Hey! Me and my friend are going to Otakon 03. I might cosplay, but hes debating.

Im:
Age: 14
Height: 5'0
Weight: 75 lbs
Look: Shorter, Skinny build, Black hair, straight bangs down to just above my eyebrows. Blue/Green/brown eyes (changing)

I've been reccomended to be:
Shinji (I think its too bland)
Squall: I dont quite have the hair, and eh, leather is expensive.
Sora: My top pick right now, I would love to make a Key blade, the only thing i cant do is Yellow shoes, so im thinking just boots.

My Friend:
Age: 14
Height: 5'2
Weight: 120
Look: Blonde hair, Kind of wild...short neck, round, kinda pudgy face. Blue eyes.

My Reccomendation to him was:
Seifer
Vash (Clothings a biatch)

What _exactly_ do you need the help with? Do you have any sewing skills or know anyone with any? You should start there before deciding what character to be. ^_^

As for Squall, you don't have to buy leather. You could always use pleather, or even vinyl.

Like Jinx said, if you sew, there are alternatives to materials and you can always alter or build off something else. If you can't, commissioning a costume isn't a bad idea.

Yes, comissioning is pretty good. Personally, I don't because I enjoy making costumes. For leather you can buy any material that resembles it. Some materials have already been stated. As for vash, well, that is hard for a newbie. I wouldn't attempt it. If you get a specific question you could always ask it on here. ^_^ I never know how people get those collors to stay up.. O.O And about the hair thing, you don't always have to have the hair they do. It helps being precise though. My suggestion, if you reallY REALLY want to play something with complicated hair, is to buy a wig. Easy to style and all you have to do is put it on when you go to a con. ^_^

Hope I helped..

If you decide to commission, let me know. I've got lots of names I can recomend.
Good luck with your costume. ^_^
