Welcome to Raleigh NC. They have a Few of them hotels since normally the Biggest thing that comes to Raleigh, I would say is the State Fair. I'm not sure about the hotels and why there are so few. I think Charlotte, Wilmington, Morhead (Spelling) city and the Military bases Have more hotel choices. Remember Animazement was/is a small time con. :bigtu:

There are a few hotels in the convention area, but as the renewal of raleigh downtown is still going on there hasn't been much call for numerous hotels, the two new ones along with the RCC were a huge step up. Sadly both of those hotels are full because of the convention and have been since at least febuary...

click "search near by" on the map and type in hotels for all the area hotels

Downtown Raleigh is a LOT better than it used to be. I work as a paralegal, so I am downtown often to file paperwork at the courthouse. =)

When I first started working at the firm a couple years ago there was only the Marriott, the courthouse/downtown public parking deck was three stories, and there was no convention center. The convention center is new and very nice, the public parking deck is less than a block away and is nine floors, and there is a new hotel nearby (I am not sure the name, I just know it's really shiny!). As for me; I live about 15 minutes away and I'm making my husband take me back and forth so I don't have to drive or park. It might be only $8 or so a day, but I still loathe spending more than I have to!

I hope to see you all there (I'll be out of town Friday, but I'll be there Saturday and Sunday) =D

What do you mean by hotel events? like weddings? Only the hotels could answer that question.

Highly doubt that their will be. I think that there is actully 2 other events happening at the Convention Center same time as AZ though.

There are always small private drinking or gaming parties, but those are usually friends only things that people put on in their hotel rooms.
