Chiloves1- I actually have seen a picture of Euphie's shoes; unfortunately I can't find the picture now. It's from the episode where Lulu, Euphie, Suzaku, and Kallen are all at the beach, and her clothes are spread on the ground. They are white flats that have scallops along the top like her collar/sleeve thing, and I think they also have roses and ribbon on them.

Nice! I haven't seen anyone do that dress yet.

Ending C.C. update: skirt and layers almost done! currently pleating and sewing the red and green layers together. Shoes and laces figured out. Hat needs a new hatband and then the little white flowers. Need to pattern out the black corset thing. Shirt needs white eyelet trim lace and maroon ribbon. Can't wait to wear this!

Thanks! I can't wait to see how your C.C. cosplay comes out.

Here are some progress shots, not much to look at in this stage; I'm only about 40% complete with the dress and 75% done with the Ashford uniform. I'm going out of town this weekend, so I'll have to wait until Mon or Tue to work on it some more. Next week will yeild better progress, I promise.

Me in my wig with make-up (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/solarprincess/cosplay/P1010892.jpg) : Requires further styling.
Top portion of dress (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/solarprincess/cosplay/P1010895.jpg) : Edges of white trim need to be finished offand attached, and sleeves need to be sewn on.
Dress skirt (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/solarprincess/cosplay/P1010896.jpg) : Needs to be hemed and attached to bodice.
Uniform (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/solarprincess/cosplay/P1010897.jpg) : Need to make blazer.
I also need to make the choker for the dress and add the little red pieces to the white trim.

Oh Hi everyone:-D, Wow I haven't been on the forums in a long time. But my cousin may cosplay as Kallen with me. I think she may do the prison dress of kallen and I'll be Empress C.C lol I'll have to make both cosplays since she doesn't know how to sew -.-
But does anyone have reference pictures of kallen's prison dress?

I was thinking of doing a Nunnally cosplay for next year but...
Buying a wheel chair just for one cosplay is kind of foolish...and thinking about it, it's like you are mocking the real handicap. Which isn't funny at all.

If I was to do this cosplay it has to be after the fact that she opened her eyes. Having my eyes closed all day....Yeeaahhh...no.

I love her but, eh.....

Yeah, I totally understand! IS it possible though that you could get a cheap folding chair, attach wheels to the bottom of it, and making a chair cover for it? that would actually be a lot cheaper than buying a wheelchair, and you wouldn't feel guilty about it. ^^

I know that I might have a nunnally going with a group I'm in, and right now, we're looking for wheelchairs in places like Good Will. Believe me, I don't think your mocking anyone, and neither will the half-a-million-people at whatever con your going to. It's apart of the cosplay, lol.

Although now that I say that, it would me kind of hard to get a wheelchair around a con unless you stuck outside or on just one level.

:3 I'll be doing a pair cosplay with my best friend as Suzaku and myself as Euphemia.

I think first we'll be doing the ep. 5 outfits (street clothes) and then later one I plan on making the infamous rose gown she's always wearing.

I've been looking through the thread for help/advice that others have gotten, but I'm more than happy to get advice if anyone has any to give! Just PM me that way we don't flood this board, lol.

Actually, any patterns used in making these costumes will help a lot. I kind of suck with picking out patterns. ;~;

A wheelchair o_o; That's intense cosplay. Has anyone considered trying to rent a wheelchair? I don't know if they'd give one out to someone who's not actually impaired, but I'm pretty sure they'd have ones for rent somewhere (for people with non-permanent injuries to both legs, etc.). Then you could just "slip" an awesome Nunnally-chair cover onto it?

Hm...about the "mocking" thing. I think that people might find it offensive if it were just a normal wheelchair (people who don't know what cosplay is). HOWEVER, Nunnally's wheelchair is so crazy awesome that people would "get" that its part of a costume...especially at an anime convention :)

Legally, a company that rents wheelchairs cannot ask for proof of impairment. If you say you need a chair, then they are required to provide one and if they do ask, they could be on the receiving end of an ADA lawsuit as not all impairments are physically obvious. You could also try second-hand stores, some places do accept wheelchairs as items for sale (like say Goodwill) or even try a medical supply place that sells crutches or such.

Also, if I remember correctly, there is an episode in which Nunnally was able to walk for a short period of time. You could always use that as an argument for why you don't have a wheelchair if you don't feel comfortable getting one.

