Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle..next world? Otakon!

Hello all you Tsubasa fans ^_^ I'm sure there are others going to Otakon from this great show, so I'm thinking maybe we should all get together and have a little photoshoot.

I'll be dressing as the ever adorable Fai D. Flowright, flowing coats and staff in hand ~_^ I'll be bringing with me my grumpy associate Kurogane-ni and the loveable Sakura-hime.

Who else is destined to end up at Otakon this year? Do we agree that a little gathering might be in order?

If so, it will have to be on Saturday afternoon/evening since that is when my friends and I will be wearing the outfits.

I just checked it out and I don't think my friends and I can go to one at that time. We all have two costumes planned for the day and Tsubasa is our late afternoon/evening ones. I'll have to see what everyone is planning ^^;;

But we could always have two gatherings, just in case there are others that are unable to make it to that one. I know a lot of people at Otakon do multiple costumes and because of this are involved in multiple photoshoots. Thats why I want to make sure we don't interfere with any ^^

Saturday at 2 is when I huge chunk of the photoshoots are taking place: Naruto, Final Fantasy, Shonen Jump, etc. And having all those going on at once might make things very crowded in some key photograph areas. If we aim for a little later in the afternoon, we might be able to avoid some of the rush...and trust me when I say the Naruto photoshoot will have a bit of a rush. We won't want to be messing around trying to get our own photos while that is going on. I actually wanted to go and take pictures of that photoshoot as well cause it promises to be quite large and quite entertaining. ^^''

A quieter time would be around 3:30 or 4 o'clock. This may start to interfere with line up for a concert if there is one this year, but we won't really know until more information about the con presents itself.

But of course I want to see when all the Tsubasa cosplayers are available ^^ If all are going to go to the other time, then we can have it then. I want to make sure we have a time that is convenient for all.

I don't read it either, which is another reason I didn't look at that thread. It would be good to maybe have a big Clamp gathering and then we can break off into little series type groups. That way we could get people from all the series all together in one place. That might be an awesome photoshoot ^^ Tsubasa and xxxholic have so many of the Clamp series in them anyway, it would work well to have one generic photoshoot.

it is still early though as everyone has said although my costume is locked in stone for Saturday. Sometimes it is good to put these things up early though so that it can help people decide what days to actually do what costumes.

I can just see a CLAMP gathering turning out like the FF shoot did at ACen this year @_@ Complete chaos and taking forever to manage. A great big shoot would be awesome, but we would need some serious organization and a lot of people with loud voices.

Why not assign a shoot manager? No one wants to spend forever at a shoot when there is alot to be seen and done at the convention...which yeah, is 3 days long, but it will fly by way quick. So organization must be done!! @_@ Not to mention if it's hot out, standing around might suck for too long. Oh wait, my Sakura costume is white and has a hood...Yay, I'll be able to stay nice and cool! XD

I would like the whole setting of the outside photoshoot but it is WAYYY too hot outside in August in the Baltimore area. In my opinion, I would stick with having an indoor photoshoot. Air conditioning=happy! ^_^

Yea no kidding @_@ I think that the heat and humidity played a lot in some grumpiness among cosplayers and others. So much drama! I second that motion to have it indoors. I don't think there will be so many of us that we would need to go outside.

Quite frankly its uncomfortable in even light costumes. Maybe it's just 'cus I'm a wimpy Hoosier or something, but I mean, they pull photo shoots off indoors all the time at Otakon, unless somebody knows of a really awesome site outdoors? I'm up for cool, close, scenic locations. The costume I want to do is the yellow/18th century esque dress Sakura has on in the opening briefly, I can't see it being too unbareable, no more so than any other costume I want to wear, but yea, I'm up for whatever.

Okay, looks like inside at the fountains is going to be the place to be for the photoshoot. Seeing as how I will be cosplaying Fai in full attire..I'm not going to complain ~_^ We'll have to start thinking about times soon. I wasn't going to be in my costume all day (because of the heat issue). This is actually my evening costume, and was thinking of putting it on after 2 PM. Any suggestions on times? Do we want to have it in conjunction with the XXXHolic gathering?

