You may want to try http://blueperiod.suddenlaunch.com/index.cgi ; It's run by Blue Period (who happens to be very knowledgeable in such matters ^-^) and there are lots of other lovely lolis who would jump at the chance to help. ^-^o

That should help! It's the best tutorial I've found for a dress online.

Meiki: That's a nice tutorial...!
As long as you wear a blouse underneath, it should be fine. ^_^

I'm sorry, but I was slightly bothered by the "costume" word. It's not a costume...it's an outfit.

Aw, don't worry...
You know, to some it's a costume, and to other's its everyday attire!! :bigtu:

i am also a bit bothered by the word costume, but since some people treat it as such, ah well~ call me an eliteist if you want, but "general EGL costume" is not a proper phrase in my book. :P
but that is a very nice tutorial there! :D i wish i could try it out sometime! :D (i need more lolita outfits badly. >>)

anything and everything can be a costume. movies have modern fashion peices as costumes, plays as well.

if a costume is a thing an actor wears- and Lolita's are attempting to recreate a child-like persona.. then, technically, you're wearing a costume. But then girls who wear high fashion and attempt to recreate a model-like aura are also wearing costumes.
I know that's off topic- but that's something I've wanted to clarify for a while now. ^^

Eek, eek, cosplay drama! XD
I'm a rather eccentric dresser, and people always ask why I'm wearing what I'm wearing, usually referring to it as a costume. "This is just how I dress", I always reply, but they usually don't understand. I'm a costumer of life, honestly. Everything is a costume. Especially when I'm in jeans and a t-shirt. Never have I felt more disguised, haha.
EITHER WAY.
That dress tutorial up there, the one on craftster? AMAZING. I'm not using it for a lolita dress, but for a stage outfit I'm making (I'm a musician), and it's fabulous. I'll post pictures when I'm done, even though it's not necessarily lolita just to show you how it went. Seriously, I'm a big fan. I hate using actual patterns, I always have to make my own, so that tutorial was RIGHT up my alley.
Hope I helped at least a little, despite how off-topic and rambling I am.
Love,
