wow, you must have a cool school to have cosplay days ^_- Back in college, when I wore blue lipstick and spiked my hair all crazy for client presentations, nobody ever even said anything. It's like nobody cared. (Curse you, Milwaukee. xP )

Um, er, anyway...so pictures you need? Well, what songs do you like best and what are your construction skills (or how much fundage do you have access to?) J-rock cosplays take a lot of time, love and attention. And money. So make sure you pick someone you really love to portray.
...Or...if you're looking for just j-rock inspired original outfits, I suggest you invest in as many Gothic Lolita Bibles as you can locate. Fruits may also be beneficial to a lesser extent.

But, but...Aoi is closed right now. ;P

BTW, are we looking for good j-rock cosplay photos or good refs of actual real costumes?

I'd have to join in here.I've always wanted to try a j-rock cosplay or two,but all i come across are......dresses.....and I'm not really the dress type.

*pounce* Welcome, then, my friend...heheheheh
Yeah, there's a lot of feminine styles at the front of visual kei, but not all of them are, for sure. Um, perhaps I might seduce you into some Dir en Grey goodness...? Or...if you're feeling bright and fruity and up to some Psycho, we can never have too much of them.
...Then you are invited to our soccer game, too. ^_-

Damnit....I should have expected this.
Let's have some ref sites/pics up.

hehe our school dosen't have cosplay days they r just very lineant on dress code, so me and my friend just want to dress up on certain days for fun^_^ya i agree w/ lone wolf i'm not looking for ne dresses just like a jacket, sleeves, shirt, skirt type of thing. i dun rele know alot of jrock artists but i rele love sum of manas outfits, but he has alot of dresses so i dunno. maybe sum ppl can post sum of there fav outfits and we can go from there^_^thx!

Well PLC's *probably* a little too out there for ya, LW, but anyway...

And Diru's kinda all over the board in terms of pretty to scarey, simple to complex...
(probably one of the best sites for pics...) http://www.crysania.com/tattered/

Actually the thought just occured to me that maybe we could do X Japan's costumes from the anime music vid of Rusty Nail...uh, even if nobody would recognize us. Yeah, but everyday I go to work, I vow that I will someday loot the tail off the alien hanging from the ceiling for hide. But it'd be cool if anybody else would be interested in doing that group someday. (Toshi's outfit is very Tsume-ish. ^_- ) Um, but I'd have to actually make ya copy of the video or something, because I don't think I remember ever seeing stills from it on a site anywhere.

And yes, you -should- have expected this. Fear us!

Off topic but...

You're insane and a Jrock cosplay corrupting fiend Yui. *laughs*

On topic!...

More Jrock cosplay goodness. Um. Yes. Go forth and cosplay. Yadda yadda.

For some more ideas:
Here's a cool Japanese site that shows quite a few j-rock cosplay commissions:
And here's a bizarre j-rock cosplay page (in Russian!):
And a big HK site with tons of photos of various j-rock at cons:

I'm insane and a fiend, you say? I take that as quite a compliment. ^_^

there is nothing wrong with being a little obsessed with j rock cosplaying.... I got all my friends to support Nurikyo and mine's insanity XD

05-26-2003, 09:55 PM
It was meant to be quite a compliment. *grin*

I'd offer my help with the links but Yui's got it all handled. XD

lol thx!

Me,I still see stuffs that are a) dresses b)elaborate/pricey c)look like dead animals.
I'm doing the attached costume for Otakon.
Hence,I will be *very* poor.

05-27-2003, 12:06 PM
wow dude that rulz^_~

ya i know what u mean too many dresses and never rele thought about it but sum do look like dead animalsO.o;but that costume rulz^_^

05-27-2003, 02:48 PM
Hey, nothing wrong with dead animals...I mean, so long as they're fake dead animals, I guess.
 Kao

...And...now, LW, don't be mucking our happy j-rock forums with Calintz, no matter how pleasant he is to look at it. (Isn't it weird that so many people wanna cosplay from Magna Carta and WoG3 and like -no one- has played either?)
Um, back to j-rock wear - maybe you might like to look into Pierrot. For one, while not massively visual, they are probably my overall and eternal fav band musically. And their costumes are very simple and stylish, but just a little different enough to count as a cosplay. (Well, different enough from most people's everyday fashions...I have a feeling I'd be dressing down from what I normally wear if I ever cosplayed them ^_-)

>>(Isn't it weird that so many people wanna cosplay from Magna Carta and WoG3 and like -no one- has played either?)

Magna Carta looks cool.I saw Malice Mizer.......thought "t3h hotties!"
........then I found out they were guys......and it scared the living bejeezus out of me.

On topic,Thanks for the perriot suggestion.
