This is kinda in response to the other "Thoughts of Katsucon" thread because looking through there, I was a bit sad to see only negative reviews on the con and I felt I couldn't put my own thoughts in there because mine are all positive. ^^;

Yes, yes, the staff were a bit on the bosy side, but put that aside for a moment because in all honesty, the staffs have always been that way in my opinion and it just seemed worse this year because the hotel hallways had less space than the previous hotel. And I do agree a lot of them were really pushing their power, there were still a number of decent staff members too that were just trying to do their job so don't eat them all out.

I personally loved this con A LOT. I think its going down as my favorite con. I spent the whole weekend with a lot of really awesome people and got to converse with many people I've seen on the boards and that made me happy. All my costumes went well and the people I had photoshoots with were all awesome. PLC rocked, of course. And having bought the VIP pass for their concert was definitly worth it. Best concert I've ever seen! They were truly amazing live.

The Masquerade was really awesome! So here's a shout out to everyone that was in it becauase I thought you were all great. I've been a bit sad because I keep hearing a lot of people say "the masquerade was so crappy this year!", mostly on my LiveJournal and that has...well...pissed me off. Especially as most of those people haven't been in skits themselves and don't know how much work is put into them. I think some people are too hard on judging us. I mean, what do they want? For us to jump through hops of fire? XP

I was part of the skit that won Best in Show and I want to say a BIG thank you to everyone that supported us backstage. The Masquerade staff were extremely nice and helpful and all the other skit groups were great to talk to. ^_^ You all made the con a really great experience for our group. Everyone did a spectacular job.

So yes, Katsu did have a few setbacks this year that are need of improvement for next year, but all and all, I thought it was a great con!

Can't please everyone, so of course, you're going to see criticism(petty or legit) from people who didn't enjoy it as much as you did.

Personally, if it wasn't for the people I hung out with, Katsu would've been a huge waste of $50 this year. The masquerade had some really neat skits(the final Hellsing skit was my favorite), but there were too many Naruto ones(as expected). But these are just personal gripes that didn't have much to do with the staff themselves.

Personally, I didn't meet any of the "mean" staff that some people had the misfortune of finding.

I really enjoyed Katsucon, and I think I would both go and volunteer again next year. I met some awesome people, saw some great costumes, and went to some fabulous programming.

In my opinion the logistical problems are far outweighed by how much fun I had.

I had lots of fun, twas a nice stress relief from the previous few weeks. All the staff I met were nice but I guess when you have to tell people the samething over and over again you do get a bit annoyed? Oh well I had mucho fun =D

Well obviously I had a ton of fun at the con due to my post in the "thoughts" topic. The staff was a bit ignorant since everytime I asked a question I never got a good answer. I just had a great time with friends and a little bit of the over 21 stuff. I see how people ran into issues due to space, etc but I still think the pros outweighted the cons by far. *PS I was in the Sheraton*. I kind of wanted to see the cosplay but I haven't been to one since last AMA and I see great costumes in the halls all the time.

Yes Lyn, I think my comment on the first page of the other thread is one of the few positive comments on the con.... I personally had a blast and a lot of fun at Katsucon, but then again I always try my best to make the best and most fun out of a con even if things might be going bad. I try not to let any bad experiences ruin my day and brood over them in a pretenious angst-ridden fashion; that's just stupid. :p

I'm glad that others had a fun time as well and I hope to see a lot of you at either Animazement or Otakon! :jjacks:

See, I rather enjoyed the convention myself (my biggest issues was the random BIG schedule changes and the duel hotels, which everyone and their pet gerbil already addressed.. also I wasn't thrilled on how the hall costume judging process was for me...) I haven't had much luck in enjoying cons before, so it was a welcom change to not get horribly unhappy at it.

...going onstage and winning two awards for being totally insane also doesn't hurt.
