Hey im new and i got some questions

hello im new here! and i got these questions;

im an aspiring cosplayer but i dont know anything about cosplay.... can you guys give me some info on what Cosplay is how it started and how it developed into what it is now.... or can you give me a webpage that would give me that information... thanks a bunch! :D

Well, there are a lot of people out there better suited to answer this than me, but I got here first. :P Lol

Well, Cosplay is dressing as a characters, typically from anime/manga/ video games, but sometimes it refers to original creations, fantasy, or sci-fi, etc... You can buy a costume through comissions (there are a bunch of comissioners on these boards) or create one yourself. You can buy clothes new, from thrift stores, and place them together or just buy cloth and make them yourself. It doesn't really matter.

Cosplayers usually go to cons and such. Anime/sci-fi/ fantasy or even holloween and stuff.

As for where it started, I don't know. I beleive I heard it started at sci-fi cons, but the name cosplay came from japan, but I'm not sure. Others can answer that part better than I possibly can.

There really are no restrictions on cosplay. It is just dressing up as a character basically. There are restrictions if you sign up for a masquerade or something like that. ^_^
