View Full Version : Alucard costume tips

Sorry if this has been answered already (it probably has) but are there any tips for someone considering cosplaying as Alucard from Hellsing? I know he has the red hat/coat combo going as well as the gun and the gloves, but I need a clear picture of the symbols on the gloves. Any other comments or things I need to know? Thanks alot.

have you checked ebay they have the gloves and usually they want you to see that they did a decent job on the symbols. Otherwise look for the liscenced ones i have seen the pics in several online stores and they give you a decent closeup they were all sold out every time i saw them so a picture is probably about all you would get from the stores. I am sure there are some closeups in the show but i havent gotten around to buying the rest, only dvd one.

Wow, some nice details on the second link Amazon. This would be my first time cosplaying anyone and I am still not sure if I should. Since I am pretty low in the cash department and dont know any sites that have Alucard costumes for sale. I searched for hours online but couldnt find anything. :( I might just wind up making the whole thing myslef, trying my best not to make it too cheesy looking

Somewhere online there is a very detailed diagram of hte symbol, I'll see if I can find the site...
If you're low on cash, making it yourself is definitly the way to go. You can probably buy the undersuit (its a full, double breasted undersuit) at a thrift store or somesuch without it being too off. You should be able to do most of the coat off of a pattern. Take a good long search of the discount tables at Hancock and Walmart, you'd be amazed the great stuff you can find!
As for the hat, really your best bet is to make it yourself. I'd suggest taking a look at the costuming site over at slashmistress for help on that one.

the wonders of Google image search..
hellsing + gloves

but as for making them, any costume/humor store should have a pair of white gloves, then draw very carefully with a sharpie.

I'm kinda glad that Intgral's gloves don't have any markings on them.
Edit: oh! 'nother idea, if you can manage to find a pic of just the markings, and iron on transfer would be the easiest. I think you could get the paper needed to do that at office depot even. And two markings should definitely fit on one 8x11 page, so it shouldn't be too expensive or anything.

WHOA, thanks an entire bunch, it even has the Anderson flyers! My brother might cosplay him and that would be the bomb diggity to print out a whole bunch of those and throw them everywhere!

Kylash would I be right to assume that's your site?

if so, it's really damn helpful! *^_^* Go you!

Sorry to be a bother, but I need some info on an Alexander Anderson costume. My brother said he'd cosplay with me if I helped him with the costume, but I cant seem to get anything remotely close to anything on search engines. They must not like me or somthing. Again, sorry for being such a pest and I hope you still can forgive me

^ his weapons.

And that's about all I can muster, well, unless I linked you to my search page, the images showed up in their thumbnails, but I couldn't get to their actual page, so if you can deal with just thumbnails, do a google image search for Hellsing + "alexander anderson" and that should get you something.

If all else fails, just watch the episode he shows up in over and over and over again, use the pause button, and take notes.

hope it helps! And where are you and when are you planning on doing this, 'cause I'm working on an Integral costume, and a group would be pretty fun.

I don't usually suggest using other people's costumes as references.. but for a rough idea of what you're trying to do, you might put "anderson" in on a cosplay.com search.

Well Amazon, I hope to be done in time for AnimeReactor 2003 in October. And I agree, a Hellsing group would be pretty cool. Hope to see you there. :)

Alas, I'm stuck on the west coast. Not enough money to go to cons out of state (yet! someday...*^_^*)

well, hope you get you and your brother's costumes together in time, I would like to see them when you're done!

Hrmmm, I took your advice Amazon and watched the Hellsing DVDs again and took notes. But while watching, I noticed that Anderson has something written on his left glove. I know it says "Jesus Christ is in HEAVEN" on the right one, but I couldnt quite make out what it said on the other one. Is it the same thing, or am I just going crazy? I can clearly see somthing on this picture.

WOW this are really good hellsing costumes. Is there way i can keep a theard in my CP without writting in it........im a newbie

07-08-2003, 02:50 PM
this may be off the subject but im pretty sure in hellsing his name is spelled arucard am i right?

07-08-2003, 09:48 PM
That depends on what you mean by "In Hellsing." If you mean, "in the Hellsing manga" then the answer is, his name is spelled in katakana. Personally I prefer Alucard, since I think there is a definite reference to him being related to Dracula. Some people who think they know a lot about Japanese use Arucard. For the part of the American translation, I'm fairly certain I've heard Integra say "Alacard" in the dub. All in all, I wouldn't worry about spelling any more than you would capitalization.
