show off our pjs that featured Chibi-Usa (Videl) stealing the treats that Makoto (Missa) made for Usagi (me). We had a lot of fun.

After the skit, I was very pleasantly surprised to win my first costume award at the Masquerade. I received the Attention to Detail Award in the Journeyman division for my Usagi Pajamas. It was extra exciting because this is the first time I have ever competed with a costume.

We were interviewed on Saturday night by a couple gentlemen doing an indie film on cosplay. They assured me the film will have a positive slant, let's hope so.

Sunday we just wandered around and I was going to attend the traditional Japanese gathering, but apperently no one else decided to do it. Oh well! Maybe next year.

Pictures will be up tomorrow, and I will post in the picture thread when they are up.

I had the biggest piece of chocolate I've ever seen. I finally got to take pictures with a Yomiko that was smaller than me (Chibi Miss Deep). Got to hang out with Serenity and Missa-chan! You two are classy ladies. Can't wait till I have my PJs done! ^_^ I was so happy to see Rogue and now I miss her already.

I'd say this con was a pretty good success. It was nice that it was more low key, that way I had lots of opportunities to meet people I may not have met at larger cons. I'm happy that I met a lot of really great people and can't wait to see all of you again!

Kokuu

That was so much fun- one of the best weekends I've had in a really long time. I already miss everyone! I really enjoyed this con since it was so small, so it really allowed for socialization (as well as me getting to photograph nearly every cosplayer). I’ve met so many incredible people, and it was good to see so many of you guys again from Akibiyori. I can’t wait until next year.

Mini-con report:

The traffic was so horrible that it took me 5 hours from San Diego to get to ALA, so I didn’t get to enjoy much of Friday’s activities, since I arrived really late. But I had fun meeting IRL the IE people, and hanging out.

Saturday, I ran around in my Gunner Yuna costume for most of the morning and took A LOT of photos (near 200). So hopefully I will get those up soon. I didn’t really participate in any of the panels and but I still had a lot of fun getting to talk to so many different people. Oh, and visiting the cosplay repair station (which was a godsend) since my stupid ghetto belt kept falling apart.

I was amazed by the turnout at the Naruto gathering. There was a lot of people there, even for a small con. Did anyone get a head count of how many Narutards there were? I wore my ANBU costume for a little bit, and joined in on the craziness.

The masquerade on Saturday night was a lot of fun, and I was really glad that even though I was participating I got to see the rest of the entries (except for 2 since I tried waiting in line for photos :waaaah: ). I was so nervous, since it was my very first masquerade, and I was completely shocked when I won Best in Show and Best Solo Performance.

I didn’t watch (or pay attention to) most of the Random Ninjas’ Performance, but I did have fun being a dork dancing around to “Haruka Kanata”.

Denny’s tastes great, especially when you haven’t eaten much in over 48 hours. And thank you con suit for providing me with snacks so I didn’t completely starve.

Sunday was pretty quiet, but then Sundays of most cons are. Took a few more pictures, and ran the Final Fantasy panel- which evolved into “group karaoke” based on whatever music I had in my library (which is a pretty big collection). I didn’t double check lyrics, since I finished it at like 5 in the morning, so there were a few screw-ups, and my Photoshop skills are non-existent. It went pretty well. I don’t know if we’ll do the Final Fantasy sing along next year (if we do, I promise it will be A LOT better) but we are definitely planning some “fan karaoke” where anyone can join in.

For my very first cosplaying con, I had a blast. What a wirlwind of a weekend. Sleeping less than 10 hours over the past three days and eating nothing but Jack in the Box and Denny's was great.

I must say, I was just so impressed by everyone there. Everyone I met was so nice. People whose costumes I had admired were so appreciative and chatting it up with people at 4 in the morning was just... f***ing fun. Everyone's costumes were amazing. Keep up the awesome work, all.

Now... If only I didn't have to go to school tomorrow...

I had a blast at this con!! I loved hanging out with my good friends and meeting plenty of new ones as well.

Also, my first time being in a masquerade was great fun - despite the fact that damn near everything went wrong, but that's alright, it was still awesome.

I was glad to finally have a true pirate crew with me for most of the con, and the BIG friggin' flag made its comeback. The photoshoot with us versus the various ninjas on the pond was great, those guys were a riot.

Overall, I loved all of it, and definately look forward to next year.

And just for my roommates (inside joke alert) BRING IT OOOONNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved being so silly this weekend. Being tossed around by pirates and hanging on various guys (such a whoreish wench). It was such an awsome weekend.

