2 part question: it looks like i will probably end up dying some spandex to make my next costume. it sounds from previous posts i will probably need acid-dyes correct?
2nd part, ive never had to dye anything before, so im afraid ill screw up how much dye i put in, so i was gonna ask ppl how much u think i need to produce 2 colors
the orange and blue/grey color:

Zasshu...
Hey =] Sorry to be ther bearer of bad news, you can't dye spandex. The only fabrics you can dye are natural fabrics. If you are looking for something stretchy that you can dye try white cotton-lycra. It is mostly cotton, awesome stretch, and takes dye perfectly.

Nylon will take dye; it's only polyester that won't take dye AFAIK. I've used Dylon dyes on nylon, but had to pretty much boil it. ^_^;
I don't understand why you would use pieces covered in spandex. Could'nt you just make it like armor and then paint it afterwards? Or is that too much work?

wha? (Tia) cover which what armor? im confused. im gonna make parts of the armor hard, and parts soft (like the abdomen and shoulders) but straight foam pieces for soft stuff i think looks pretty junky, so when you cover the foam with fabric, it smoots out any rough edges and such, and makes the look of foam (all the little bubbles) go away.
ive decided that im going to airbrush the color on, i dont think dye will work, and will probably get better results from an airbrush
