I know the costume looks simple, but simple to me (a girl with barely any sewing abilities) is actually very hard...

So any tips to help with making? What I should use, and where to find? And also...what about an Umbrella with a Jack'O'Lantern on it? How should I do that?
:]

Ok, the first thing you should do is post a reference picture. I know a lot of people think that everyone and their brother has seen D.Grayman, but I, for one, have not and can't help unless you post some references.

S'all good. :)

Anyway, you might be able to find most of this costume in a Goodwill. Granted, some of it may need modifying. For example, you could find a plain white button up shirt at Goodwill, cut of the ends of the sleeves and shirt to make the triangle edges, then add ruffles to the front.

Alternatively, you can find patterns for this costume pretty easily, but again, they may need modifying. For the shirt, you could use Simplicity pattern 3723. And for the skirt, you could use a pleated skirt pattern (which I don't have the time to look for right now).

My recommendation for Road is to get all the details down to that very unnoticeable crucifix necklace and the black nail polish. I notice a lot of last-minute cosplayers do her the night before a con and as horrible as it is, she gets looked down upon :[

For Lero (if your going to make him) my friend used model magic and just painted over it and slapped it onto a pink frilly umbrella :] The more props you have for Road the better! Like her candlestakes or anything you can find that she uses in the series :]

Good luck! Glad to see more cosplayers interested in D. Gray Man ^^

Easy ruffles: look for ruffled quilt binding. It'll spare you having to make it yourself, and it's even got bias-tape on the ends so it doesn't fray and sews down easily. I also found a narrower one, more like box pleats, for the collar, because pointy-shirt Road has a standing collar rather than one that folds down, and it's ruffled on the ends.

My Lero I made based on the official store one, which was on a yellow parasol. I bought a kid's yellow safety umbrella (!) because it had the right shape, made Lero out of felt, stuffed him, added the spiky bit and the face and the sweatdrops, and then used Gorilla Glue to firmly latch him into place. He was also secured to that pointy collar that's just below him on the umbrella with some stitches. I don't have a picture of my finished v2 Lero, but here (http://www.firechildren.net/darkfire/cosplay/road/wip/lero_v2_02.jpg) he is pre-details. (This (http://www.firechildren.net/darkfire/cosplay/road/wip/lero-done.jpg) was my first one, and was made on a plain yellow umbrella because I couldn't find anything else.)

If you're buying a shirt, look for one with the bust seams. It's another one of those details often overlooked.

Road's costume has already been discussed on the DGM thread...if you have more questions they'll be able to help you out...
