On a recent grocery run I saw a flier for a local "fall jubilee"- and it apparently includes a costume contest for all age groups including adults. This event is scheduled for October 6, 4pm-8pm, with the costume judging (all age groups) between 4pm and 5pm. Admission is free.

This could be a good non-convention cosplay opportunity, if anyone's interested. I'll most likely be wearing Peach for it.

Can you post a link? If I'm in town that weekend I might go.

I would also like to know where! If I can get my Shippuuden Sakura done in time, it would be nice to go. ^^

...though the website makes no mention of a costume contest. ^^;;

No, that's not it at all (why would a Manassas event advertise in Fairfax?). I unfortunately didn't get the address, and the store where I saw the flier originally has since taken it down (or some vandal pulled it down, I don't know). I contacted Fairfax County Parks and Rec for more info, and they asked me to tell them where the event was being held. Well, that's certainly helpful. :rolleyes:

For what it's worth I believe the address/location on the flier was listed as somewhere on Main Street.

For Clarification purposes... I used to live in Fairfax [Centreville] and there would be fliers up for things going on in Vienna. It's just used to draw more people.. Hopefully we'll find out where this place is... Keep an eye out everyone!!

well, this site seems to have a lot of info about fall festivals in the area:
http://www.virginia.org/site/features.asp?featureid=351&pf=1

but the link from my previous post was the only one with the words "fall jubilee" and the same date mentioned. *shrugs*

Well, this event is hosted by a local ice cream shop, so it's not a huge thing (that may be why I wasn't getting anywhere with digging up information). However, as luck would have it my mom and I were craving milkshakes and had just finished eating at a nearby restaurant, and I asked for a copy of the flier.

Here's a scan of it (warning: I didn't shrink it because the text became less and less readable when I tried to), with the times and address. (http://img215.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled1yv2.jpg)

In any case, do keep in mind that this is not a con and is intended to be a family-oriented event. Therefore, I strongly advise that all weapons/props and skimpy costumes be left at home and/or saved for Anime USA.

Thanks for the scan of the flier! I don't think my costume will be done on time... ^^;; Maybe I'll just drop by for the ice cream. :D

Trying to round up some friends from the NVAA Anime Club to see if they want to go.

Well, I didn't see anybody there I recognized from here. However, my Peach costume won first prize in the Adults category.
