I'm planning to attend a convention at the end of next month as a Gothic Lolita of some sort, and I need a little advice, or rather I just need people to throw a load of suggestions at me so I can pick one.
First, I need a bag, I want it to be all black to match my costume, and large enough to fit what I need in it.
Second, My hair..... It doesn't like to be styled really....so aid me please. My hair reaches my upper back, and my bangs reach my chin.
Anything will help, believe me. Oh, and if I don't respond and you have a great suggestion please PM me. Thank you.

for a bag, tote bags with lace on them are really popular with lolita. tr your hand at making your own, or at least sewing lace onto an exsiting black tote.
as for your hair, it leems fine on its own. just wear a headress and keep your bangs in front of it, and you should be fine. you do not need fancy styles to have good lolita hair. :P (if you do not have a headress and your hair can take it, out your hair in two little tiny buns on top of your head with the rest down, and wear whatever hairclips, bows, or flowers you have on the buns. that would be cute. <3)

Thank you very much. I was also thinking about the tote bags, cuz I tend to carry around a lot of things I figured it would be just the right size, plus all the stuff I might get at the con. And I do have a headress, just got it last week. I thought about having my hair, all that is behind the headress, in two sort-of-high pig-tails, and just leave the stuff in front......however looks best. I think that might be good. Thanks for your opinion again.
It's super easy to take an existing bag and lolitify it! I recently found a little basket-style bag at Kmart and fancied it up to match a sweet lolita dress I'm making - you can see it here (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=711545). You could use lace/trim/what-have-you to match your outfit and add it to a plain bag very easily. ^_^

i find that unless you have short hair or ringlets, high pigtails do not look very nice with lolita. o-o even low pigtails are not great, but at least better...

Dia: Nice bag. I'll try and see what I have around here.
Nina: I know. But my hair isn't all that long, I recently cut it, and its layered, so when I pull it into pig-tails it looks short. You're right though. I tried the same things a couple weeks ago with longer hair and it looked......not pretty at all. Oh, and I'm gonna try to get ringletts, any suggested hairspray? I tend to mess with my hair without meaning to.

I really like hairspray from Beyond the Zone. : D ~ Or there's this one hairspray by Dove that works really well for natural movement in the hair instead of being rockhard and it still holds well~

Nina: The one exception is if you go Shimotsuma on us and do two high pigtails with the top layer of your hair and let the rest hang down.

i did not think of that. o-o i like that idea! :D
too bad my hair is too thin to make two pigtails with without having any hang. XD

Thin hair isn't a bad thing! At least you don't have a bush on your head! XD

Thanks. I also tried this and it does look good on me....so....I might try something like that. But my hair is hard to put in high anything.

You could try pinning back loosing the hair off the sides of your face with a vintage barrette or something and loosely ringlette the part pulled back? That way your hair doesn't look too short. Then going around randomly and curling the top layer of hair and VERY Loosly curling the bottom, just enough to give it wave. That way the longest layer looks curly but still allows your hair to look long.

Nice suggestion. All I need is a curling iron though. I'm not sure what size to get though. I want Mana-like / Doll - spiral. Anyone know what size is best for that? I'm think about going tomorrow and getting the last things I need for my costume.

Just an inch and a half one should be good. The barrel of the iron will be the shape the ringlets come out, so look around and see. I wouldn't spend more than 40 bucks on one though, I think they're all the same after this long. --;

Yeah. There was a nice one I saw at a county fair, but it was $80. So I decided I'd just go to Sally's and see what I can get.
