Hi.I'm going to a con soon and this will be my first time going dressed as a cosplayer.I need to get a pair of zori(sandals usually worn with tabi) and a pair of tabi. That leads me to my first question.Does anyone know where i can get a pair?I would like to get them from within the untied states.Second,i'm trying to find out what that hat that i have seen japanese monks(might be preist but not sure) is called and where i can get something like that?Any help would be appreciated.

For the zori and tabi, try any of the stores listed here:
http://www.i2.i-2000.com/~maureenh/kimono/k_links_stores.htm

if you're looking for the zori made with tatami, you can probably find them in a martial art supply store.

Is the hat one of these?:

I've seen similar in Chinatown...

*snort*. ;) Sorry, I can't help here. Every time I know somebody who's going to Japan, I just have them buy me a couple of pairs of tabi while they're there.

AnimeParty,i'm going to Anime Boston 2003 and i'm attending as Kaos (called the ancient one in the american version) from Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers(ronin warriors).Kaos is a monk and his costume looks alot like Raiden from Mortal Kombat. The only two minor differnces. One he(kaos) has a staff and his outer part of his costume is blue instead of the grayish color.

hikura - I'd love to come, but the 24-26 is the week of my midterms and I couldn't afford to miss that, plus I think its a bit too far for me to travel, so I'll pass thanks anyway. I'm going to the Shoujo con, BAAF and AnimeNEXT this year. The AnimeNEXT is 20 min away from us this year ^_^
