Posted this on the wrong thread before, so posting here nao x]
I've never made jacket pieces or coats or anything of that sort yet so I'm looking for what fabrics to use.
I'm planning on doing Jin Kisaragi from BlazBlue: http://www.blazblue.com/wp-content/gallery/characters-full/Jin%20full.jpg
Any fabric suggestions for his outfit are welcome! Thanks :)

This costume doesn't seem to require any special type of fabric, everything looks smooth and matte. I would just use some sort of cotton blend. Something reasonable stiff but easy to work with.

Ok, since the jacket really is the focus I'll just talk about that. I would go with a sportswear solid b/c 1. their slightly heavy but still stiff and 2. they come in 60" bolts of fabric, so you have more to play with. I'm guessing the parts your not sure on are how to make it come out from the waist down and the jacket-shoulder-wispy-parts (I'm going to refer to them as shoulder pieces b/c what DO you call those things?!?) If you want them to be slightly stiff I would line everything with heavy interfacing like pellon.. namely below the waist and in between two layers for the "shoulder things." More on shoulder things: now if you want it to REALLY stick out, you may consider either putting wire in the seams, or fosshape. Look more into this link (http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=112966&highlight=fosshape) if your more interested in having them stiff. I think a little medium/heavy interfacing would be good enough.