Trust me, I see people everyday who honestly and truly don't need a wheelchair and use them only to get to the front of the line access to attractions. And I mean, they honestly have NOTHING wrong with them....You shouldn't feel guilty that the character you love is impaired, and that you are willing to give up the gifts you have, even briefly, to represent her. Good luck!~

I think I've decided that when I start on my Schneizel cosplay I'll be using twill for most everything (tailcoat, inner coat, and pants). Seeing as I haven't worn much twill in my life, does anyone know how hot it can get if you've got about two layers of it on? I know it's a weird question, but I'm curious.

So, if I can find that dag-gone ruler here at work I'm going to attempt to start drafting my tailcoat pattern for Schneizel with the excess newspapers we have here. Hi!
I'm making the Lolita-esque version of CC and I was wondering if there is a screenshot of this from the show [I haven't seen R-2 yet] or if it's a fan-made costume?
http://fc06.deviantart.com/fs16/f/2007/202/0/c/code_geass_CC_by_fylus.jpg I've only found fanarts of this outfit, and can't figure out if there are buckles or not on the black ribbons on her chest, arms, and thighs? Screenshots or keywords to search would be helpful and also if anyone knows of a backshot? oooh and what would I make the hat from?
Thanks for any/all help! :D

I was wondering if I could get some advice on a Euphie wig. I'm planning to purchase one of the following (they're pretty smiliar-looking) so if any of you have either purchsed from this seller or just have an opinion of which one looks more accurate, please let me know. I'd love to get one from cosplaywig, but I didn't see any posted…and my convenetion is in October, so I really need to get mine now since it'll be coming from overseas. O.o Anyway, any and all opinions are much appreciated. :) Thank you!

Since i only have a pink and a brown wig, I'm trying to decide whether to Suzaku or Euphemia.

Does anyone know what to do with the top of the bodice? Should I make multiple bodices with differents lengths or should I sew feathers on?

Mogwai

@Stormraven24: I've actually only seen two Schneizels. Both were really good! One was Schneizel in his prison/last episode outfit. I was really surprised to see someone do that one too. However, I can't remember where I saw it...>_>; Anyways, it's always good to see Schneizel get some more love. x3 Speaking of which, I would really love to see more Kanon cosplays too! xD

How's yours coming along?

@Princess Blade: Hard choice! xD I'm kinda leaning towards the first one. The bangs look more accurate. =3 But, it looks a little thin. Maybe it's just me? All I would suggest is to add a few ringlets to it. Also, have you considered come-on-cosplay's Euphie wig?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Code-Geass-R2-Euphemia-new-love-free-long-Wigs-Cosplay_W0QQitemZ310165455347QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH _DefaultDomain_0?hash=item48374d41f3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I haven't bought a Euphie wig, but each time before I buy any wig from ebay I always skim through the reviews of the seller. =3

(Speaking of cosplaywig, they now have a Nunnally wig! *_* It's so pretty.
If only they had it a few months ago... T_T )

@Kiichigo: I think feathers would be pretty, but I'm not sure. The multiple bodcies with diffrent lengths sounds interesting but feathers might be easier.

EDIT: Not Kid's Charissa's, my mistake. The seller is come-on-cosplay. xP Sorry!

behindblueyes97
09-01-2009, 09:47 PM
@Lelouch: His bangs are super long o.-
@princess: The first is a better color than the second but mogwai's suggestion is much better
@kiichigo: IF you make multiple bodices they will be: a. hot, b. more likely to wrinkle, c. bulky and obvious at the seams, d. unable to produce that skin tight look. Feathers will look fabulous but only if you use the feather accents on the sleeves and skirt too. You might be better off shredding fabric.

Another question, please help. I've tried to make these wings 4 ways [I lost my post and don't want to re-type them] and none have worked so that they retain their form. They are scaled down to 22" apiece to make them wearable at a con. http://media.photobucket.com/image/kallen%20code%20geass%20clamp/peachzeldagirl/Code%20Geass/CLAMP06.jpg?o=1 I need suggestions on how to make them please. Uh...it sounds like you haven't watched Code Geass at all. C.C. wears the lolita outfit in the first season. Why are you cosplaying from something you don't know much about? =P I'm not trying to be rude or discriminate, but I'm really curious as to how you chose that specific outfit and character to cosplay. =)

Lelouch19: You would be okay for Lulu. You need a wig though, because growing your hair out to Lelouch's length would take forever and would be probably really annoying because the way the hair is drawn, the bangs and side hairs would bug your face. Get a wig, and some nice purple contacts, try out some Japanese jrock style makeup for the eyes to get the nice long CLAMP eye look (nothing too drastic please) and there you go. ^^

Also...behindblueeyes97: it's hard to read your fonts. o_o if you keep it as the default then it's so much easier on the eyes.

