View Full Version : EGL/EGA/cute-and-sweet/classic lolita/whatever Gathering

What does everyone think of this gathering for lovers of this general genre of fashion? Dress up or bring stuff to talk about. I didn't want to make it seem too exclusive, so I thought I'd include more sub-categories.

We may also need some camera(wo)men. I know some tend to come around, but hopefully a few of us or friends can volunteer a bit of time to give individual photoshoots for those willing. I will have a video camera to go around and get footage.

Right now I'm looking into day 1 (friday) in the evening for maybe a lolita cafe where we can have some refreshments and chill, maybe a small gift exchange. How does that sound? Would you prefer a tea exchange like they did at AX a few years back? Some input would be nice.

I'm trying to avoid having this too close to any big music events or panels.

Some things we need:
~Picnic blankets to sit on (approximately one per every 3 people)
~Disposable plates
~Snacks (ideas on what you guys want, anyone?)

A lolita gathering sounds fun! Ive never been to one before, and my Dark Dorothy costume is almost complete...It could be at a cafe, or attendees could bring snacks and refreashments and have a picnic type set up with blankets and everything ( I saw this done at AX'06 inside the con center and it looked cute. Its funny cuz at the time I didn't know what is was). If we do it this way, we need a list of what everyone's bringing. Just tell me whats appropriate to bring.

YAY! I didn't realize I had a response! XD

I'll make a list and post it soon.

I may also need some help organizing this thing, so if anyone want to send me suggestions for me to take into account, please PM me.

I'm totally up for this! I love having get-togethers like this. I can bring anything you'd need me to, from blankets to food.

Oh! Now I want to go to PMX, I should talk my friend into it. Last year I think the lolitas gathered in the hotel cafe. Or maybe the open air garden would be nice.

There were so many really cute cosplayers of this genre last year and they were tiny Japanese girls who love this genre too.It was awesome seeing them in those outfit so I wont be surprised if there will a bunch out there at this coming PMX especially if we have really awesome guest bands again. There were lots of the punk genre too because of Nana.

So if you have a gathering there, I wont be surprised if it will be a big one.
Last year, one of the main guest was the creator/designer of this fashion himself. That would be the reason why there were so many last year.

I do welcome other people to take charge or help me take charge of this gathering. I know I'm infamous for making plans and cancelling. If I do it this time, someone please hunt me down and smack me with a fish. I also know I"m rather inactive as of late. My dad has placed me under internet arrest for the summer so I'm forbidden to go online for extended periods until maybe late september.

I'm very much for the "outting under the stars idea." I'm gussing we're going to need some blankets and picnic blankets. I have one that I'm bringing, but I think we might need one for every 3 to 4 girls at least depending on how much space each person's outfit takes up and the size of the spread.

I have an idea of some food items to bring. I'll edit the first post accordingly if you guys can think of more things to add.

Just be aware that The Hilton at LAX does not much of an outdoor area at all.

We'll improvise. ;)

Aw, I wish I could make it but I can't go on the Friday because of school, and my mom's working and she's the only way I could get there. D=

Darn, just one more year until I can drive myself... -grumble-

Kabuki KILLER, I will definately help with the planning. Im looking foward to this gathering a lot ( I know, I have the same habit as you, but together we can do it ^_^). We need to first decide on a location for the gathering. So people, where can we have it? Anyone know the LAX Hilton hotel well and know a place. What are our options?

I had a good time at the Loli-Goth gathering at AX this year, so I'll probably show up, with camera in tow. The EGA "look" is really cool.

awesome...I'll be sure to spread things around to some others I know of...I'd like to get some pics of this!

If we wanna make this happen, we need to choose a location. Anyone know this hotel well or have any ideas as to where we can have it?

10-02-2007, 12:36 AM
We can set a location once I get a floorplan of the place. This way we can vote on it like a democracy. Lol.

Do we want decorations or not?

Sorry if I've been inactive as of late. Parents always pestering me about my computer usage. But I will have a list up by the end of the week maybe. I'm not anticipating a huge HUGE gathering, so a little planning should go a long way. **crosses fingers**

Anyone going to volunteer to bring something? Or would you all rather we head over to a restaurant to chow down?

I think bringing things would be nice, but with people traveling and all the restaurant idea might be better.

Kabuki KILLER said something about a gift(or tea) exchange. What IS a tea exchange?

11-02-2007, 10:10 PM
A tea exchange is basically everyone brings a box of tea bags of their choice and we put numbers on the boxes in order that we recieved them and draw numbers out of a hat to see who gets which box of tea. Well that's how I'd do it. I recommend a box of bag tea (usually around 20 ct bags) over the loose tea. I know a lot of American supermarkets are limited in what kind of tea they carry, so if you live near an asian supermarket or trader joe's, might want to try that. They'll cost around 2-3 bucks.

Sorry about not getting back to you guys sooner, but with the concerts going on Friday (which run until midnight), do you think it would be a better time to schedule this thing on Saturday? I actually can't come on Friday anyways because that's the one week I have classes every weekend morning. I'm not well versed on the musical acts and stuff going on on Saturday, so if this falls through, I'll still wait in the lobby around supper time on Saturday for anyone that does still want to hang out for dinner.
