And if so, are you looking to buy a pair of the rockinghorse shoes? Not real VW shoes, but Department 69 special order ones? If so, PM me, please!

Anywho...

What are your opinions on Rockinghorse shoes, and why? Do you like them, or do you hate them? Would you ever buy a pair, or do you already? This is just a general discussion about Rockinghorse shoes, and if you think they're loli or not. That's about it.

You can buy them from a lot of places... The cheapest is on eBay from the store "Refuse To Be Usual", but they aren't the highest quality. The picture shown here are shoes from xx69thxx I believe. They're a little more expensive, but it's the EMS shipping that gets you. Then you've got Double Decker and Vivienne Westwood, but they're a lot more expensive than the others.

I just recently ordered mine from Double Decker, and I adore them. I've loved Vivienne Westwood for ages, and since I can't afford the real thing, I decided to get the DD version, haha. Mine are a 23.5, which fits my US6.5-7 feet quite well, and they're quite comfortable.

As for being loli or not, I think they add a little bit of fun and style to a traditional loli outfit. They're a bit quirky, and a bit high fashion, which I really like. ^_^

(Here are mine, btw - http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=709784 and I got them from Double Decker here - http://www.d-decker02.com/ )

Haha... Well, if anybody can afford $800 VW shoes, I'd be surprised!

Yeah - 6.5's aren't hard to find. They're a pretty common size.

Those are amazing shoes!
Glad I'm not the only one with size 11 shoes. XD;;
Buuut, alas, I've got no money, or I'd definitely take them off your hands if you haven't already sold them!!

I think they're work well for loli, not for your average-traditional lolita style, but maybe for a more casual, quirky, care-free, easy-going type. ^^

TeddyBearNarcs

These shoes are almost staples in Lolita clothing. They originally come from Vivienne Westwood, but many have made knock-offs, as seen here. :D What do you mean by "average-traditional lolita style"? As in classical or country style? Or something else...? Because I seriously think I'm lost... Haha. ((Maybe it's the fact that it's midnight?))

And I have two pairs ((one white, one black)), but a friend of mine had to cough up the money for the extra pairs for the group order, so she's trying to sell them to other girls with large(r) feet. ;)

XD I am one of those girls, with larger feet.

I mean, classic, lace and frill lolita-dress with the ideal shoes, like those seen up there. ^^

I think these shoes are soooooooo adorable... I wish I had more money!!! I have sort of similar ones that I got at hot topic... they're wedge style but they lace up like those ones... I pretty much got them cause they were the most similar ones I could find and they were $40.

TeddyBearNarcs
06-27-2006, 05:23 AM
Cat: It takes a bit of walking to get used to them, but they're really comfy!

Aurora: Ballerina style shoes seem to be really big right now, so I'm not surprised. ;P But then again, Hot Topic doesn't have a bad selection in shoes... >_>

hehehe, i have a bunch of pairs... i like my pink ones best:

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=717893

but i also like 69th dept ones, because they look more cutesy... DD is very very ballerina-like! i highly suggest replacing the ribbon with long ribbon when you wear them without socks or stockings, they really look good with normal clothes!

i find them a lot easier to walk around in than all my platform shoes and such; though i have a bad habit of rocking back and forth when i'm wearing them and standing in line or something

They look crazy to walk in, but they also look like lots of fun.

06-28-2006, 02:16 PM
accelagirl: I remember seeing that picture on LS and LJ and loving the pink, but I don't wear pink, sadly, and nobody sells blue ones! D: But you look absolutely adorable. Hehe.

FilthyWarumono: I know, but aren't they awesome? XD

tahiti: Yay Shimotsuma Story! She had the boots, though, and not the shoes, but the heels the same. Hehe. ^_^ They're really not that difficult... Aside from the back cut-out, which really doesn't affect your walking - unless you're going down stairs, which you hafta be careful about! -, the shoes are basically like most of the platform shoes/boots you can buy today. They're really comfy!

accelagirl
06-28-2006, 03:46 PM
yeah, because they're technically flat-soled, they're just like wearing tall shoes. :3 though rocking forward is dangerous carrying big boxes up stairs in those (painful!)

leather dye! i dyed a fake leather pair of mary janes pink (from white) -- it worked great :3

X_X ahh rocking horse shoes....I want. I would kill to have a pair in white and black. I was thinking of getting a pair from Double Decker but I wasnt sure if they would fit since I heard they were sorta tight, Baby's LL shoes fit be fine I was wondering if their largest size would work. Oh what I do for cute shoes.....