I don't even know how to change the font. On mine they all show up as Arial or something along those lines. I've only watched through episode 8 of Code Geass because that's all I have. I'm cosplaying in a group, so since I have the wig I might as a well do a few of her outfits :)

Crystalike
09-01-2009, 11:16 PM
Ah, makes sense. ^^ you should definitely watch the episode she wears the outfit in because C.C.'s a badass and has a cool (but short!) action scene. =) I wish you the best of luck with the wig, if your wig isn't thick enough in the back you might have to add wefts to be able to tie it up high for the Lolita outfit. and as for the hat...I noticed Claires and Icing selling a small round lolita-esque hat that could be stripped of its embellishments and painted red, but it was $15 so it's up to you, but even the Cosworx hats are about $15 too without shipping.

Ah...the parents restricting cosplay...I've have them too. X( It might and might not be cheaper, because if you don't style real hair correctly it can look like crap. Really, a wig that you would style once and not have to worry about maintaining all the time would actually in the long run just be better. I can refer you to a couple wigs that would work that would be 1$15-25, which are all fantastic wigs and very easy to style...But it's up to you, it's just that I've seen a lot of Failouchs who use their real hair, and I'm here on this thread to prevent that. Real hair never has the volume and thickness that's necessary for Lelouch, and styling it like his hair is would require a lot of practice and an odd cut of shaggy layers and side bangs. =X good luck!

Well as it is...you're probably not going to be able to find a wig specifically styled for him. I suggest this wig in this color: http://cgi.ebay.com/C081-Mixed-Blue-Cosplay-Animation-Wigs-Free-shipping_W0QQitemZ310164739926QQcmdZViewItemQQptZU S_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions?hash=item4837425756&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 and giving it a cut, styling the bangs with hairspray, and teasing the back up.

1. What is the name for all that goldfabric on CG-costumes?

2. Do people sew or glue or iron it on?

There are multiple types of fabric that people have used for the gold trim on CG costumes. The one I chose to use was gold pleather. It's stretchy, smooth, and you can make bias tape from it pretty easilly (it won't matter how you cut it because it won't fray). It's kind of a pain to sew though compared to more conventional fabrics. Glue would probably work to keep it on a costume, though you might be better off top-stitching it. You should be careful trying to satin stitch it though, as it could probably damage the gold top-layer.

I have yet another question. Why is a n00b like me thinking of doing a CG-osplay only... 7 months from now? I know I'm starting too early. I just really wanna make these costumes.

1. What is the name for all that goldfabric on CG-costumes?

2. Do people sew or glue or iron it on?

This is PERFECT. Should I bother her with a PM about how she made the top of the bust, or can anyone see how she did it?

The gold fabric is usually called bias tape, and it's sold in fabric stores. I bought my bias tape from Hancock fabrics, but it is a bit shiny, so you can chose your own gold fabric and make bias tape, which is pretty easy if you have an iron and the good instructions.

Well...seeing as how Sakura_Shinobi is part of Kouji-alone's Russian Code Geass cosplay group she probably didn't make the outfit. With their group they commission tailors to sew the costumes for them and wear them. It's worth asking her how she did it to see if she knows, but you're most likely going to be best off inserting interfacing or using stiffen spray on the fabric.

Tralala, I'm attempting Kallen's bat outfit for Sakuracon '10. I'm gonna get supplies for the wings soon hopefully but I'm still researching on how the heck I'll even make them. I'm not 100% on how I'll do the torn up body suit thing either.

If anyone has tips for any aspects of the costume, hohoho, I'd happily take them.

Hello, everyone! I've finally been convinced to do Cornelia, and I've settled on her battle uniform with the face eating cloak of doom. (I'll be doing the white and gold ballgown later, but that's not for a while. ^^;) The uniform itself is pretty easy and straightforward, but I'm having trouble coming up with a way to make the collar of the cloak keep its shape...I've never had to do any sort of gravity defying element before, so any help is greatly appreciated! interfacing would do the trick. Just sandwich a thick layer of it between the lining of the cape and the white fabric. or if you want it to bend, you could use craft foam instead and form it with some light heat from a hair dryer, then insert it inside.