Everyone had such awsome costume and all those masqurade awards where so well deserved.

It ended far too quickly. --Tear.-- =(

i had fun, it was a great con (despite the guy at the front desk became evil><) and our stupid room key problem.

Something to remember regarding what the hotel calls them when you ask for another key:

a DUPLICATE key is where you want another key just like the ones that already work;

a REPLACEMENT key is one that works, but all the old ones won't work anymore.

And if you have any real issues with the front desk (like they won't give you the convention rate for all the days, or something) come see me or Christian ("Hazel-Rah") or Joyce (who spent most of the weekend in the Costume Repair Station) -- they have "Speaker to Hotel" ribbons, and I have the "Chair" ribbon -- and we'll straighten it out. Do it BEFORE you check out -- once you settle the bill, there's not much we can do.

And if you are having a party - a private party or an open party - please let us know before the convention, so we can put all the noisy rooms together, a long way from the front desk or anyone who might complain about the noise,

Would you be interested in helping to staff Volunteers? Joyce Hooper ran Costume Repair Station and Volunteers all day, and isn't up for doing both of them again...

Our critical volunteer requirement is to get enough people so that we can have someone in each video room at all times keeping the equipment and the DVDs going. We had a number of times when a program ended and there was "dead air" and the people in the room had nothing to watch...

well this isnt our first time being at a hotel, ^^;; we been to lots. we had duplicates and the problem was the maintanence guy told us that there have been problems with that door lock before too, we couldnt go into our room, and this happened every day like 4-5times, it got really annoying, and they also sent guys out to open the doors to see if the keys really didnt work. on sunday though, the front desk guy became a real jerk, so if they had problems with it before, then i dont see why they dont change the lock then....ghaaaa

I totally agree with the thing about the front desk guy. I... WE... NEVER EVER got hassle at for "being out of the room and talking in the lobby" at ANY convention. it's rediculous. We're not children, we don't have a curfew. We weren't being loud or anything, and nobody else WAS in the lobby. Grr. :/

Yeah, I was told by the man at the front test to "keep it down." I seriously doubt I was being that loud and the night was young, so I don't know . . .

The guy at the front desk in the middle of the night on Saturday/early Sunday was a total jackass. When we called the 24 hour room service listed THREE different places in their book, we kept getting the answering service saying the guy was out on an order. After 45 minutes and several messages, we finally called the front desk where, after informing the idiot answering the phone what the trouble was, he told me: You must be misinformed. *I incredulously stare at the phone* Then I say,"No, it's right here in your hotel room book!' He tells me, "well then you are reading it wrong... we don't have 24 hour room service..." WTF????????????? So I tell him again, I'm reading it right here... and then he tells me its a mistake all snotty like, and is there anything else he can help me with.

I complained big time to the morning manager, who was very nice, and very apologetic. But still... idiots... (oh, and we brought the book down with us... hehehehe)

We're not children, we don't have a curfew. We weren't being loud or anything, and nobody else WAS in the lobby. Grr. :/

I'm so sorry. I had no idea any of this was happening. If anything like this happens next year, please let one of us know. Wake us up if you have to. (I was in room 1007; you can ask the hotel operator for "Chaz Baden's room" if you don't know where I am.) Myself (the chair), our hotel liaison staff (Christian, Joyce), or anyone from Adult Supervision (who will be working out of the Con Ops room).

Of course, next year we'll be in that front part of the hotel...

This year there we occupied over 50 of the rooms in the hotel. Next year it'll be more. I'm going to try to get most or all of them on the ground floor, so we'll "own" the first floor. Stay tuned.

In general I'd like you to think of the convention committee as your allies when dealing with the hotel -- for any reasonable request you may have, we're on your side. I mention this because not all conventions seem to work like that... but the only reason we're having this convention at all is because the members want to attend, the people who've paid for their memberships to be a part of it.

Wow... I'd hate to be contrary.... but we had nothing but good experiences with the Hotel... The staff was really really really nice to us! We never had a single problem.... When the vending machine ate my friend's dollar at 1am, the Guy at the front desk wasn't able to issue the refund... but for our troubles... gave us three bottles of water (you know the ones that were $2 in the room) and we could get the dollar back in the morning.)

I really liked the hotel a lot... Also... for some reason we got a complimentry Newspaper too... um... did anyone else get one?

We got a paper too, and other than the room service issue, I found the hotel staff nice as well, esp. the day manager who accomodated us right away when we checked in even though the computer system was down. I would stay there again.
