Want a place to change your costume? You'll need a hotel room, then.

Animé Los Angeles 4 – 2008
Friday, January 4, through Sunday, January 6, 2008

Basic Hotel Info:

Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel & Convention Center
2500 Hollywood Way
Burbank, CA 91505 USA
Phone: 1-818-843-6000
Fax: 1-818-842-9720

24 Hour Reservations: 1(800) 736-9712
URL: www.marriott.com/burap (http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/burap?groupCode=ANEANEAa&app=resvlink)

Our reservations at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel & Convention Center have exceeded all reasonable expectations of growth, with the result that all of the rooms the hotel has allocated to us at the $109 rate have been reserved. And the hotel will not give us more rooms at the convention rate. I'm very sorry for anyone who has not been able to reserve a room at our contracted rate.

EDIT: SUITES ARE SOLD OUT AS OF 2007-10-11.

We are working with the Marriott to block all of the Animé Los Angeles sleeping rooms in the East Tower. That way we only annoy ourselves. When you make your reservation, try and specify (if possible) whether you mind being on a quiet or noisy floor. If you are speaking to a live person and they don't understand, just patiently ask them to make a note of your preference. The convention services folks and our Animé Los Angeles Hotel Liaisons will understand.

If you have any questions not covered by the information above, please email us at hotel@animelosangeles.org

Thank you,

Mokita

You could take the bus (or taxi) and not even have to pay for parking!

I'm not seeing a way to reserve a Junior suite on the site. Does that mean they're all taken already? (I'm just researching, not definitely looking to book a suite.)

They are not taken - you cannot reserve a suite online yet, and the hotel staff has a problem with the special rate when you call them, the hotel liason is working to resolve that. I had the same problem ^^;;

The thing to do is go ahead and reserve your suite or room at whatever rate they give you, ask for the name of the person helping you and your confirmation number, and send all that to our hotel liaison (along with your name and your check-in date). That will let us work on it from our end...

Oh, I know. I just wanted to make it clear in case anyone else was in a similar situation.

We just heard back from the hotel on how to reserve a suite at the convention rate.

It's a different group code. You still use ANEANEA for regular rooms ($109/night), but you use ANEANEO for booking a suite ($149).

Yes. Animé Los Angeles will be held in Burbank, at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. It's not in the city of Los Angeles, but it is still in the county/greater L.A. area.

In the most non-LA like city in the entire county, lol, it's in the San Fernando valley. But Burbank is a studio city... We got the WB, Disney, NBC, Nickolodeon, Cartoon Network, and probably another that I can't think of. And boy does that make it expensive to live here... Bah.

Ya had me scared there for a moment. I was thinking, "oh my, the hotel is already full?". With Mikomicon and Ani-magic just around the corner, I'd figured it was time to take care of that. So not I'm "all booked up" too, an with a King-sized bed to boot!

Reserve your room now! Our room block is filling up fast. (I mean, really fast; even Christian's impressed, and he's been around the block a few times. Did I tell you he co-chaired a convention at this very hotel in '94?)

The bad news is, the suites are all sold out. They only had 15 of them in our room block, and we're currently trying to get them to add 5 more suites to accommodate the people who've already booked suites at the higher rate and sent us confirmation numbers. It doesn't look like we're going to get that part of the room block beefed up, more's the pity.

I'm optimistic that we can add more rooms to the regular room block, though -- crossing my fingers -- but at this point, it's a good idea to reserve your room now if you want a room at all.

It sucks though, that the ALA group code doesn't work for the night of the 3rd :/ we live a hour and a half away, so we wanted to stay on the 3rd, but it says the code won't work for that day included. We can't get the $109 a night if we stay on the 3rd...

It's supposed to work equally well on the 3rd. Write down your confirmation# and the rates they've put on each day of your stay and send it all to our 'hotel' e-mail address.

That would explain why I haven't been able to upgrade to a suite instead of a regular room... I thought there were 70-some-odd junior suites, though? That's kinda lame. :( Are there any connecting rooms as a substitute?

Physically, the east tower has 77 suites, yes.

The problem is, our contract only specifies 15 suites in our room block.

Under the old management, we could have asked them to increase the room block as we go along. The line in the contract that applies to this says The above room block may be adjusted on or before the cut off date to reflect actual reservation needs, based upon availability. We had an understanding with the prior management that this meant we could ask them to increase the room blocks.

Under the new management -- they're now owned by Pyramid Hotels -- they're not giving us anything that's not spelled out in the contract, and they're interpreting that may be adjusted clause as not being a firm directive to give us what we want. In addition, West Point Academy is taking over the West Tower and they want more rooms for their block.

The other clause that's supposed to kick in here is If Anime Los Angeles meets its room block on or before the cut off date, the Hilton* Burbank Airport and Convention Center will continue to accept group room reservations up to arrival date at the group rate based upon availability. But they might be interpreting that to only apply to regular sleeping rooms. (While the suites portion of the room block is full, the rest of it hasn't filled up yet.) And, if West Point Academy has snagged all the rooms for their room block, then there wouldn't be any available rooms to rent (say, if you just called up and didn't tell them you were with the group).

To answer your other question, yes, they've got lots of connecting rooms.

*Footnote: The hotel used to be a Hilton company-owned hotel, now it's owned by Pyramid Hotels and they've switched it to a Marriott franchise.

*thumbs up* I did as you asked, Chaz. I emailed the info about the hotel room I reserved so we can clear up the group rate mistake.

Thursday night is full. Don't know about Friday or Saturday yet.

The hotel situation is getting worse -- we don't know if we can add ANY rooms once the block fills up. So I wouldn't delay...