Um, let's see.In the context of sewing, applique refers a needlework technique in which pieces of fabric, embroidery, or other materials are sewn onto another piece of fabric to create designs, patterns or pictures.Yeah I basically just stole that from Wikipedia.

Hello there,
I'm cosplaying C.C. the R2 version. I have a question!
It's about the boots xD At first I tried to make boot covers, but that just didn't work out for me. Now my mom bought me some white tigh high boots (she's on holiday, but she'll be back in about 2 weeks)
Now, should I use masking tape and spray paint the golden/yellow parts?
Or should I take fabric and stitch that on top of it?
Is leather even spray-paint-able? xD
I'm a bit lost here :S

Hi all.

I made a post on the wig section of the forum, and only got one hit. I really need help finding a Lelouch wig for my girlfriend. (We are doing Lelouch and CC)

I have done quite the extensive search, but I have turned up nothing worth my spending my money on as far as this wig. What few I turn up on places like ebay are poorly made, or just stolen pictures of cosplayers.

I would prefure not to have to style, or rather style a wig TOO much, as it is something I have never done, and quite honestly, am afraid to even attempt.

At last resort, IF I can find someone reputable enough to make one (I've been ripped off SO many times by people on here), I will do so, but for now I was hoping that maybe someone could point me in the correct direction for Lulu's wig.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

For my dress (you can see pictures in my gallery), I just pinned the ribbon to do the crisscrossing, and then sewed more ribbon over the edges. If you'd like I can take detail pics of this. HOWEVER my costume was made in 2 days and is a little ghetto, so here's other ways to do it.
You can get lace that has loops in it and use that (sew it on, thread the ribbon through it). If you're not sure what I mean, I can try to find an example.
Or you can make little loops out of ribbon and thread the ribbons through those, although you kind of need a seam there to do so, so it depends on your patterning (my pattern didn't have anything like that, so I didn't use that method. I would have done lace, but again, I made it in 2 days with stuff I already had lol).

Hey everyone,
I'm planning on making this dress: http://static.minitokyo.net/view/49/07/350399.jpg (Euphie) and I was wondering if anyone else here has made it? If so, what pattern did you use for the overdress? I'm having trouble finding a dress patterns with the proper amount of fullness in order to get the "petals" to size properly over a bigger hoopskirt. I'm thinking a wedding dress pattern, but I seem to only be finding patterns that have a seam at the waist, when I need an A-line type of silhouette with no waist seam. Hopefully that makes sense. But in any case, any help would be wonderful, because I'm coming up empty on this.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Also, has anyone who's done Euphie or CC's DVD cover dress used a fishline hem on it? I'm thinking of remaking my dress, and I was thinking of maybe using that technique, so I was wondering if anyone else has tried it. Thank you!

I don't know if it's been asked, but I've been boggled for ages as to how people make the belts and snaps for the prisoner suit for females that C.C. has made popular.

I'm heading a photoshoot project with a whole bunch of people. We don't have a C.C. yet but I'm doing my homework ahead of time and doing some research so when the girl for it finally arrives, she not only has a wig to borrow from me -I've been spree buying wigs that can be used for this- but some notes to go through.

I've been reading around and it seems people are HAND MAKING them.

HOW? @_@;

Anyone who can sort of give a hint as to how this is made possible? D:

Hey guys, so moving along on my C.C R2 outfit, and I am getting ready to line the panels at the bottom of the dress with red material (opted not to line the whole thing due to cost) so I am really questioning the best way to go about this. I have not turned over the edging on any part of the outfit yet, as I am thinking that will be the best way to sew in the red lining for the panels. Any suggestions on the best way to get this done? I was going to have my grandmother help me but she has already headed south for the winter, so no getting help there xD

Tifa-chan0980: I would assume that to sew lining into the dress, if you already have the dress made, trace the parts you want lined onto the red fabric and just do it that way, with folded-in edges so you don't see the frayed edges of the fabric. Is that at all helpful?

whitebeast: for my C.C. belt I just cut the fabric in strips, twice as wide as the width of the belt. Sew it into tube shape and flip them inside out and sew it again on the top or iron it to make the shape stable. or you can just be laze and buy pleader and cut them in strips ^^;;; Im not sure what do you mean by the snaps? the one on her shoulder? I didnt make mine, but there is a snap puncher you can find in notion wall or you can just fake it with foam or something.

OH. THOSE WERE BOUGHT. -feels enlightened-

Or faked. Hmm. I shall keep that in mind. I think we'll figure it out somehow since I can always bother some creative peoples for the crafting of it if our C.C. can't do it herself.

