Hello! A friend and I have decided we want to cosplay Zuko and Mai from Avatar, and then we got the idea to do a 'traditional' formal-type version, an original design, sort of based off of Avatar's clothing theme.

Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

Also, while I know my way around a sewing machine and such, I'm not particularly educated on fabric types. What sort of fabrics would you recommend? We know we're going to use brocades on the obi and a few other minor details, but what fabrics would we use for the flat colors that wouldn't look tacky next to the brocades? Silk?

Silk or a really nice Casa satin. I think this is a cute idea and you won't have any problems being recognized, especially if you stick together. Go for it =3

I'm the above-mentioned Zuko, and rather than spammenating the boards, I figured I'd just stack this request here--

Does anyone know any good websites that might show how to tie different knots, specifically because I've got Zuko's 3rd season belt in mind and am not sure how to replicate that effect.

Thanks for the feedback, NecroticNymph!

We appreciate as much help as we can get with this.
