Anyone know if Joanns has an Alice in Wonderland pattern? It is getting close to October and all. It'd be great to do a alice inspired cosplay.

I fully endorse this pattern as being AWESOME. I used it for my Alice Lina costume and the underdress of my Sochie Heim costume (although with some pretty crazy mods on that one).
Warning, though: the skirt as given is longer than you'd expect, and you really do need a petticoat. Measure how long you want the skirt to be on you plus the hem depth, and then compare it to the skirt piece, and cut off the amount needed. I know I'm short, but the pattern went down way past my knees and I had to cut off a few inches and do an extraordinarily deep hem on my Alice Lina when I cut exactly as the pattern indicates.

It's a basic bodice with floofy skirt and puff sleeves with either short sleeve bands or longer extensions pattern. You can modify it in many ways. It's all basically the same, and all options are available in child or adult size.

Simplicity 4015 (Linked on this page: http://simplicity.com/index.cfm?cat=4&type=19&sec=44&startrow=1) actually has an Alice. I'm making the Red Riding Hood from this pattern, and it seems to be working out pretty well. Keep in mind that the sizes are a bit weird (it says 10-16 for the smaller one, but it's much smaller than that).

Ooh.. I'll have to go buy patterns this week, then. ^^
By the way, this is a fairly easy pattern to work with. It's mostly straight lines, so if you need to alter it or add anything, it's easy. The only thing that bugged me was dealing with the skirt.. Before gathering and sewing it, you could easily wrap it around yourself three or four times.. ^^;

Simplicity has a "Short and Sassy" pattern set with some VERY Loli dresses... the skirt's a little short, but they're lovely dresses. I think they're in the latest Halloween catalog, if I'm not mistaken.

If you're looking for ideas on the dresses and patterns (designs on the fabric, not cut-out-and-sew) I would suggest looking here for either commissions or ideas on how to go about it.

(I'm using the same thread 'cos is a similar question. sorry about that!)
Is there a site where I can find an Alice dress pattern online?
or something similar?
I'm not from USA, ando I can't buy things online (because of credit cards and a serious lack of money :P )
thanks!

Just a note about sizing, pattern sizing is always different from commercial sizing. Generally, pattern sizing is more like UK sizing is to US sizing--I am normally a dress size 6, but I'm a pattern size 8 or 10, depending on the style. I would also recommend the McCall's pattern. It looks like the sort of pattern you can easily alter to fit your needs. I haven't used that particular one, but I think that McCall's generally does a better job with patterns than many of the others I've used.

McCall's M4948 is much more kawaii than Simplicity's 4015. That's the pattern I use for my Alice costume.
