if you look in my gallery, I did a Christian costume although there are a few things incorrect. What I based it on was what he was wearing towards the end of the film during the reprise of Come What May minus the overcoat.

what costumes are you planning on doing from the movie?

oooooooh... *thinks* I'd probably just go with a generic can-can girl, rather than anything or one specific from the movie. It's something you could have lots of fun with, turning it into your own personal dance hall girl sortof thing. *^_^*

Aha! I was just going to post the link to The Windmill. :-) I'm NiniStace there, I have a Nini dress that won awards last year. At DragonCon this year, we're doing a mega MR cosplay Friday night, with at least 25 people participating - Christian, Zidler, bohemians, Tolouse, and a whole mess of can-can girls both original and replica. Be there!

I know Simplicity has a costume pattern for a MR styled Can-Can dress like the one Nini and some of the other Diamond Dogs wore. Also if you can get access to a DVD-Rom and the second disk there are designs for the other dresses and outfit including the Black and Pink diamonds outfit, the as my mom calls it "Strawberry" dress. Another friend here is making a modified version of the Hindi Bride for her wedding dress. I'm making the lace robe as a thank you gift for a good friend...Ack I'm rambling, sorry.

McCall's Moulin Rouge pattern is slightly better than Simplicity. I used Simplicity but I've made a bazillion modifications since then. I only just completed re-ruffling the underskirt to make it accurate to the movie.

Good point about the second disc of the dvd, Yumeko. The costume galleries are rife with great pictures of all the dresses for both Satine and the dancers. Though, nothing beats the ol' freeze-frame and screen-cap. :)

Oh! I'm doing the Elephant Melody dress, the final dress that she wears during the play. I thought it was so beautiful!!! ^_^ Anywho, that is going to be my greatest accomplishment

Ahhh, thank you Serifita:)

Actually I have a subdomain just for MR costuming:
http://moulinrouge.glittersweet.com

If you don't find info there then it's only just become available.. erm.. or I haven't updated.. sigh... there are a few sites I have neglected to add... ah well.. I could do that now...

I'm recovering from having my wisdom teeth pulled and should really be working on my BD costume again.. all I need to do now is extend the fringing on the tails.. but I am putting it off as it's *soooo* boring;)

Mind you I should also be doing my garb for the next few SCA events here, and I'm putting that off too.

Who knew sedative would last so long in the body;)

I don't know if anyone has said it (I am way too lazy to read it all), but if you do rent/have the DVD, on the second disc, there is the costume designs. There you can see many of the can-can dancers' outfits in their original designs as well as a picture of their actual costume. They are awesome to look at.

Thanks:)

I am just stubborn at times;) It took so long to do the beading I had to make myself do just a row a day to break it up into doable lots;)

I'm going to have to do that for the fringing too I feel...

But I'm so side tracked with histical costuming right now it may be on the back burner for a while;)

Well it depends on whether I go to a convention in September or April next year as to when I rush the job;)

I did reply to this already but as I'm sewing again...

I don't have patience;) I've finally put the top row of fringing on the atils and now have to bind the tops of the tails, and extend the fringing... very very very slow going.

I think because it's at that nearly there stage that it's so hard to keep going;)

Mind you I'm handsewing a costume at the same time to I'm getting a bit bored of holding a needle and thread;)

Hmm, never really considered it...

But I had heard plans that they were going to RHPS it, but nothing since.

No, prolly wouldn't do Duke of Worchester....he kinda reminds me of a ferret....kinda hard to believe it's the same guy as Drac, ne? :woah:

Satine

lol! Thanks Michie:) I actually have to finish them this month as I'm going to wear them to a convention.

I suppose today is as good as any to start...

If anyone here has a costume from it I haven't linked to please let me know as I have to update all my resourse pages;)

After the convention I'd better have lots of piccies.

right now I'm losing weight as I'm no longer the same size I was when I originally made the costume;) I have 43 days... I can do it;)

I didn't know he played dracula in something! It's like Audrey was Farimir in LotR;)

He actually mentioned the Duke being like a rodent, twitchy, toothy.... so ferret is a pretty close way to imagine him;)

lol! That was my wee page I put together mostly for the Windmill;) But all of a suden I found it cropping up in search engines;)

I need to dump a lot of the other stuff on the site as it was created back in the dark early days of my time on the net;)

As for the Satine costume... it's getting there... slowly;) But I have one row of extended fringing done for one side;)

Onlt another 7 total to go;)

lol! I wondered why I recognised your user name;)

Yes, this is Neimhaille;) Thanks:) I do feel a bit bad actually putting the clips online. No one has complained yet... I hope;)

It's the Black Diamonds costume.

It's sitting the louge telling me off for not working on it for the last few days... I think I'll make a concerted effort to work on it today.

Hey, I have blown my budget for this week and next, so I may as well stay at home and finish it eh;)?

That's awesome!

I've been toying with the idea of singing "Your Song" or "Come What May" for a recital... but the costume shouldn't be hard at all... either get a tux, or some grey sweats, I think...