I mean those snaps/belt closures that hang from the sleeves and surround her chest and thighs. They can be closed and used to restrained. Is it more feasible to fake those too or is there a way to make them workable?

Before we had a cast overhaul due to lack of interest and commitment, our C.C. had a problem with that because no matter where she looked, even some of us helped, we couldn't find anything like what C.C. used at all. @_@

Not sure, but I do know that reinforcing the fabric with Craft-weight interfacing and boning will make it quite stiff. You can easily make a dracula-style collar using that stuff. So, it will stand up, but I don't know how to get the fullness.

Alright, very simple question.
I have decided to attempt C.C's ever popular white jumpsuit (http://code-geass.bandai-ent.com/characters/images/cc_COMP.gif), but as a beginner cosplayer and inexperienced seamstress, I'm not up to drafting my own pattern.
What would be the best pattern to start with?
I've thought perhaps something like a catsuit (http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk/images/inline/inline317.jpg), but is there something closer out there?

I'm doing the jumpsuit too, and am trying to figure out what kind of material to use for it. I hear uniform material is very popular with the professionals. What are your suggestions?

I have already completed the Anya Ashford uniform. Now I am working to complete the R2 flight suit for Anya. It is very difficult because it seems to guff out on the back and stomach no matter what. O well I will figure it out.

*poke* Let's see if any Geass fans are still alive and willing to help a newbie, haha :D I have a lot of questions, I'm sorry. ><

1. Does anyone have solid pictures of the back design for the Knight of Rounds' cloaks? As much as I would love to rewatch Geass and take reference shots, I just don't have the time. >< Not to mention I haven't even finished R2 yet, haha. :D If the designs are all different, which I doubt, I'm looking for Anya's in particular. If they're all the same, then any picture will do.

2. Also, Anya's little recording thing... :O The thing she uses to take pictures? I'm going to guess (probably correctly) that you can't buy it, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to make it, or know of some widely sold item that sells something similar.

3. Anya's tattoo - how do you guys apply it? The way I imagine it, paint would be bad because it'd crack and peel off, and marker would look messy and fade before the day's over.

4. And here's a more general Geass cosplay question: what makes a Geass cosplay good? Detailed clothing? Fabric choice? One's face? One's companions?

Morndulin
12-09-2009, 09:18 AM
I've already done C.C's R2 outfit, Gino Weinberg's Ashford uniform and Knights of Round.
Currently I'm doing Emperor Lelouch for my friend (as a school work) and I'll do C.C's Empress-version and the black CLAMP-artbook gown.

I love Geass's outfits, so many details and gorgeous colors and characters.

And to answer TsuirenNoHana's 4th question: I'd say all those together... the same things I look in every cosplay. You should always choose materials according to outfit's style (same material doesn't really work for Emperor-outfit and Black Knight's outfit.) Also details are very important, especially in the animes like Geass where there are lots of symbols and detailing in the outfits. Facial and body-structure are also quite important, but even if you'd look exactly like the chara, but your outfit fails, I'd say something has gone wrong.

I have three Code Geass costumes in the works for AMA 10(see sig). I'm coming along steadily in the costume department (although, I was thinking Luciano's cape was more red than orange, but if I got for a redder wig I think it'll work out).

I was hoping for some input on what wigs to get to Gino (http://static2.animepaper.net/upload/thumbs/wallpapers/Code-Geass/%5Blarge%5D%5BAnimePaper%5Dwallpapers_Code-Geass_kylesilverwind(1.6)__THISRES__87176.jpg) and Luciano (http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/characters/8/61856.jpg).

As of right now I'm thinking about Scruffy (http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=26258&cat=2446&page=1) in butterscotch blonde(25) for Gino.

Then for Luciano, I was considering getting Rocker and using a lot of Got2B gel and spray to make it stand up more and be stiffer. But I was thinking more of an auburn red than real red or orange and that isn't available. The less work I have to do to the wig, the better since I tend to be defeated by wigs still. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I will be heading out to the local costume shop sometime in the next month or so most likely to look at what they have and would like to have an ideas just in case I see something perfect there(they have good prices usually) that I might not have thought to use otherwise.

Also, what would be the easiest material for the long black gloves like in the Gino pic? I want something a little stretchy(I have a good pattern), shiny and won't require too much work to make them stay up.

Thanks.