If I do remember correctly there is a little shaded area with trees and benchs and things across from the convention center. What we can do is have the main gathering at the fountains and then anyone who wants to go outside for smaller shots, we can head there and get some nice outdoor ones.

I can actually take my coats off and just wear the shirt outside (i have all three layers made..yes I'm nuts) so I can probably survive for a little while out in the heat if others are interested in doing this as well. ^_^

Well considering I'll be wearing my costume either Friday or Sunday, haven't decided, more likely Friday, I might have to do some changes at some point, we'll see. *is willing to do anything* haha ^^

I'll be walking around in my Ragnarok Online Monk cosplay most of the day, but I'll be changing into my Sakura hime dress (probably...) for the photoshoot. If I may ask, where are the fountains? ^^;

I can't tell you exactly where... but if you have time to orient yourself to the con center you will find them no trouble. They're really obvious.

Well the FMA shoot is at 11 AM so as long as we don't do it that early (which I can't do it that early either) Then we are good ^^

As long as people know Tsubasa, I think they will recognize you ^^

Okay, so as it stands the XXXHolic shoot is at 2 PM. The FF shoot is also at 2 PM at the fountains...so Yikes. That is going to be an absolutly insane photoshoot and we probably don't want to be anywheres in the vicinity of the fountains at that time because frankly...there won't be much in the way of room left if it is anything like last year. Plus there are about six shoots all scheduled for 2 PM at the fountains. Can we say crazy? Yeah...

Do we want to go later? If we do a shoot at 3 or 3:30 then all we will have at the foundains are Shonen Jump/FF VIII/Yu Yu Hakusho. Much less conjestion.

Or what we could do is gather outside by the trees across from the convention center around 2. Get some outside pictures for those that want to, and then move inside when we get done and do the big group picture at the fountains around 3. That way, anyone that was in the FF shoot would have a little time to get changed if they wanted to be in this shoot as well (I think there were a few that wanted to do that shoot and this one).

Just a few suggestions and observations ^^ Let me know your thoughts

There certainly are a lot of Sakuras but it looks like we are going to have several different of her outfits being shown off too. Sometimes it is good to have a show were the characters actually constantly change clothes. ^^ And Fai is definetly a cutie ~_^ The costume is insane, but well worth it. What version of Fai are you doing? The coats? Shirt? Another of his many outfits?

There are lots of characters not being cosplayed for our shoot so far. Syoaran I believe (has anyone said they were being Syoaran? It is definetly a coat of DOOM. With capitol DOOM. XD Mine is made completely out of flannel so its even hotter then it should be X_x So take that as advice...dont use flannel. I was nearly dead at the end of Animazement and it wasn't even that hot out. So I expect I will be a puddle of Fai by the end of Otakon XD

We could always use more Syaorans even if there is one going considering the amount of Sakuras there will be. With only a couple of Syaorans they will totally be pimping it up XD Its too bad you can't do Tomoyo. That would be totally awesome.

I've added a poll so that I can get an idea what the majority of people want in the way of a time. I think most are leaning towards afternoon, but this will give us a better idea I think. So vote if you get a chance ^^ The options are noon, 2, 3, 3:30, and 4.

I think we all agree that we want to have it at the fountains. Do we want to have a big Clamp gathering or just a Tsubasa gathering? I know I want just Tsubasa pictures, and clamp people are holding a photoshoot on Friday I believe. What does everyone else want? I realize depending on what time we end up agreeing on, might change what kind of photoshoot we have.

There is a restroom right next to the fountains, fyi. My friends n' I pimp that every year! hahah! Its sometimes too much of a hassle to have to walk all the way back to the hotel just to change clothes, so when we know we're going to be a part of a few huge gatherings, we just take our clothes in a bag n' go. It's not like we're going to be wandering the whole con with the bags anyways, just whereever the photoshoot is located. It's also nice to have a friend that can watch yer stuff too, but. ^_~

And is anyone here all that excited about the concert? I'm excited that it's no one that I like so I can spend more time in my costumes and get recognized more. The past two years I've been stuck in the hotel room on Saturdays...(('03 I was stuck in the room till 10PM Sat 'cause I was making Tenguu wigs for my Yami group...'04 I finished my Kuro with barely 16 hours of sleep in a week, and I died shortly after the pics that were taken on my gallery. ^^;;; ))..and yeah! This year I plan to get EVERYTHING DONE ON TIME!!

