I'm trying to draft some designs for my Cthulhu-themed lolita, and I've kind of hit a designing wall. I know what a lolita outfit should look like, I've got a wig designed, and I know how I'm going to turn the whole thing Cthulhu-y, but actually deciding what sort of sleeves and neckline to use, that sort of thing, is driving me bonkers.

Anyway, there are pictures of me in my gallery to use as reference but I'm trying to find a style that will flatter my decidedly unslender, unwaifish figure but still maintain enough frilliness and poofiness to fit in with the lolita design ethic. Do I deemphasize my bust and hips? Do I work with what I've got? I'm also wondering what sort of makeup I should use-- I do need something, I look awful without a little color on my face, but I'm wondering whether I should stick to the typical innocent-and-childlike lolita makeup or go for something more like glittery green eyeshadow, red or black or green lipstick, fishbelly-white skin, that sort of thing.

I've included a few links to depictions of Cthulhu, but what I'm basing the costume on is the Cthulhu plushie (http://www.toyvault.com/cthulhu/images/cthulhusmall.jpg) I own.
Cthulhu 1 (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hello-cthulhu.com/images/comics/en/000.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.hello-cthulhu.com/%3Fdate%3D2003-11-30&h=400&w=550&sz=32&hl=en&start=3&tbnid=EutGp6Le02Am8M:&tbnh=97&tbnw=133&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcthulhu%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3 D)
Cthulhu 2 (http://hyperstition.abstractdynamics.org/archives/cthulhu.jpg)

So if any experienced Lolitas (and/or Cthulhu fans) can give me any advice or input, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
Penny