I'm fairly new to sewing as well but that seems to be the pattern most people recommend. Looking at it, I'd say you'd definitely need to lengthen the collar so that it comes up to about mid-neck. Then you'd need to add the front panel which I guess you'd have to make a pattern for yourself and attach with snaps or something like that. I have some pictures of the uniform construction from earlier on in this thread (don't know which post, sorry!) so here are the links, hope they help!

Hello all! First time posting on this thread (.. i think)

My gf and I premiered our Code Geass (R2) costumes (currently WIP) a few weeks ago at a small con here in Canada. My costume is based on the PVC statue of Zero/Lelouch released a while ago. I am currently looking into how I will be patterning the cape (as well as make it sturdy enough to keep the "wings" and collar sturdy enough to make the desired shapes. I still need to fix up a few things on the costume from the convention (parts partially undoing themselves as well as a few other adjustments.)

Here is the costume so far ^^

Hey there everyone! I posted a thread on the wig forum about trying to find a great Euphemia wig... but figured this thread could also be of some help.

"So, I've chosen to take a flying leap and attempt at cosplaying one of the prettiest and most princess-ly anime heroines out there (giant poofy gowns anyone?), Euphemia Li Britannia from Code Geass. And while her gown (any that I choose, haha!) will be the toughest order to fill, I've found that in my browsing for a wig for her, that is also quite difficult as well. As for my background in wig styling? Not very extensive, which is why I'd love a great-looking premade wig at a decent price... if it gets pricey, then for the sake of beauty and accuracy? That's what birthdays and jobs are for! Haha.

I've searched these forums, and the only thing I got out of that was cursing cosplaywig on ebay for not having the so-called 'beautiful/accurate' Euphemia wig available for purchase! Argh.

(BTW: I'd love anything remotely similar to this Euphie wig, even though this was a custom style [if that stylist is reading this post now, MAJOR PROPS! This is some lovely wig work.]: http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs40/f/2009/046/7/5/Euphemia_wig_by_Tsubaki_chan.jpg"

I have been eying Zero's cape as a future project. I would probably go with a combination of interfacing and some of the thin sheets of craft foam (the stuff you can buy at Walmart or a craft store in packs). I'm not 100% it would work well, hopefully someone that has already tried it can provide more insight.

I am just starting to work on the capes for the Knights of the Round and I'm using a thick felt for the liner along with interfacing, which I think will allow the collars to stick up correctly. In your case the craft foam can be nice before you can heat it and preform it a bit to get that curl. So far, your costumes look gorgeous. Good luck.

@Yuuki_Kaulitz: I know there's supposed to be a few good sketches of his costume in the official guidebook and in the format material books. I don't own those myself though, so I can't really provide any images from them. I think the images in the guidebook are the same as those found on official website though. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make those cuts/holes throughout her dress? Aside from just cutting it with scissors, how would you prevent the fabric from fraying and keeping its shape? I was thinking of using heat n bond to prevent fraying and retain its shape, but that would make the surrounding areas of the holes very stiff and rough. I am lost. Is there any fabric that I should use or any methods in creating the holes?

The C.C cosplayer from GreenMakakas made that dress, I think (she was showcased for it too, it' really a beautiful job. I asked her how she made the holes, and she said that she used 'taft' as fabric, and burned the holes along the edges. My mom said that a cigarette would be the best to burn them with, because it doesn't have a big flame that can go out of control and burn the rest of the fabric (would.suck.big time.)

I'm going to be cosplaying C.C. soon, and I'm having difficulty settling on a wig. I'm trying to decide between these two:
http://item.taobao.com/auction/item_detail-0db1-b8bd3c31d247660e2e7b493fab7e44c1.htm (This is the same as the one from the seller charissa_kids on ebay; it's just cheaper on taobao.)
http://item.taobao.com/auction/item_detail-0db1-2a5e9bccfa90f82f465d46ecc5baf926.htm

The first one might be a tiny bit closer in color, but the second one is about eight dollars cheaper. Any thoughts or suggestions about these two? If anyone has bought either wig and has pictures, I would love to see them. Also, I'm open to being pointed toward other wigs. Accuracy is important to me, but I do like to save money whenever possible.

Thanks.

Hi guys! I need a little help with fabric choices for Kaguya Sumeragi royal outfit from Code Geass. Here is her image. http://code-geass.bandai-ent.com/cha...aguya_COMP.gif

I have satin already for her under-dress part. But what should I use for her kimono part? I sort of wanted to use similarly colors Chinese brocade for her top. But should I just stick to solid color satin as the image shows? (If I can find them in the same colors)?

