I'm new to this , so please bare with me if I ask all the crazy questions.

I'm male, but I really love the Salior Scouts. I've been toyimg with the idea of doing my first costume for one of these events. ( I usually just toss on a lame robe)

I know several males that go as female characters, so this is where you nce folks come in.

I'm dark skined with dark hair, and I want to dress as Sailor Mars.

Where do I start, what do I do, where can I get an outfit, and is this even a good character to start CosPlay with?

Like I said... all the crazy questions

haha! Sailor Moon was my first cosplay ever. XD It was so pathetic, but so fun because it was like a male in a sailor scout costume! XD Where to begin.. well you've seemed to begun all ready! Choosing a character to cosplay can be really difficult. After that - you have to look at your costume creation skills. Do you know to sew? Do you know how to read patterns? Do you have good judgement on colour, size and accuracy? Once you've judged yourself, figureout how to go at creating this costume. If you have no clue how to use a sewing machine - it can be really good to learn to use one - but if you're really wanting a costume without the wait of learning and developing your sewing skills, I recommend you getting one commissioned. I don't know which place is the best, but I bet people here would be able to tell you.

I hope my little bit of advice is all right ^^; Just another thing - Crossplay (That's the term used when people cosplay the opposite gender) may (actually, WILL) get mixed up for cross dressing to people who don't understand the concept of Cosplay. So, I warn you that when you crossplay, especially male to female, you'll get stereotypes by people outside of the cosplay/anime convention community. Don't worry about that behaviour within this community though!

I hope I haven't scared you.. I just thought I'd share that with you because I've recently been accused of being things that I'm not due to my crossplaying. I shared some pictures of me in my Lulu costume and people were telling me that I don't have to dress as women to express my homosexuality and that I should stop wanting to be a women. Just because I crossplay they assume I express my homosexuality and want to be a women. I am openly gay, but I do not crossplay because I'm gay. I also am very happy with being a man. XD Really.. Just ignore the close-minded people. Don't worry about anyone here, though. There is problem whatsoever with crossplay. The people really love my crossplay ^^d ..same at conventions. You just have to be strong and don't let the idiots get to you.

Thanks Nine for the advice. I have cross dressed in the past as a cheerlaeder, so I know the questions about being gay do come. I don't give a rat's arse about what people think about my hobby. I'm straight but have not had a gilr friend in several years, so people talk.

Crossplaying is something I want to try and was looking for a group of people that would understand what I was trying to do. Now if I can just find the outfit some place...

OH HELL YES! Crossplay! I love you already! (j/k, I'm not a stalker or anything)

I know of a really good pattern to use to make a Senshi fuku in about 2-3 hours...

And my SM cosplay group welcomes crossplay. Our back-up Sailor Pluto is a boy. Everyone should appreciate the wonder that is a boy in a Sailor Fuku! *laugh*

Good luck with your costume. I wanna see pics, ok!?

TsukiGuujin....

Thanks for the kind words of support.
I tryed to put on the Cheerleader outfit I used and it don't fit, so before I do anything I need to loose a few pounds.

I can't think of anything less attractive that a beer belly boy sailor girl (But that's just me)

So, after I get back into shape, I'll see about finding a Saiolr Mars fuku.

I'm still open for ideas on how to get one as I can't even thread a needle.

I have been checking out the photo's on the profiles and I am overwelmed with the tellent in this group!

Looks like I found the right group of people to hang out with.

And for the record, you can stalk me all you want

Thanks again
