View Full Version : Anyone here like Shoenen Jump?

05-16-2003, 08:27 AM
I love all the mangas in there! One of my favs is Yugioh..Ive never seen one anywhere else! I also like Shamen king...And Naratu (I may have spelled that wrong...)

i haven't checked one out yet, although I really want to.

If the rumours of Kenshin going into it are true, then I'll DEFINETLY be getting it :)

I really like Shounen Jump. I get excited anytime we get it in our store (which means I get free copies of the old issues).

Yu Gi Oh is awesome. I honestly was shocked at how dark and graphic the manga is.

My other favs are Shaman King, Naruto, and Once Piece. All very very enjoyable, and its nice to read it from right to left (since all the rest of my manga is imported).

I enjoy reading all of the stories in Shonen Jump except for DBZ. I'm not a big fan of DBZ.

05-16-2003, 11:19 PM
It's only $5 and is bigger than a graphic novel i'm sure most people would like that. I'll like it a lot more if and when they put Rurouni Kenshin in it.

I like it:)

If kenshin is in it.. i will get it.

Oh, that is so cool, ive been reading the japaneese shonen jump, and I think its cool that it is available in america

its like a graphic novel for only 500
is the same manga in both the japaneese and american?

05-20-2003, 12:09 PM
I like it quite a bit. I too was a bit surprised at how dark Yu-Gi-Oh! is. I like One Piece a whole lot too. Naruto and Shaman King still have to grow on me. Yu Yu Hakusho is cool too. And Sandland is funny. I love Akira Toriyama's style. And of course, I am glad to have DBZ in it, especially when next issue introduces my favorite character of all time! >.< It's nice to get the stuff I already own printed in a larger size... =nodnod=

It'd be sweet if they got Kenshin. Is that the rumor or a truth? It'd be nice to get some of the Shonen Jump long running comics in, but I don't think it'll happen.

One thing I don't like is that it comes out monthly. While Raijin comics comes out weekly, I think that is a bit too often for my budget. I want to read City Hunter and also get the free little secondary issue things with reports about Japan (cosplay!) and games and whatnot. :/ It'd be nice if Shonen Jump came out twice a month...

05-20-2003, 12:34 PM
I read Shonen Jump every month and I actually find myself getting impatient for the next issue to come out. Definitely loving Naruto, Shaman King and One Piece but I like being able to expand into the stories I normally wouldn't pick up as a GN.

If Kenshin gets in... then my joy will be complete.

I've got a subscription...It's kind of like an everyday thing..go to school, come home, drink a mocha frapichino and read shonen...

06-01-2003, 11:39 AM
Well, it looks like they might be carrying Kenshin sometime soon...there is a big feature article in this month's Jump about the Kenshin manga. ^_____^

Plus this month's issue has the first appearance of my favorite cyborg! >.<! eeeeee! so badass!

if it kenshin does come out on shounen jump.. pls tell me what issue it will be in.

06-02-2003, 01:12 PM
Ok, the article in Shonen Jump says that the Kenshin manga will be available this November. However, it doesn't mention whether it will be IN Shonen Jump, or released as a Shonen Jump GN (graphic novel - aka what all the Tokyopop manga are). I am fine with either, especially since Shonen Jump's GNs are all like 8 bucks a pop instead of 10 (the Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece and DBZ GNs they are putting out are all $7.99, I think).

^^ Can't wait.

I need to pick up the new issue of shonen jump, but that ain't going till friday.
Number 18: let me guess? you? LOL XD

So far, I want to see more one piece..I'm really starting to dig the manga. If they include the Kenshin manga, then Yeah, I'll read it as well.

Just got the newest issue, still loving it all!

06-03-2003, 11:46 PM
I'm actually suprised I've lasted this long with this book, but what can i say, it's won me over. I mean, it's like every manga in there is beyond great. Even DBZ and Yu-Gi-Oh, two mangas I thought were gonna bore me, rock my socks on a monthly basis. As for a favorite, it's either Naruto or One Piece. Choosing between ninjas and pirates isnt an easy decision.

And I can't wait til Kenshin replaces Sand Land in November. ^_^x Go Viz!

06-04-2003, 12:36 AM
One Piece!!! Yeah!! And Naruto! I also like Shaman King. Yu-gi-oh is cool too. Not too crazy about dbz. It's too old. Been around too long. Got bored with it fast.

