Hellooo~

So, I'm on a search for good armor making tutorials using Wonderflex and/or craft foam. I've found a couple, but I'm wondering what other links/tips/tutorials give me. The more I fid makes things so much easier on me. XD

Have you looked at this board yet? The very first topic is a list of tutorials. http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=84955

I did. I skimmed it and saw only things for weaponry and other props. Not really anything for armor. Though I've also tried the links for the materials. Still looking...

I used most of craft foam for my armor
but for bulking and detailing etc
Craft foam by itself isn't very strong
you should look into styrene! it's $43 for 5 GIANT SHEETS. srsly those sheets will last forever. unless you're making a gundam or whatnot !

What exactly do you need to know about armor? How it's made? How it attaches to your clothes? Amethyst Angel's tutorial is the best online.

I have been using wonderflex- its expensive but worth every penny for armor. I cut all my shapes out in craft foam first.

If you are new to armor making here are some historic patterns that can give you a base to start from:

Now I HATE working with friendly plastic and gesso to cover the grids on the wonderflex. It drives me NUTS to work with both products. I've been experimenting with Rust-oleum's Primer/Sealer. (I got it from Autozone) It takes 3 coats, sanding in between, to make my armor as smooth as a baby's bum. From there it's paint, seal (I'm using a pour on acrylic this time) and attach to arming jacket/knee pads.
