*was a bit weary to start this because shes so new* and. .same with my sewing skills *pleh* but I thought I would make myself known and I had been extremley hesitant to go to any cons because I dont know hardly anyone heh but Im moving towards doing my first at the Expo in July as *dun dun dun da!* Kairi

Hey there! No problem, everyone has to start from something, right? Kairi doesn't sound so bad for a beginner, I think her clothes are (relatively) easy to make.

And you should go to cons even if you don't know that many people. You can always ask someone from here to meet up with you. ^_^

so'k my brother is the only one who is gung-ho to go to cons with me... my bf think's thier fun... but he likes to save his money and go to only the Otakon... (now he is in Japan anyways...waaaa!) I am trying to introduce my other friend to them... so the Katsu will be his first... other than that I drag friends who are remotely interested into going with me!!! I wouldn't have fun by myself I think.

As for cosplay... my 1st con was the otakon 2001... and I was like... OMG I am not dressing up like a dork! (sorry guys) but when everyone was there and having so much fun... I wish I had!!! So since then... I can't wait to dress for the next one!

Vinya: Heh well ya never know with me! But Kairi. .half of its done *tear* so proud of myself. .heh and one of the major pluses of something like this was in hopes of meeting others who wouldnt mind being my guides for the first time through this (nehehe poor suckers ^.^)

rpd_girl: At first I had NO idea what cosplay was. .and I started looking into it and thought O.o . .but the more Ive looked into it and talked to those who like - Ive met same awsome people and I love dressing up as others and parading around as them hahaha too fun XD

My only real problem is working the money system to fly/drive out to these *none too rich of a college student right here* >.<

I think I like dressing because like, Halloween is my favourite holiday ever... and I just love dressing up! It is like, you get to be anything you want. Like, I allways wanted to be a cop... so alot of the characters I like are cops (can ya tell?) I don't do the skit and play part of it... I just like making and wearing the costumes... skits and stuff are a bit too far for me... <<is bashful.

yeah... I just finished my Natsumi costume (You're Under Arrest) and I was like... I wanna wear it to class tomorrow!!! I know there are alot of strange people in college... but everyone would be like... "so, when you join the force?" My mom said I looked like the girl from JAG. LMAO!

Jill was my 1st costume... (and only until recently... I have like, 4) I wanted to be her for Halloween in 99... but figured noon would know who I was... then I was going to dress as her for Otakon 01... but was to selfconcerned... but then I wished I had when I saw a Leon! So, for my next con I dressed and it was soooooo much fun! I felt like a celebrity! I was the only RE person there... and poeple loved my costume... I felt so loved. I'm telling you... it is so much fun... but!... be aware of nasty sweaty (and they are sweaty) fanboys. This one guy wanted a pic with me... and he like grabbed me around the waist and pull be against him... I was like... ew! lol... I'm the kinda person who likes a personal bubble space around her.

It's kinda funny too.. I had younger girls come up to me and tell me how cool I am and how much they'd like to dress as me... like I was Jill... I guess it is just surprising to me... Like, if I wasn't dressed up... I'd most likely be invisible... strangers even invited me to parties. I'm not sure if that is good or bad...

And like people saying "Jill! I love you!! can I have a hug!?" and I still don't get the "free hugs" thing... I guess I never will.

Anyways... I am rambling... it is late... sorry! :p

thats the one thing I'm trying to get over NOW. .being all selfconcious about going to these (I'll tough it out heh) because they really do look like a LOT of fun - or I doubt so many people would fly around the country for these gigs.

I'll admit it I LOVE attention. .but I dont go out of my way to seek it - so hopefully I can do Kairi justice for those who enjoy her and the game that'll definatley put some pride into the costume XD

i know got in on the thread a bit late...but welcome. ^^; jus b/c ya dont know many ppl doesnt mean a con is to be nervous. cosplaying is a great way to meet ppl. i never met half the ppl that i did when i wasnt cosplaying. but if ya wanna chat or something ya can always chat if ya want ^^;; i am always happy to make new friends ^^;

(and maybe this still isnt a viable excuse LOL) I could very well be the only person in my state that likes it so Id more than likely end up going across state borders all alone O.O (and I believe the parents would have a bigger issue with that than me LOL) heh but thanks! I'm gonna try and let that not stop me (the biggest one is work/money obstacles *grr*)
