I've been searching for awhile. I was really hoping to find a DIY thread on at least one person's attempt at making a gundam robot. I don't care which one, just so I can get some ideas is all. Now I know there should be tons of threads out there about making this, maybe not a DIY thread per say, but you know what I mean. Can some one direct me in the correct path with some links or something. Maybe even some helpful advice?

Yep, here you go. One of the first places to visit is "Mecha Cosplay Tips," which although somewhat outdated, contains a wealth of information about mecha cosplay and how to get started:
Eva_Guy01 also helps out with running Cosplay.ph ("The Phillipine Cosplay Compendium"), which contains a decent number of mecha suit builders:
If you want to be impressed by Japanese Gundam suits, take a look at Gadget Tool's professional cosplay site. He also goes by the name of "Goldy," whose Freedom Gundam has been featured here on Cosplay.com (http://images.cosplay.com/gallery.php?cat=63921&member=1).
English (so-so translation): http://gaogaygar.fc2web.com/EnglishIndex.htm
Bioweapons.com is another good site if you're especially interested in making body casts and form-fitting, durable armor; examples of his works include a highly-detailed replica of the Biobooster Armor Guyver suit (http://members.cosplay.com/costume/64068/). EvilFX, the username of its maker, has been doing this for many years as a professional, and his tutorials for the common person are detailed and very complete:
And...that's what I can provide for you thus far. I'm personally trying to get started on a mecha project, and I can tell you that it'll be a very long time before the final costume is completed. Nevertheless, it should be a great learning experience; who doesn't love giant robots, anyway? :D
