Granted, there's the big FF vs Nintendo photoshoot going on, but in addition to that; I'd love to try something new and take the whole VERSUS theme one step further... and your involvement is highly welcome! Bring yourself, a friend, their friend, and hell - anyone you met that Saturday at MEGACON (http://www.megaconvention.com) to join up for the biggest... most amazing...
RED VERSUS BLUE
...photo opportunity to date at MegaCon!

Here's the details...

» Despite the title, this isn't just limited to the hilarious RoosterTeeth animated series, Red Vs Blue, or even the recently released Team Fortress 2's "Red vs Blu(e)" squads. These are most definitely encouraged as possible costumes! I know a bunch of people planning to go in Team Fortress 2 RvB gear, so the more, the merrier. Who knows, we might even get Chell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_%28video_game%29) to bring us a slice of that infamous Aperture Science baked cake. :crylaugh:

» In fact... it could be ANY costume, regardless of colouration or style. You could be dressed as Vincent Valentine of FFVII (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincent_valentine) or even Luigi of the Mario Bros (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luigi) for all I care. Even if the character doesn't even bear RED or BLUE at all, you can be part of this...

» ...but if "anyone" can enter, who's side would the cosplayer be on? Would Mario (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario) obviously be on Red and someone like Marth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marth_%28Fire_Emblem%29) be on Blue by default? Well, that would be definitely encouraged! However, for those with a not so blatant colour scheme, you get the option of choosing what side would be appropriate!

» "Wait a minute... if I get to choose, how would sides be even?" Good question, easily answered... I don't 'expect' sides to be completely even. HOWEVER, if the participation numbers for this cosplayer get-together is good enough, we will appropriately even out the sides.

» "Okay, that's fine. But how will participants be marked for either side?" RED and BLUE ribbons/armband/badges. That way, if a non-participating person is cosplaying Knuckles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knuckles_the_Echidna), they won't be mistaken for a participating cosplayer dressed as Vash the Stampede (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vash_The_Stampede). A sample photo of the RED and BLUE markers will be posted closer to the MegaCon event time. Yes, these badges are FREE with proof of admission to MegaCon. Thus... No MegaCon badge/wristband, no RvB badge. We do want to support the convention afterall, since a lot of hard work has gone into hosting it each year - of which I personally thank them for. :sunburn:

» I mentioned the participation numbers a couple times, but if they turn out better than expected... I do have some surprises in store; ranging from a sponsored Hall Costume Contest with nice prizes for the winners to an actual RvB game. Stay tuned for that and definitely pass on the word.

» That's all the details for now... if you have any relevant questions, comments, or even suggestions; please feel free to comment here, PM, or email me (makiotwist at gmail dot com).

Awesome, the more the merrier. :sunburn:

I just hope the topic title didn't sway people off thinking it was just a HALO gathering(because it's obviously more than that!).

DAMMIT MAKIO QUIT STEALING MY GOOD IDEAS! *cough* I mean having them first. I may have a blue costume for this. It'd be a faerie. Not sure if I will have it finished for Megacon but that's the only one that would really apply for this year.

fightstar --- That's actually what's being debated upon right now amongst myself and those helping out. Armbands would be the best option at present, but ribbons or pinned buttons are also being considered. I should have a big update ready no later than this time next month, tops.

Juego --- After seeing your TF2 costumes, I *highly* welcome you aboard. A couple friends and I are set to bring out our TEAM FORTRESS 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_fortress_2) costumes for Megacon Saturday, of which we hope will help enhance the numbers turning out for the RED vs BLUE event. BTW, for those who haven't played TF2 or if you're on the fence about buying THE ORANGE BOX (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Orange_Box)... most places will be selling the PC version of it for $25 on November 23rd/Black Friday. :sunburn:

Also... if anyone has any further comments, suggestions, or constructive input related to the event, don't hesistate to drop a comment here or PM/IM me about it!

Much apologies about the delay in information, folks. There were a couple things that needed to be ironed out detail-wise before we proceeded further with explaining the gathering in an upcoming posted reply.

The event is still set for Megacon Saturday (March 8th) and expect to have that aformentioned "big information update" posted both here and upon various LiveJournal cosplay boards this incoming weekend. I'm actually scheduling a photosession to display some of the props and items for the event as well, so I'll also have links to my own Cosplay.com gallery for visual details.

Oh... and remember the previous post about the Photoshoot, Capture Point, and Costume-related contest mini-events? Yep, that'll also be detailed. Stay tuned! :sunburn:

As promised(well, part of it anyway); I uploaded some progress shots (http://images.cosplay.com/gallery.php?cat=101713&member=584) of myself as DEMOMAN and my friend Durandal1707 as ENGINEER. Still awhile to go, more details to iron out on both the costumes and this gathering.

We are thankful to have LIVEWIRE PRODUCTIONS handle the majority of our photosession though!

Oh jeeze, I gotta involve myself in almost everything, since i'll actually have a costume this year! xD My friend will most definitly be on the Blue team, since his costume is just that, blue. Depending on how many people will be on either team, i'll side with however might need me. That is if it's free to all who are attending and want to join.