Its sometimes too much of a hassle to have to walk all the way back to the hotel just to change clothes, so when we know we're going to be a part of a few huge gatherings, we just take our clothes in a bag n' go. It's not like we're going to be wandering the whole con with the bags anyways, just whereever the photoshoot is located. It's also nice to have a friend that can watch yer stuff too, but. ^_~

2 PM Is going to be cosplay hell. And I'm sure that there's other people out there like me who would like to get pics of the groups around that time, ((aka Naru-tardou! XD~))

Plus, as we all can see, (( ^_~)), Masayume is DYING to have the time be earlier. heh! Not just her tho, but so is Aer because of the concert line, ((right?)). Sooo....

...Is 1PM a bad time? I don't think we'll take a FULL HOUR to take photos. I've been in like, god, 7 photo gatherings in my lifetime of cosplaying, and the longest one lasted 20 minutes. ^^;;;

So yeah, that way, the people that need to get to other places/gatherings can and not worry. And we could possibly try for another shoot later at night??

Sometimes my cosplay group n' I meet alot of cool people at these gatherings and we'll get together again later and just have a silly/randomness photoshoot, where we all go wild! XD~

Tohma-kun, I think you should maybe make a list of who will be what and make sure everyone either votes or ask them what else they have planned, that way we all can get together at a good time and make sure of it? As far as I know, the concert is going to be on Friday this year and not Saturday. It will be like the Angela concert last year. I think they wanted to avoid the whole mess they had last year with pushing into the Masquerade time. So that should free up some time for everyone ^^

I was planning on making a list actually ^^ It seems we think alike. I'll make that my next post so that everyone sees what we have in the way of costumes and times that people wanted.

I do want to accommodate as many people as I can. I don't plan on even putting my costume on until about 2 PM. (Any other Fais out there can understand that I want to be in three layers of hot coats in as little time as possible XD)

Well, I can still be flexible, I was just hoping we might try for earlier but if we can't, no big deal.

All I know is I actually started sewing on my Sakura costume today (cut it out last night) and I've kicked a major dent into it, making me have hope that I'll actually get it finished in time for Otakon. (I was scared it might not be.) Tomorrow I have to go pick up some of the bells and whistles, but so far the costume looks like it won't get as much out time as I hope. *sighs* Last year I had one costume this year I'm going to have four, I have no idea how to really divide them up especially with Saturday having to at least get judged for my FY costume at some point. Maybe I can get a later judging time @_@

But so far I'm reserving Saturday morning and afternoon for Sakura. So... here's to it all working out. *crosses her fingers*

See, this is what I'm seeing. I'm seeing us, no matter where we go on Saturday, there will be a zoo all around us. Aka meaning, we prolly won't get many cool shots or pics of what we want. It may end up just being a big gruop shot where when you look back at the pic, you can't see where you are.

So yeah, I don't think that anyone should worry if you make it or not, 'cause all of us can still meet up later and do our own thing, ya know? It'll practically be the same thing. ^^

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I'll be getting pictures outside before we do our photoshoot, or directly afterwards depending on when we decide to have this and how anxious I am to get into the costume ^^; I've opened this up to anyone else who wants to do as well. I know that the fountains aren't going to be too friendly to smaller shoots with how busy they normally are.

Well Tohma and I have even been tossing around the idea, for those who will be there, perhaps throwing on our costumes Thursday night just for fun? I suggested it just because I still am shakey on the photo shoot and such, but really want pictures with people. Well, my Sakura costume is completely finished, thank god. Basically, I'm all set for Otakon, cept for messing with wigs on my two other costumes.