Thread resurrection for the latecomer xD

I'm planning on starting C.C.'s empress dress (itsuki<3pudding linked the artbook colored version and RedSonia linked the sketches above) soon and I'm actually very excited about it. I've started picking out fabrics I think will work well (peachskin for the dress and maybe the hip panel things, ivory chiffon for an underskirt to add a bit of texture and contrast), but I'm a little at a loss on two things. First, (I can't go back through all the pages and find this answer) does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for the gold trim? I was looking at things like vinyl and PVC, but most are either too shiny, have glitter in them, or are $30 a yard. And second, what would you guys suggest I make the shoulder pieces from? I was thinking about heavy craft interfacing, maybe layered for extra stability and strength), but I'd like to get other opinions.

I just finished my C.C-Empress dress (the artbook version, not the sound episode one)

Two weeks of suffering and now it just needs the crystals to be attached.

I've made it of bridal satin and silk. (Silk for the gold-detailing.)

I have no idea how I'll be able to take to con without damages.... but I have to hope for the best it'll manage the car-trip.

Sorry for the bad English but I hope I will make sense. If I should tackle this costume for myself, I will have the design embroidered. I will put the design on paper first, where the lines of the design will be embroidered on to the fabric. After which, I will cut out the holes using an art knife or a tiny pair of scissors, leaving the embroidery as the border of the design, and it will stop the fabric from fraying.

If you don't have access to an embroidery machine to do that. I suggest that you draw the said design on the fabric, after which, put it on top of a stiff material (ex. canvas, felt cloth.) Then get a cheap thin solid cloth for the lining or prefferably the same fabric you will be using for the top. Use fabric glue to bond the top fabric, stiff material, and lining together. After that you can cut the holes. For a more luxurious outcome, get a cord or a thin gimp, and stitch it along the drawn design, the finer your stitch the better, before you cut the holes in.

Hope that helps.^_^

I forgot to mention, that the first set of instructions was for the patterns on the sleeve and chest. This is the instructions for the skirt.

Draw the design on the fabric and cut the holes out with a few millimeters of allowance. The tricky part of this project is burning off the edges of the holes for it not to fray. That requires lots of dedication, focus and hardwork. Procedure: Get a candle, long thin nail, pliers, rag/paper towel, bastidor (Spanish; a wood frame to stretchout fabric; usually used for embroidery, sorry I don't know the english translation of the product yet ^_^; ) and wood surface you wouldn't regret getting damaged (plank of wood preferrably without paint).

I suggest you do this before you put the garment all together. Set the portion to be burned on the bastidor over the wood surface. Hold the nail with the pliers and heat it until it partially turns red, then place it milimeters close enough to the fabric to melt off the edges of the holes. Be careful not to turn it black or burn it. Remember to clean/wipe the nail often.

If I get a project like this, I'll prolly try to use a soldering iron, but then again I still need to experiment on that one.

Good luck!

Hey all I plan on doing Kallen's black knight uniform (black jacket and shorts), but I'm not sure how to go about making the jacket. Are there any specific patterns you recommend?

(I've done the costume search and no one seems to explain how they made any part of the outfit, so I thought I'd ask here).

Yay for Kallen cosplays! I hope I can help you out!

As I'm quite the novice sewer, I went ahead and ordered my Kallen cosplay (the same version you're doing) from Hellocosplay. It came sooner than expected and is FANTASTIC quality... but that's not the point. The way they made the jacket is that there is an "under flap" which you snap up under the "main flap" which also has a bunch of snaps. Basically, there's two different closing mechanisms, one that is unseen and smaller and one that is seen and covers the first. I'm sorry if that sounds confusing; it's a bit hard to explain without just showing you! I would try something similar like this, however, as it definitely works. If you'd like some pictures I'd be more than willing to take a few.

I considered ordering from them but I have a con in less then 3 weeks and didn't think it would get here in time (lol), so I'm going to try and make it. If I don't finish in time, oh well :).

Pictures would be great, thanks!

Okay, I'll try and post them ASAP!

And I actually was in your same boat; my friend and I decided at the last minute that we were attending FanExpo in Canada at the end of the month about a week ago... When I ordered from there, I put that I needed the costumes to arrive at my address by August 27th (the absolute LATEST time I could take it) and not only did they honor my request, but they express-shipped my costumes for free. I ordered last Friday; they came this Friday!

