Okay, so I know most of you live in the US, but just out of curiosity are any of you going to Comiket in augest?
and if you went last year or already know, could you tell me if they changed the no costume rule in the studio section- that really bothered me.

No costume rule in the studio section? Where's that? The main hall? Pretty much, any rule that was there last year will be there this year.
I've been there six straight times, but last December was my last time period. Have fun.

Golgo, what is your opinion of the cosplay during winter comiket vs. summer comiket? Reason I ask is we're considering going there this winter to cover it, however we'd rather wait until next summer if winter comiket's cosplay isn't quite as busy/good.

Okay, so I can't compare..... but I've heards it's too hot at Summer comiket. Come on... you know you want to go in the Winter.... =D

I'm hoping to go to Winter Comiket this year as well. Is it still gonna be heald the last week of December?

Yep, still in the last weekend before the New Year, but it changes in length. It could be twoor three days, starting on Friday or Saturday.
In my opinion, there are benefits to both. Summer is more crowded and a lot hotter, so you get a lot more people sweating in costume. In winter, the temperature is a little cooler, but comfortable, yet overcast, so you get comparitively smaller crowds, but not by much. It all seems very full either way, around 500,000 showing up regardless of the weather. If I was to choose one, I would prefer winter, but summer is good too.

For Comiket costume rules, they are there for a reason. If you do not pay attention to them, you WILL be ejected from the premises. They don't care about what bothers you. This is not America... ^_^
For the most part, if you're insane like me, you go in summertime. If you're okay with relatively shallow cold weather and overcast skies, then winter comiket is best for you.

I went to summer Comiket 62 last year and it was really something... Hot as hell and nearly fainted in costume.... haha... But it was awesome nonetheless~ :o) :o) :o) I got tons of pictures of my Sailor Uranus Musical costume.
Anyway, I'm also going again this year too, for Comiket 64. Anyone else planning to go?? I already bought my plane ticket~

I'm going to Comiket but before that, I'll be going to SanrioLand, revisiting Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akahabara (if time), and then taking on Harajuku and also Sunshine City to work on logistics for AX Tokyo 2004 with Japanese staffers.

OMG Lionel, I want to go to Sanrioland!!!! Let's go together!!! I'll drag my friend Sherry along~~~ ;oD
When are you arriving in Tokyo? I'm leaving the 4th and staying until the 20th~~
04-15-2003, 09:30 PM
LoveMeeko: I'm leaving 8/12 (US) and staying until 8/17 (JP). On Wednesday (JP) arrival, my friend Taka and I are heading straight to Sunshine City for AXTK business. Thursday is a full day of SanrioLand, and.. just a whole lotta randomness and things to see that have to do with pop culture. We do plan to have a very aggressive travel schedule. hehe And of course, Fri/Sat is.. Comiket! If there is time on Sunday, we may plan to do another Akiharabara run...
04-15-2003, 09:36 PM
huh... never considered that, I might go to Sanrioland

Last week of December? X_x;
Okay, so I can either go to Winter Comiket or AX Tokyo 2004... >.>;;
n.n Decisions, oi.

Ooooo, sounds fun!!!
Maybe we can meet up for your Sanrioland/pop culture extravaganza Thursday~~~
We must talk about this sometime when August grows nearer~~~

LoveMeeko: Also wamnted to note that like last year, we went to a LOT of WEIRD places, BIZARRO restaurants, and parts of Tokyo only Taka and my friend Jim knew about... hehehe So if you can join us, yay! I'll have a bottle of painkillers for your feet because we'll be doing a lot of walking. I learned that from last time in 2001... @_@
04-16-2003, 08:47 PM
And don't worry, I'm not a virgin when it comes to walking around weird places in Tokyo for hours on end.... Last year my two friends and I got lost in Shibuya trying to find a store... LOL... Then the very next day, accidentally got lost again!! We walked all the way from Harajuku to Shibuya.. not even knowing it... LOL... Hey, even got lost in Shinjuku too! Had to go into a department store to ask for directions... LOL
That was so much fun~~~~~
My feet were killing me, YES. That is something I'm being very paraniod about this year... making sure I bring my best shoes this time!!! Nooooo sandals.... Eeek, I was walking in sandals when we got lost in the hilly area of Shibuya.... Not good... ;o\\\\\
04-16-2003, 09:58 PM

I'm going again to Comiket this year (Comiket 64), I really hope it won't be as hot as past years (I always hope...but it gets hotter everytime...)...^^;;;
All of you coming, what are you going to bring? I think I'll go as Helena (DoA3), Black Chii and Sailor Jupiter (possibly myu style), it would be cool to meet!!! ^____________________^
for Love Meeko: did you wear light blue sunglasses last year as Myu Uranus at Comiket? If yes then we met and I have a picture of you^-^
