For the benefit of you cosplayers coming down next weekend, I thought I would outline our weapons policy so you can be better prepared for it.

Generally we rely on the common sense of you good folk who cosplay. We only have a few cardinal rules:

1. All REPLICA GUN weapons will carry a peace bond mark. We will use orange or blue tape on the barrel of guns and such.

2. Edged metal weapons of any type must never be brandished in the open. They will have pull ties attached to the hilt so they can't be removed..mostly adressing swords here. Those photo shots that we often see are okay though. Just keep the sword out as briefly as possible

3. There may be sword dealers present selling swords this year. All purchases must go directly to your room or vehicle.

4. The LA County Sherriff will be patrolling the venue. They have asked us to pass on to you all not to point these weapons at them. Could ruin your day, you know. You'll be cosplayng in bright green clothing!

That's pretty much it. Bokens are okay, only don't get playful with them around the wrong crowd...bonking someone you don't know with one might get you in traction :p

Ah, that's where the commom sense part kicks in. We are only talking about guns that LOOK like real guns. Plastic or metal replicas and such. Why tape up an obvious prop????? All Hail the Gunblade!

o.o; Would a collapsable tai-chi sword be okay? It's that thin metal kind, that dosn't have an edge, (it's all rounded) but also dosn't have a sheath ._. *ponnndeerrrrr*
