hey all, sorry if this is in the wrong spot. But I'm wondering what the dueling device is called that they wear on their arms. And if toy versions have been merchandised for sale yet.

thanks

I think what you're talking about is the Duel Disk. And if any have been marketed, I haven't heard about them. I dun really keep up with merchandise that much anyway so I wouldn't know. Your best bet for something like that would be a search on google.com

No, a toy version of the Duel Disk has not been manufactured yet in North America, due to my knowledge.

However, you can make a nifty replica with foamboard. XD

k, thanks ^_^ I'll try to make one then. I though if there was a cheap toy version, I could paint it to look better, to go with a yugioh costume I'm making. Thanks again

It would be nice to have a ready-made Duel Disk system, but no, there isn't. You'd have to scratch-build.

I'd like to see one out of sintra or other hard plastic, to make it more durable. You wouldn't want to keep banging it into people as you walk through the halls and have it fall apart.

That looks interesting. il have to find some more pics of it. let you know what happens :)

yech I actually have to construct it >.< arghhh! oh well. I'll try my best, I'm not the best builder of things ^^;;
And if anyone has closeups of Kaiba's Red colored card he wears on the chain around his neck. I'd aprreciate if you could post some links. I'm new to the Yugioh series. But I totally fell in love with Kaiba and his costume when I saw it. I just hope I can pass as a guy once I'm finished ^^; lol

Akujin

serously tho you can pickup a cheap cd player or go all out and get a mp3/cd player so you can listen to all of those anime mp3's or any cd's you get while your there. i would go cheap tho so it doesent matter if you glue stuff to it X'D i think it could work. im going to try and make a sleve so i can slide my mp3 player into it. i thnk it could work!

well it could be a good base to build a deuling deck on, i guess. I'll check out some of the thrift stores in my neighborhood.

Kaiba's card is a locket of sorts that has Mokuba's picture inside from when they were younger. It's just the back of a regular Duel Monsters card - compare it to the decks, it's the same thing. So, you could get away with just finding a random card and slipping it inside the frame. I have a stack of duplicates for trading, I'd be happy to give you one. :)

Ive got my base for the Duel Disc System. Check it out. Ive got some things to glue on and then a paint job and il need a different strap (not leaving my watch in there Lol) The watch does keep if very stable tho. doesent slide side to side or fall kinds limp it is stiff and stays right in place. maby get a cheap watcha nd try that

NOTE: I used two different color pieces so you could see that they were glued together not one piece.

Il keep you updated ^^

worked on it a tiny bit today. gonna pickup some paint tomorrow. gotta find some way to paint the robber part since the rubber acts like a rubber stamp with the spray paint (the rubber area wont let the spray paint dry) anyway heres where i am (so far its all plastic btw)

I'm very curious now...where are you all planning on cosplaying yu gi oh???

I'm involved with a yu gi oh group, but it's a bit hush-hush and we are going to otakon. what about you??

odango-mango, do you mean the 'tray' from the battle city series or the 'disk' from the end of duelist kingdom. They are two very different dueling accessories ^_^

I won't finish my Yugi blue vest for a good while so I may not do Yugioh cosplay this year. Apart from maybe as Goth Yugi to a Harry Potter release party tomorrow. ;)

But I'm very interested to see pics of any and all Yugioh cosplayers, no matter where you are.

Duel disc? I thought you were talking about the Battle City device they had...with the flat plane they slipped their cards in.

Anyhoot, I have a site chock full of Japanese cosplayers with THOSE devices. Lord only knows what they made them out of. And Odango Mango, if you want some "real" yu-gi-oh! cards, just go to your local card shop (rpg/magic the gathering shop - will DEFINITELY have yugioh cards) and usually the place will have a binder full of worthless cards for like 10 cents a piece or some crap like that. =shrug=

Anyway, here is that site with the Japanese cosplayers on it...just click around. (some of you may have seen this alrady - i posted the link before on the dbz thread) Oh, and don't bother looking at it thru babelfish. You can navigate just fine.

Yeah, their duel disks are perfect, that site rocks! That's the Battle City Duel Disk, which I think is what everyone here wants to make. But Kaiba technically called his prototype the duel disk also, which he only really employed against Yugi once in Duelists Kingdom. I can't say as that one would be any easier to make than the Battle City Duel Disk System. BUT, since odango mango is going for a Kaiba costume, it's always possible. :)

I envy those damn Japanese cosplayers! lol. i changed from Kaiba Girl to the simplest costume in the whole Battle City arc, Joey!!!! I dunno, but i love it and it's a simple 'Sunday at the Con' costume anyway.....but i still need the dueling disk.....*looks at the site* Wow...those are great!

I'd like to see whatever people are working on. My Goth Yugi outfit is finally complete (I love thrift stores) and now I'm thinking I can't get away without a Duel Disk. But I've got a bazillion other projects first - I'll keep an eye here for tips.

BTW odango - letter received, return on the way!

The reason that their duelist Disk are so perfect, is because there's a prop maker in Japan that makes a bunch of the stuff and they just ordered it. I've been to the site and it's georgeous. I make an extremely simplified version of it for my little brother out of foam board, hot glue, duct tape, card protecters, and paper plates for my little brother that'll hold cards the night before animazement. The only problem with it was that we wouldn't figure out after I'd made it how to attach it to his arm. ^.^;;

Maybe later I'll spruce it up and make it look better...*shrugs*

and if you wanna try that, get the chinet paper plates that don't have the seperated food slots in them. The plates are real sturdy and remind me of card board....

Dar-Dar pickup a watch at the dollarstore cut some holes in the bottom of your item and slip the watch's bands through the holes :) then just put the giant watch on

If you goto the dollarstore the wathes are usually near the counter where you check out.

I am still working on mine. unfortunatly its been so rainy and ive been so busy with commissions and ebay i havent been able to spraypaint it or add anything new yet.

Thanks Akujin; that's a really great and simple solution to my problem, and I might just have an old watch laying around here somewhere that I can use. Thanks a bunch!

And to answer one of the earlier questions, I cosplayed as Pegasus at Animazement 2003 along with some of my other friends. My little brother was Yami Yugi, Mango was Bakura, and my little cousin Squally2207 was Tea Gardener.