Now... there's still the matter of the shoot I'm concerned about. My FY shoot centers around this shoot so I'm trying to get everything straight. Now, I was reading the CLAMP/CCS shoot thread and I recall something mentioned about our shoot technically being part of that one and whatnot.

Is it really going to be at 3:30? Is there absolutely no way we can do it earlier? I don't want to be a whiner, I really don't, but I was really looking forward to this and as flexible as I'd like to be I'm just concerned about trying to fit in as much as possible. And since our thread kinda died I was searching for an excuse to dredge it up again ^^;;; so excuse my whining.

I'm hoping to get contacts... just for the mere fact that my glasses drive me nuts at cons. I went last year and at ACen this year with them and I've had ENOUGH! So yea, totally checking into some soon. Sakura's eyes, thankfully, are green, and I can fake green decently enough depending on the mood my eyes are in lol yay hazel. Since I'm hoping to get a green and blue set for Yuna as it is, maybe I can actually have nice bright green eyes. Though with your costume DLGR the red contacts definitely add the nice detailed touch.

LOL! Wow! I don't think my eyes can take both the prescription and the color! I mean, my eyes are a redish brown color, and that will hve to do. Back when I did Yuna i did colored contacts, but honestly, the effect was only useful in a character with trademark eyes. I think with Kuropin it will be awesome, but only because his eyes are so trademark.

Anyway, I'm really excited to see the cosplays that turn out! I'm almost done with my costume! Hope everyone else is doing well!

Yay for contacts for cosplay ^_^ I just bought some perscription Sharingan contacts for my Uchiha (naruto) cosplay. i wear contacts on an everyday basis though (I'm almost legally blind X_x) so getting used to them shouldn't be too much of a problem for me...hopefully they'll be shaped basically the same as my actual contacts. This will be the first time I've ever actually gotten contacts for cosplay purposes though ^_^ Last year I tried to get black ones/grey ones for my Hatsuharu (furuba) cosplay but sadly my perscription is so strong that they couldn't get them.

I do think the contacts add a little to the cosplay no matter who it is ^^

You got a shiringan contact? Where do you find specialized contacts like that? I'm not currently interested in say, naruto, but I have been previously interested in colored contacts for people with high natural prescriptions. So where did you find that?

Yea, it shouldn't be like say... a Final Fantasy shoot where it takes 30 minutes alone to get everyone organized and THEN take the pictures which then takes another 30-45 minutes. I'm thinking you should have plenty of time. I think this is why I participate in the contest, all I gotta do is walk across stage and I've got a good guaranteed seat lol. I swear if I win anything it'll be a miracle.

I really can't wait to see what everyone's going to turn out in.

And don't forget guys, we can have extra fun early if anyone's arriving on Thursday and feels a hankering to wear a certain costume sooner do so! I'll be running around in my Sakura that evening, just probably hanging out. I know I've pestered Tohma about it. Adding onto the "omg liek I'm cosplay as ___" list... ~_^ I'll be coming on Saturday as Fai, but as the Celes version found on the cover of volume four. ^^ You know the one... with the insaaaa~ne amount of blue pattern markings on the back of the coat. Hee. ^^ I'll also have in our group a Tomoyo, Kurogane, Syaoran, Seishirou, and a Yuko. Sadly no Sakura though! Weh.

Speaking of that, I won't be able to make it to the CLAMP gathering due to the fact that Vic's "Fullmetal Fantasy" panel is at the same time and the Voice Actors panel is right after that. (FMF is from 2:30-4:00 and VA is from 4-5.)

The group photoshoot is the ALL CLAMP Photoshoot at the fountains at 3:30 on Saturday.

My friends and I are gathering at 2:30 across from the convention center in the shaded area for a mini Tsubasa photoshoot. Basically my friends and I were going to get a bunch of funny/shonan ai/artsy shots and I've opened it up to anyone who wanted to come and get some smaller 1 person/2person/3 person/smaller group character shots before we do the whole big CLAMP and cast shoots inside.

So thats the current deal ^_^

All the Sakuras were beautiful, the Fais cute, the Kuroganes intimidating, and the Syaorans well done...I was most impressed by all the props everyone brought!!
