How would I make Sumomo's head piece. Technically since she is a robot it should be made out of plastic. Is there a way I can order it from someone to make it? Or does anyone know how I could make it? Here are a few pictures:

Personally, i would make the basic shape out of wire, fill in the spaces with cardboard or something, and cover it in felt ^^ felt just seems right for sumomo ^^;

Ok you know when you go to the craft store and you see all those white and green styrafoam circle things with no center? They're for making wreaths, or sumomo wigs. Wrap the fabric for the wig around it, attatch a button covered in your burgundy fabric, and some burgundy ribbon. Make sure not to get one too big tho, mine worked great, but was a little too big, throwing me off balance. It's cheap and easy.

I made a Sumomo costume for AXNY2002. [http://www.fansview.com/2002/newyork/090102c397.jpg]

The hat was DEFINATELY the hardest part- taking a day in itself. I rolled up long pices of fabric into tight logs and wrapped each with a thin, lightweight wire. I made 5 of these and attached them securely with more wire so that they were one on top of the other. I then wrapped them in a layer of quilt matting and white fabric [so you couldn't see though. I used scrap burgundy/beige fabric that I had lying around] Afterwards, I made a sleeve of fabric a bit taller [about 2 inches] than the logs and about 1.5 inches longer than them. Before actually sewing it into a sleve, you can sew the details into the hat [the curves on the side]. I slipped the sleeve over the logs and then proceeded to attach them tightly with wire so they would be in circles that would fit snuggly on my head. I sewed the sleve together and the world was happy. Next, I did some measuring and made a circle of fabric a bit wider than the hat. I attached it from the inside, and TADA! it was almost done. For the red things on the hat, I made little balls of the trim I bought for the swirls on the sash. I attached them to a shoelace and put it through small holes in the side of the hat. I tied a know at the end. In doing this, I made her Persocon plug things ^^. [it's also much easier than sewing them on XD] Anyway, I purchesed a wig from orientaltrading.com - they sell DIRT CHEAP pink wigs. I have short hair, so I dyed my real hair day-glo pink and put the wig in a ponytail and stuffed it through a hole in the top of the hat.

Seriously. My hat took like an hour or so. It's really easy and looks good if it's done the right size. Here's a look.

All you need is:

-styrafoam wreath
-lots of pins (you know the straight pins that have a long flat top)
-Hot glue
-Fabric glue
-4 hair combs (the kind that you put in your hair to make things stay

Cut the fabric to the right size, glue it, pin it, it's really not too hard. Adding the combs gets a little tricky but cosplayers are known for ingunuity. Just have a hot glue gun and lots of pins ready while making this. Half the fun in creating a costume is trying to figure out how to do what.

I can send you pictures of just the hat inside and out if you need.

I tried using a foam wreath, but I found it to be really unfomfortable, and its difficult to find one that fits properly on one's head.

It worked well with my wig. Mine was just a little too big. The combs help a lot.

Well, see... I kinda want to make mine realistic. I was thinking about using fiber glass or foam board and cover it with plastic sheeting. Because this is what I want to do:

In one picture and episode it shows Sumomo sitting down on Chii's shoulder with a vid screen. One of the little circles POPS out with a cord! So.. I was kinda wanting to do that so I could have it pop out with a black extension cord wrapped on the inside that can roll in and out. Anywhoo, that's just kinda my ideal. If not ^___^ I'll gladly take your ideas!!

XD XD I actually had the cords in mine.... but they were on string, and one had to pull them out by hand. ^^;;;

^___^ I want it to be functionable <3 :O It'd be cool if I could plug myself into a socket for a recharge XD; Would that electrocute me?

<edit> I hate typos </edit>

Yay! I have my head piece's begining steps complete! ^__^ I have the clay finished and I'm waiting for it to dry. It's a lil lumpy but I'm hoping when I create the rubber mold and turn it into plastic I can sand it down smooth and then paint it :D Here's a picture of it so far!
