View Full Version : seeking costume change advice

Okie dokie. My first year at Otakon, and I am curious:

How does everyone else usually go about during the day costume changes?

I won't be staying close to the BCC, so I planned on leaving stuff in my car. Unless there is a better way to store a trunk...

Also any costume contest advice? I know I can do hall stuff, but should I lay off the stage competition this year?

Thanks in advance!

BRING TOWELS!! I knoe from first hand experience, the bathrooms are the shittiest place to change into your costume!

If you have anything that has anykind of glue Dont leave it to roast in your car. Even in the parking garage it will melt.. all taht heat circulating.. ugh my poor hat!

Anywho, speaking of your car, and getting back to my towel thingy, cover up the windows with towels or blankets of some kind if you are going to change costumes. WE all know no one wants to see your crown jewels exposed for all convention atendees and the general public to see.

Also changing costumes is a good time to freshen up.. Wash up put on some deodorant(Do you really want to funk up your precious costume??) grab some snacks rest for a bit and hydrate!

Since all the adult stage competition pre-con spots are taken, that means there is only like what - 15 spots up for grabs at con. So, unless you have an absolute killer of a costume - its probably a lost case.

Hi everyone :

Just so you know, there will be changing rooms again this year. They will NOT have storage space for your costumes, but at least there's an area other than the bathroom for changing.

Remember also that aside form the on-stage masquerade, there are also two hall costume contests.
