1) a little bit of a darker, more saturated brown would probably go over the red a little better... but may stain it for a little while, depending.
2) My friend's Garnet wig was a Misty (http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=25867&cat=2451&page=1), but she's rather small. So if you're taller you can opt for a Godiva (http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=16374&cat=2451&page=1) or an Amanda (http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=26180&cat=2451&page=1) (In brown-though you may have to darken it.) But, if you're not one for cutting and styling it yourself, then you should go with the Alicia, it seems like a good choice. But I've worked with both a Misty and a Godiva and the Misty took a slightly-left part pretty naturally, and the Godiva can easily be trained to move that way. Unfortunatly, I've been unable to get my hands on an Amanda, as of yet.
