I'm making a jacket very similar to Aeris' and I was wondering if any of the awesome Aeris cosplayers could lend me a hand^_^ Mostly, I need help making the sleeves puff and bell out like hers does^_^ Also...I'm using pleather, so, I don't know if that makes a difference regarding any advice, but, I thought I'd let you know^_^

Thank you sooo much!

Putting together an Aeris jacket isn't that hard. I used a red suede-like material for mine. (I don't know if I'd use pleather as it would seem to me to be too shiny and hot to wear.) In creating your Aeris pattern, it's important to leave enough room at the shoulders so that you can sew shoulderpads under them. To create the full sleeves of the jacket I just used a regular short sleeve pattern, only instead of having it taper towards the cuff, I cut it so that it was fuller. (I then gathered up the fabric and sewed it into a narrow cuff to create the puffed effect.)

To create Aeris' silver cuffs I used craft foam covered with plastic sheeting, painted silver. I sewed one half of a velcro strip to the inside of the cuffs and the corresponding half to the outside of the cuffed sleeve hems on the jacket (so if one wants to wash the jacket they can just slide the silver cuffs on and off.)

Aeris dress is also fairly simple to make. It's a simple sundress and I can't imagine sundress patterns would be too hard to find. I used thin pink fabric so I could line the dress without it being too bulky.

Here's a link to the Aeris Page at my cosplay site (http://amethyst-angel.com/so_cosplay_aeris.html) if you want to see and study how I made my costumes...

o.O It looks like you really know what you're doing Amethyst! I must say that you're right when you say that the actual dress isn't that hard, but the cuffs and such are my worry. thanks for the help!

Welcome! ^_^ (I always thought it might be a good idea to make some extra Aeris cuffs and sell them on ebay. I wonder if it'd be worth the trouble?)...
