I'm a real cosplay newbie, I just got interested in it a few months ago, and want to start my first costume now ^_^

Problem is, I'm not really sure how to make a pattern. o_0 Thanks to some nice people here, I've got some great reference pictures now, but I'm not quite sure how to translate them into a pattern. The only things I've really made before were things I already owned (ie pillow cases, pencil cases, t-shirt), so I could look at them directly (or take them apart) to see how they were made, so I could use them as a pattern.

Any suggestions?

Thanky!

There are two good ways to make a pattern. The first is to buy a commercial pattern which is somewhat the right shape of the clothing you are making, and modify it. The second is to take a piece of clothing you already own and use something like newspaper to make a pattern based on that. Depending on how difficult the costume is, you might need to make some mock-ups with newspaper and practice trial and error until you are happy with the design.