06-11-2003, 01:43 PM
Yeah! I think Shonen Jump is great! I like One Piece and Naruto the most and I like Shaman King too.

06-16-2003, 07:49 PM

Anything that putting Kenshin on Shonen Jump... I like the covers of the mangas... (Hell, I have Kenshin up to volume 13 in French... Why am I worried?)

How much longer till sandland bites it, I mean Akira Toriyama is cool and all but Sandland is the only manga in the Jump that I don't really like. I happy Narutto is in it I was shocked after I watched an import of the 1st Dvd and to my surprise I found it in Shonen just when i started buying it, and a bonus is that it took place durring/after the events of the last ep on the dvd so I got to see more ^_^. And of course Kenshin is the man, I hope it's brought in GN form though now that I think about it , it would be less expensive to collect it all that way.

<---I love Kenshin! And it is def. gonna be in Shonen Jump! It starts appearing *checks July's ish* In November it says here! I actually just jumped on the Shonen Jump bandwagon! I bought my first ish like a week ago! Boy, do i love it! lol! I love Shaman King so much, that we are currently gonna cosplay it! (Me and Yoh, my friend as Ren, my sis as Anna, and my little cousin as Manta!) I am estatic that Kenshin will be in it! CAN'T WAIT!

I got a subscription to Shonen Jump. Within the hour, I've read the entire thing. ^_^ I love it. Its great to get manga delivered right to my doorstep.

But as far as an anime magazines go, I love Newtype USA the most. Its great way to keep up with the latest animes. But its manga (Full Metal Panic!) got nothing on Shonen Jump's.

07-07-2003, 07:10 PM
Just got the newest issue and loving it. Naruto, One Piece, Shaman King and Yu-gi-Oh are my favs!

07-10-2003, 02:29 AM
I like shounen jump now because it got me into Yu Gi Oh. Who would've imagined..of all things Yu Gi Oh. o.o i used to hate it [the anime sucked? I guess..] but the manga is hilarious and great :D. I'm also glad they've released my two favorite series Naruto and One Piece.

07-10-2003, 09:14 AM
heh I definitely Shonen Jump. One Piece, Naruto & Shaman King is what got me interested in the magazine.

07-15-2003, 06:23 PM
I just wish the US Jump was weekly like the Japanese Jump. Heh that probably means that the annual subscription would be astronomically high. The nice thing about having a weekly Jump would be that there would be space to carry more variety of different manga in the US jump.

07-16-2003, 03:22 AM
I get Jump, and I love it so very, very much. Yugioh's my fav, then One Piece, then Naruto. I wish I got the Japanese Weekly Jump, though because I REALLY want to know what's goin on with the ancient Egyptian backstory right now in Yugioh

I've heard a rumor going around about that Jump is going to be bi-weekly once it reaches a certain number of subscribers. Can't wait for that!

07-16-2003, 06:32 PM
Yeah, that number is 3,000,000.

07-17-2003, 01:24 PM
I love that magazine! Naruto and Shaman King are the best!!!

07-17-2003, 08:40 PM
ive heard about it ^_^ im a girl though my friend had it and there was this page aboyut ffx-2 that i loved ^_^ i wonder if they have shoujo-jump or soemthing O.o

07-22-2003, 03:07 PM
u know in the very begining I did. But I don't want to get it anymore. I don't kno why i don't like it. I would want to just get NewType magazine better. I duno, mayb cause of the manga's that r in it. But i don't kno what news they have now.

07-24-2003, 09:13 PM
Finally got my subscription going. I had read my friends old ones and I like everything but Sandland.

07-29-2003, 01:26 AM
I really wish they'd put the Fire Emblem manga that was in the Japanese Weekly Jump in the US version (I have a volume of it my cousin brought back from Japan)! Or at least not have 2 manga by the same artist running at the same time. It's kind of annoying that they have 2 manga by Akira Toriyama (niether of which I like), but they said something in one issue about not running Hunter x Hunter in it because they're already running Yu Yu Hakusho. ><;

07-29-2003, 06:32 PM
I only got one Shonen Jump, because it was free @ Suncoast, and I wasn't really impressed with it. The only part I really liked about it was the Yugi-oh manga, and that's not enough to pay so much for it. NewType is definitely a better investment.
