Yo everybody!
No, your eyes do not decieve you! We want to bring the Rum Party up North! If you've were at Ani-Magic '05 or Anime-LA '06, chances are you know what this is all about. If not, then read on!
The Rum Party is an all-ages party that several friends and I first started at Anime Expo '05, where it was basically an unofficial gathering. We had a gambling corner and an auction. It's turned into much more since then! This will be the fourth Rum Party we host. We serve up iced tea (our "rum") and set up several games to play, and events to take part in. Playing games is a good way to win gold coins, which can be used in the pirate/wench auction at the close of the party. Taking parts in events is a good way to win prizes and challenge each other to see who's got the most pirate in 'em.
Unfortunately, many members of the Rum Party crew won't be attending Sakura Con, so it won't be as big as it was at Ani-Magic or Anime-LA. However, it's always a blast and a great way to meet new people. Plus, it's pirate themed, so i fyou have an old pirate or wench costume collecting dust, bring it!

On to the list of games:
1. Gambling - Ye Olde Schoole way of winning gold coins! Play against our dealer in a game of cards (usually Black Jack, but other games get played as well) to win some gold.
2. Shotglass Checkers - Think you're a hard drinker? Play some shotglass checkers (we use Brainwash soda, which burns the throat x_x ) And see if you've got the gall to win.
3. Shooting Range - Try your skill with a rubberband gun and shoot down plastic bottles. You win 2 gold coins for every bottle (ten bottles in all).
4. Ale Chugging - For those who would rather just drink and not play checkers, see if you've got what it takes to down an entire mug of Root Beer at once.
And for the events:
1. Auction - Use your gold coins at the end of the party to bid on a pirate or a wench as an escort for the dance! It's a great way to meet new people as well.
2. Swill Contest - Useing various drinks (supplied by us) make a concotion of your own to put up before our judges. The person who can make the best tasting drink mix will be named Swillmaster, and win some prizes!
3. Captain's Challenge - Think you've got what it takes to be a pirate captain? Let's find out! This is a multiple stage contest between several players to see who can rack up the most points at various games. The winner will recieve prizes!

Unfortunately, since we haven't been to this particular con center, there will not be a Treasure Hunt. However as long as we find a decent location in the con area, we'll still have an awesome party!
