I'm planning on cosplaying Gary Oak from Pokemon at Youma Con. I'm not sure how to go about doing his costume, especially his hair and boots. Any suggestions on what to do?

That pic is from the Kanto days IIRC. Go to serebii.net, and look for some pics of his current look.

I know, that's the version of Gary I want to cosplay. I don't want to do his current look due to no one knows it. I've tried.

For the hair I suggest a wig and a lot of gel and hairspray. Try asking in the wig forum as they'll be more helpfull there. For the boots, I'd buy a pair of those beige UGG boots and paint or sew on the stripes. Good luck.

UGG boots? Where can I find something like that?

Yeah, I remember the reason that you did his current look last time was because you didn't like the purple shirt.

I guess that changed your mind because nobody has been paying attention to much of Pokemon after the fad died down. But good luck!

Pick up a New Punk (http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=26228&cat=295&page=1) in # 6 Brown from Cosworx, they are good as bases for spikey type updoes because they have lots of fiber.

As for the shoes, boot covers are easy to make. Check out a tutorial here:

It'll be easiest to make the type of boot you're going for (aka not skin tight) if you have a similar shape to cover (like a winter boot).

Make sure you have a pokemon plushy with you too to be recognizeable ^^
