My school's anime convention (AUSAM-Con at Auburn University) will be doing a steampunk theme for next year's con. I'd really love to cosplay within the theme since I'm going to be staffing; I have ideas for a general steampunk idea, but I can't help but want to morph an anime character into a steampunk setting.

Does anyone have any ideas as to which (female) anime characters would look best in steampunk wear? Or just in Victorian wear in general? Preferably blonde, but any hair color will do, since I'll pretty much be creating this whole costume from scratch so what's another $30-$40 for a wig? xD

P.S.: for those of you who don't know what steampunk is, it's a fusion of Victorian-era clothing with mechanical designs and pieces, like cogs/gears, lots of copper, and goggles.

How about someone from Steamboy? I think that would be easiest.

Kuroshitsuji is already set in Victorian times.

Thanks for your suggestions. I haven't heard of either of those series so I'll check them out.

Well, Steamboy is steampunk, so you wouldn't have to change anything.^^ Last Exile is also a good steampunk anime.

Any Final Fantasy girl would probably work well with steampunk, and you could probably pull it off with characters from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (Sakura especially, since she's fairly recognizable due to her hair). Trinity Blood would also probably steampunk well, since it already has a semi-Victorian feel.

I was thinking either Aerith or Ashe as steampunk; both seem to fit the type fairly well. Aerith's outfit may be easier to "convert," per se, but Ashe matches my hair/eye color better.

D.gray man is set in the 11th century. I could see some of it set to steam punk.

Actually, I think D. Gray-Man is set in an alternate Victorian time period, so it would probably transfer to steam punk really well. Actually...I should remember that for future use. xD

And gosh, a steampunk Aerith would be so cool.

Maybe Rosette from Chrono Crusade? It's set a bit after Victorian times, but you could bring it back, I suppose? xD Some of the stuff in there is already a bit steamy. : D (some of the guns, gadgets and whatnot)

And she's blonde! : D