P.S. Does Double Decker ship to the U.S. or do you have to go through an other source?

07-27-2006, 10:37 PM
Oooh! I love rocking horse shoes! I bought a pair a while ago from "Refuse to be usual" on ebay. They aren't too bad, but I'm not too fond of them being foam. In the future I'm considering getting black ones but I may get them from the double decker place you guys mentioned!

Where else can they be found?

I found another user on ebay selling them, with wooden platforms but from the pictures the shoe itself didn't look too good >_>

I recenetly rediscovered my love for Vivienne Westwood and have decided I need a pair of Rocking Horse shoes NOW! Unfortunately I cannot find any of the vintage ones, so I'm thinking of getting a pair of DDs to fill the void now. Not having much luck getting the company to write me back to find out if they even ship to the US and how much shipping is. Any suggestions? I really want a pair of red ones, but alas, it's tough choosing between the black and pink as it is!

Also, a bit about the size. How well will my freakishly large 9 to 10 feet fit in a 25cm? Math is not my friend. ^_^;

08-11-2006, 11:25 AM
DD does ship to the US, not sure how much. You have to look on their front page and they something about international shippers and then you select the language you need.

I want the black boot/rocking horses >_< I'll eventually get them!

Edit: I found this page, which gives most info. I'm just curious if they have insurance on shipping...

Maybe closer to the 28-30 range would suit?

You can still custom order authentic VW rocking horse shoes. They are around 500 shipped.

You have the same size for me. I really like lolita_lola's shoes. They are made of soild wood and are the closest to the real ones. The straps are leather too like the VW.

I'm not tall, I'm 5'6", but I almost never wear heels higher than 2.5 inches. I'm also big-- big ol' thighs and calves. Do they look really awkward on curvier bodies? And are they totally ridiculous to walk in if you're not used to platforms and high heels?

They're just so cute, but I'm not going to bother buying a pair if I'd look an idiot walking around in them.

Has anyone bought a pair from double decker??
I had a few questions about them...
- How do they fit? big or small?? my foot is about 23. cm
- How long does it take for them to recieve the International Postal Money Order?
- How should you address the I.P.M.O (your information)?

Sorry for all this, it's just that I don't want to lose my money... and I'm feeling a little bit edgy over the whole process.

Penny, I'm 5' 11.5" with very muscular calves. I really love the look of RHS because the shape of the shoe is very pretty and they create a great line.

They're not totally ridiculous to walk in but it also depends on where you buy from. If you don't like shoes with large platforms you can actually buy from www.rosechocolat.com because they have two styles of RHS: One with a 7 cm platform (http://rosechocolat.com/shop/step1.php?number=350) and one with a 4 cm platform (http://rosechocolat.com/shop/step1.php?number=376). Another plus about rosechocolat is that the platform of the shoe is a bit wider than say lolita_lolas or DD so it should be a little easier to walk in.

I've also heard they're amazingly comfortable (without insoles... :D I <3 insoles)

Thanks, D2R, that's a very helpful link. Sadly it doesn't look like they'll do a 9.5 for me unless I order 3 or more pairs, and the likelihood of me finding two other people who are willing to order 9.5's is next to nil. A pox upon my long, long feet! Actually no, a pox would be pretty gross.

I really want a black pair, though. I am not understanding why that is so hard... You'd figure they'd have more knock-offs done by American companies now, right?

They sell the best wooden knockoffs. They have white, red, and black. I own a pair since they make sizes up to Euro 42 (my boat feet).

Actually, through talking with other lolis I've found out that she will make a larger size if you order 3 or more of the same kind even if the sizes are different.

I.e., if you and two others wanted to each get the same pair of shoes, but you're a 9.5, your friend's a 4 and your other friend's a 7.5 you can order them.

And shipping's only $25 no matter how many pairs of shoes you buy! ((Or how much of anything you buy))

Alot of older rockign horses have pegs in the side of them to put you feet on, so the cut out heal goes there?

I'm ordering from there, cause I'd prefer the wood, and the quality looks better.