I'm finishing a casual Euphie cosplay. ^_^ All I gotta do is style the wig, which may be a while cause A LA isn't until January, which is where I plan on Debuting it. I'm really excited, cause it's my first cosplay!

Took me a while to find this thread buuuuuuuuut....
FOUND IT!!!!!!

Anyway, together with some friends will be making a Code Geass cosplay group for Abunai 2011 (the netherlands)

Will go by nicknames for them also.
This is supposed to be a secret cosplay group for that convention. But I can't help but to post it somewhere. So thats why I'll do it here. Doubting many people will be around here and check stuff out so...

F1shhy (that be me): Kallen Kouzuki and Guren Mk-II (yea the knightmares)
Mewnine: Lelouch Lamperouge and Gawein
Tr-Jessie: Anya Alstreim

We will be competing with the mecha's in the fashion show and with the whole group in the cosplay act competition.

Let me know what you all think of it.

PS. The knightmares will be 2.5-3 meters tall.

I cosplayed Suzaku in his orange uniform a while back, but I'm actually getting rid of it now. No one seems to want it in the marketplace, though, which is sad. ^^; It's just taking up space in my tiny closet...

I think it's a sword. I kind of see a guard in there XD

Also a mention, just got my Romantic Variation CC outfit! The wig was too thin to put into a bun. If only it would look good if it was straight. Bleah. Haha. Can't put it on either. Just too big around the bust >< The bow came with it but I forgot to add it into the picture.

I am defiantly thinking it's a sword in it's sheath. Looks like a very decorative guard on the handle and hilt area.

Hi theree~ (I'm totally trying to bring this thread back to life with deletor007)

My friend and I were planning to cosplay characters from Code Geass R2 for Anime Boston next year! I know that the Code Geass era kinda passed over and we're late but my friend was dying to cosplay C.C and she wanted me to cosplay with her so I chose Anya (since she's close to my height keke).

She's pretty much good on her own but I looked through this whole thread (sooo long) for help with Anya's Knight of Round uniform. I've read comments on how the white coat looks easy but is actually really hard. However, there were no tips on constructing it. All I know is that I should be using some kind of bottomweight (?). If there are any tips Anya-cosplayers would like to pass on please message mee or reply to this post. This is super early to be starting a cosplay but I was hoping to finish before summer is over as I'll be starting college soon >.<.

To all the Anya cosplayers that have posted to this thread, you girls look awesome :D. I can't wait to look just as awesome (I hope). And if you're attending Anime Boston 2012 be on the lookout for my friend and meee.

I'm not sure if this threasd is dead or not, but I'll try anyway!

Ok I'm more or less a cosplay newbie (I've made 2 cosplay, one for Vampire Knight, I was Yuki as a night class student) the cosplay I've made was from things in my house and in my closet with a lot of cutting and glueing together essentially. But now I'm ready to move on and stop being so amateur. I want to buy fabric and sew, actually MAKE my cosplay and put time and effort into something I can be proud to wear and say "HEY. I made this!" you know that kind of thing. I am African American but you know what I don't think it matters, I want to cosplay and as long as it looks good I'm going to cosplay! Don't knwo why I mentioned that but anyway. I digress.

So, in light of that, I want to try to make C.C cosplay, I just love her and Code Geass, and I was going to try to make her straight jacket she has for most of the first season:

http://www.cosplay1st.com/code-geass-c-c-cosplay-costume.html

I am...okay with a sewing machine and I can get my way around it, I can't do a lot (if any) of elaborate stitching but I'm sure I can learn in time. So I was wondering if anyone had or knew about any patterns that would be good for this outfit, and what fabrics I should use to make it more authentic, any kind of information to start would be great because I am not at any sort of level to make up my own pattern.

Thank you in advance! :)

P.S If anyone knows where I can get a very good quality C.C wig that would be great!

I'm not really well-acquainted with sewing Lawleitfan .. I'm sorry I can't be of help. =(
For the cloth to use though, maybe something a bit thick? Thicker than Genna Silk that is; but not as heavy as cotton. Spandex-type of cloth may also look good..

Been a fan of Code Geass since its release. Zero would be my favorite character -- I vowed that I will make the Zero helmet. And cosplay him eventually I guess. XD

Right now we're making Zero's Sword. We plan to make a sheath for it as well; as we saw in the action figure.

I've been wanting to do the Ashford Academy High School Uniform for girls for a while, but I messed up on it. If anyone has some advice for me from what pattern I should use to sewing techniques that would be great!
