the spam board is a good place to start. you can commission someone to make your costume for you. There are also lots of reviews and warnings about who is good to go to.
there are also sites and such with pre-made(non-commission) costumes, and there should be some info about them too. if you find someone inparticular you can always use the search function to see what people have said in the past. good luck.

There are many commissioners on these forums, like my self that are willing to pick up costumes. You may want to list what character/costume you are looking for, along with a pick for starters.

we can make pretty much anything from clothing and armour to masks and prosthetics to weapons and props.
we tend to be cheap but as we're based in the UK, shipping can be a little pricey. Give us as much time as possible ie don't order something you need next week!
we also have a few specialists on our team eg we have a leatherworker who can produce nicer stuff than you'll see in the Lord of the Rings films (seriously) and a specialist corset maker.
We don't do wigs and we don't do shoes/boots.
Anything else just pm and ask - we can generally get a quote back very quickly if you provide pics, depending on how busy we are and how often I get to check this forum. You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if its easier.
If we can't do something or we know somewhere you can get it cheaper than commissioning us I'll always point this out as we want happy customers more than we want cash. (happy customers leads to more work which leads to more cash in the end!)
to give you an idea of what we do, we're currently making:
Second Age elven armour as in LOTR
A lizard/dragon mask in foam and latex
A leather battleskirt
A chest prosthetic to allow simulated surgery
some generic tabards
