Just last year, I went to my first anime convention and suddenly I wanted to cosplay. The problem is, I don't remember how to sew anymore (took a lifeskills course in middleschool) and I know I could comission, but I won't learn anything if I do that. So right now, I'm trying to figure out who to cosplay as.

Also, I'm wondering if I could cosplay as a random original character without looking stupid. I get nervous just thinking about it. Because I have this black embroidered qing dynasty shirt I got from China and I never used it except for in Halloween when I tinted part of my hair blue, tied my hair in pigtails, wore black lipstick, wore big black wings, and black lace gloves.

Or, I might be thinking about dressing as Count D from Petshop of Horrors (I'd probably need a q-chan plushy to be recognizable), but the qing dynasty shirt is not really what he has ever worn om amy manga. It's similar to what he wears, but not quite.

Ack! So many decisions! Any suggestions are welcome!

welcome to the boards Hotaru Kageshi ^^ it's prefectly fine to cosplay as original characters, people do it all the time and as long as you're having fun what does it matter ne? Count D is a very cool costume and I hope you decide to make it. so far I've only seen one and it was pretty damn good so if you search around you can probally find it. If you post a pic of yourself or a description peeps can suggest costumes but w/o we're kinda at a blank. Also what shows do you watch /like because that should come into play when deciding to make a costume. anyways feel free to pm me anytime if you ever need help on costumes or anything of that sort ^^;;

Okies, I shall give a description.

Age: 17
Height: 5 something...it was 5'4 according to my school nurse when I last checked.
Weight: around 160's (>_< gaah...I hate my weight)
Hair: black layered cut, shoulder length right now and highlighted with brown
eyes: dark brown
Gender: female
Favorite anime/manga: Petshop of Horrors, Angel Sanctuary, Yami no Matsuei, Count Cain, Nightwalkers, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Slayers and a lot of others...but I didn't feel like naming them.

I think you'd be a good Alexiel or another angel from Angel Sanctuary =D However, those are hard costumes, and you might want to start off easy.

Count D would be easily recognizable. Go for it, if you already have that in mind. Of course, original characters are okay too. ^_^

Have you considered cosplaying as Keiko? Shoulder length layered hair sounds about right for her, and the school uniform is pretty simple. Or do you want a challenge (this is one of my biggest faults....I have to pick the difficult ones. Argh! Alucard....what am I thinking...*sigh*)?
