View Full Version : Weather Notice to Out of Towners going to AB!

04-07-2003, 11:12 AM
Well, I'm not sure if it's been like this all in the northern regions of the country, but if you're coming to AB from a location further south or on the west coast, PLEASE do not forget to bring some WARM clothes!

So far it is April 7th as I write this and we are expecting SNOW tonight and tomorrow. As a native Philadelphian, I find this absolutely crazy, since the latest we ever had snow was in the first week of March. It's 27 degrees outside. Hopefully, by the MIDDLE of the first month of spring (con time), the temperatures will drop to something not so bloody disgusting and it will actually be nice outside...or at least not 27 degrees and snowing.

So anyways, I would highly advise keeping an eye on the Boston weather forecast if you are coming to the con from out of town.

Yeah I agree I live in NY and we are sapose to get 3-6 inches of snow right after we had an Ice storm that knocked out the power. Once inside the con I think people can wear whatever.

04-07-2003, 03:28 PM
we got let out of school early becuase of the snow... such odd weather for april.

04-07-2003, 05:48 PM
yeah, the only thing you can count on in new england is the un-predictability of the weather. I am in Boston now and yesterday they said we were suppose to get about 10 inches....well it ended up being a costal storm and I havent' seen much of anythign yet.....lousy no good...I wanted to get out of classes

04-07-2003, 05:56 PM
I remember it snowed once in May. O_o;;; I definately agree to bring a variety of clothes, because you never know what kinda weather will be happening.

I'm used to cold weather, seeing on how I'm from NY... My school got canceled before school started! Huzzah!

04-07-2003, 10:11 PM
Well, Ms. Native Philadelphian, you'll be happy to know it snowed down here in Philly too =P

04-08-2003, 12:29 PM
So I heard, my friend. So I heard.

I am getting so sick and tired of the weather though. That one week where we were getting nice spring-ish weather made me so happy. But now...phooey. :(

04-10-2003, 04:28 PM
Damn.. I hope it doesn't snow while I'm up there.. I was stuck at Katsucon cause the snow.. and coming from North Carolina.. *pray the weather gods* Pleeeeease don't let it snow..

04-10-2003, 04:47 PM
*Hopes for a crapload of snow to get snowed in at a animecon. Then gets himself beaten up for praying this.Gets left in a bloody heap moaning, groaning and occasionally twitching.Lmao*

Yeesh! I hate New England weather... *Sigh*. That week of beautiful weather was just a *cruel* tease. *Shakes fist at the sky but gets scared when a bolt of lightening comes down* Yipes! *Runs to hide under a warm blanket cuz the house is getting cold* I'm praying for good weather too, -_-.

04-11-2003, 01:56 PM
Folks, if you go to a con in coastal New England in April, you can get just about any kind of weather there is. It's just the way things are. We can all cope. ;)

04-11-2003, 04:40 PM

The updated weather forecast for Boston, MA for the weekend of April 17-21, 2003:

Thursday: Showers - High 42
Friday: Cloudy - High 47
Saturday: Showers - High 45
Sunday: Scattered Showers - High 50
Monday: Light Rain - High 50

(courtesy: Weather.com)

It would be safe to say to prepare for some rain.
(Though being New England, that could change in a moment)

The temps won't be too high so also prepare for some cold, damp weather

04-13-2003, 09:03 PM
well, my last costume is really hot, but the other days are going to be torture..well, especially saturday...just a very light weight white shirt and vest....mustn't wear jacket and ruin costume.... but I'll deal, at least I'll be on the T for the majority of the time outside anyway.

04-15-2003, 10:20 AM
It is like 80 degrees today and they said it might be cold enough to snow on Thursday

*goes and stabs weather

04-15-2003, 10:28 AM

Friggin ecosystem being all out of whack!!

04-15-2003, 10:46 AM

04-15-2003, 10:54 AM
For people wandering around from teh subway or T, it's gonna be sucky :P and if it rains or snows it could potentally ruin someones costume.

04-15-2003, 11:01 AM
