I've heard that most people in ShangHai don't make their own costumes. They join this club and have to pay to rent a costume. I know that for sure because my cousin lives there and she did think about joining but moneywise..well you know.

So erm..what are we meant to be discussing about here?

i have no idea but the costumes r very nice. i know of a few hong kong cosplayers. but cosplaying's really the same, no matter where in the world.

The costumes look really good. :D

Good question, I don't think that there really is anything to discuss here really. This thread might be closed soon, but who knows.

I thought so too. And yes to answer your question, they are beautiful. Cosplay is beautiful as long as the effort is there. =P

If that is true, seems everyone will be the same except their face when they cosplay the same one charatcer

yes,it is true.usually they cosplay one manga ,not only a character.maybe it is a difference between Chinese cosplay and American cosplay.

Yes. Over here we make our costumes because not all the western population is on good terms with cosplay. Infact, I rarely know anyone at my school who actually know what cosplay is.

I'm Chinese (actually, Singaporean Chinese.) And we pretty much get our costumes done ourselves too, (meaning, either sew them ourselves or send them for tailoring).

Tailoring comparing china to Australia, china is so cheap. over here it's like hundreds for something which you can make yourself for under 50. My friend's formal dress was $700 at the tailors when if she had sewed it , it would barely even cost a hundred buckaroonies.

eh... shouldn't this be at the chinese cosplay forums or the gallery thread? o.O??I don't know about that, however, I am glad the post is here … because I would have never known (about these). :)

And also, aren't the (new) Chinese forums for Chinese-speaking/writing cosplayers (& not necessarily a forum to post all things related to Chinese cosplay) ??
'Cause I either get a whole bunch of question marks or the respective correct Asian language symbols when viewing posts in both of the Japanese (http://forums.cosplay.com/forumdisplay.php?f=113) & Chinese (http://forums.cosplay.com/forumdisplay.php?f=114) Cosplay.com sub-forums.

Oh…and found a couple more links to Chinese cosplay images:

The fact is that some Chinese cosplayers don't know how to upload photos, because the standard of english on cosplay.com is apparently too high for them.. I'm not too sure if this is true, but apparently according to what I've seen.. *nods*

*nod* that's what I though first....it's not the standard for english is high....the uploading photo is kind of complex....but I think some chinese accounts are somehow blocked from the system...I tried to help a friend upload pictures but it kept on telling me invalid log in....maybe there's a glitch in the server.....

Eh? Did I say something wrong? *blinks*

Yea I know Most chinese cosplayers know how to read a bit of English, they have to learn it at school.

Oh I might be going ShangHai this year for the Manga con they're having at July 1-5th I think it is. If you see me come and say Hi!! I'll be doing Lacus Clyne and Dita(I'll prolly be the most recognisable one because I'm more likely to be chubbier than everyone else there).

Oh what a pity that Chinese cosplayer don’t can English so well. And I can read or write kanjis just a little little bit. How should we communicate? :p

I’m Chinese and I’m a newbie cosplayer.
I’m from Switzerland - Far away!!

Honto ni? That would be so cool. I'm actually going back to ShangHai this year to attend Jay Chou's concert and my cousin said the manga con was around then so I thought it'd be cool. I think I'll only be going one day though as Lacus, but I think I'll get my notepad ready incase I see Juu-sama I can beg for an autograph. lol

Hmm, speaking of which, anyone know any costume shops in ShangHai? I want to buy some ready mades and I need to buy some fabric for my other cosplays too(velvet is too expensive here).

关于COSTUME的事情, 大部分人在中国是自己去找人做COSTUME的, 但是因为中国比较多COSPLAYER,所以有一些店会有个服务去帮人家特别做COSPLAY的COSTU ME. :)

Basically, what I said was because of the amount of cosplayers in China, they're certain stores which specially sew cosplay costumes in China. Therefore that's where most people get there costumes.

That would be soo cool. I really want to buy some costumes to wear to school and cosplay meetups. Because I hand slow, my costume making process is slow. Now I really love china, despite the fact that our country is in danger coz of them. lol. But hey! Never mix cosplay with politics!

I'm chinese! Though I live in England =[... I was raised in England so my cantonese is very limited DX... though I've been to Hong Kong around 4-5 times and China 1 or 2 times [i really can't remember xD].

Chinese cosplayers ftw! =D

Is cosplaying in Hong Kong fairly popular then? Because the next time my parents take me I might randomly go cosplay xD
