View Full Version : Simon's goggles

I was thinking about doing a pre-timeskip Simon from Gurren Lagann for ACen this year. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what to use for his goggles. I was thinking about maybe using model magic and sculpting it then covering it in red fabric or something. This is pretty much my first time making any kind of prop or accessory, so I was just wondering if any one else knew of any other materials that might be better to use.

i'll be using foam for mine. (you know, like for children's craft projects.) and acetate for the lenses. that way, i know it'll conform to my head.

Thanks so much for the tip. I'll look into the acetate and stuff.

For mine, I'm thinking of using this leather-like material. I'm not really sure how to describe it. I made most the strap of my 4th squad bag out of it: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1801650/
I had put craft foam on top, but it has gotten quite a few dents in it and I'll probably remake it without the foam next time. So, I don't think foam is a good idea. As for the lenses, the best thing to do would be to find actual bike goggle lenses. I don't think acetate would look quite right.
