I personally thought it was boring...and the rave sucked ASS. -_- But hentai twister was fun! :D

Oh, and here's what I was wearing:

Friday: Sort of a ghetto Fuu... it consisted of white skintight pants, a green pleated skirt, a white button-up shirt, and a pair of mary-janes.

Saturday: Light purple pajamas for the beginning of the day, then I changed into a black one-piece swimsuit with a sort-of skirt wrapped around my waist, and then I changed into my ghetto Fuu again for the rave (which sucked)

Sunday: Cheongsam (Chinese dress) with my white pants

I was there for most of the day on Saturday and I thought the hotel was in a poor location and that it was too small. Overall I wasn't all too happy with the con.
Cons are always cool in some ways though, and I always have fun no matter what, but AFO just seemed smaller this year.
Maybe its just me.

i think this was the worst afo ever. the hotel...ok when we first drove up i was like wtf!? and it depended like where your room was...then u would have to walk a long way. but still they should've just kept it at a regular hotel. and the "discount" prices...wasn't worth it...who would stay there for the regular price? not me. even tho the outside scenery was good and the furnature was compy in the lobbys. yea...it did get smaller this yr. and i was looking toward forward to this one. not that many costumes either. hmmm...some of the good parts....

1: Chris Patton (don't get me started)
2: Stripping Vash...I got to talk to him..he is soo awesome! ^___^ (looks at her kitty...don't u dare knock over my vash keychain!!)
3: saw some friends from past afos
4: Am I just the girl with the "burger hat" i did wear it ...just not sat and sun...I wanted to! but i was just too tired to go to the car and get it
5: hentai twister! yea i got to spin. yaoi twister...i came just in time to for that.

sorry this is kinda long, this is kinda my con report.

all around ppl r like...u susumari? yeess.. lol. but it's all good, the burger hat gave it all away. but hmm, friday and sunday i was really no one...just a person with a white face...curly pink wig..no big with my friend. hey so what if no pool party...hey i wasn't even going to go myself. (shrug)

yea...that's cool that we got meet arisa...i really didn't know how u looked like..but that's all good. god did that one round of twister take forever.

I dunno...this is my first con. I thought it was cool, i was by myself on Friday. On saturday, I was wearing normal clothes with a Sanosuke jacket on and I was with some friends from school.
Luffy, Usopp(people thought he was Pinnochio), cat girl with purple leash, Brandy(game over X-2 Yuna), Dylan(girl with "Property of Knives -sama" sign), and two other people.
I liked the AMV contest...."Dancin' Fool" Vash...lol I loved that one!
erm..later then!

Some discount the rooms where still 85.00 a night not to mention all the additional room tax and other BS charges they addd to it each night, For 2 nights our hotel bill was $217.00, and yes you had to walk everywhere to just get to the con area itself, and the times it rained it definitly wasn't a fun walk...I hope the spot next year is a hell of alot better...

Hehehe, I parked next to a door in the con area and did not move my car at all!

Anyhow, I turned Arisa into Kuu on Friday.

I liked the con for the most part. My bill for one night was over 100 bucks. Next year I am commuting if it is at the same hotel, since I am exactly an hour away.

I did go to a lot of panels and events. Quickdraw was fun, but I was too starved by the time round 3 came by. Cosplay skits were fun, but I am just FED UP with the stripping. And I have been told that due to negative feedback from pretty much everyone, the gong is GONE from Florida cons.

The rave's music stunk. I am not a night person.

Overall it was a lot of fun! :)

But like everyone else I though the hotel was horrible. My friend who came later Sat morning had to park all the way on the very far edge of the hotel parking lot :/ The hallways were super small with people sittin around and people taking pictures you couldn't move around at all and it was like 20 degrees warmer. We just kept on hiding out in the main ballroom to work on our costumes since it was much nicer in there ;)

Everytime I went to the game room it seemed like it could not fit in another person so didn't get to play any games :(

Had fun though. It was great to see everybody. Can't wait till the next Con! :)

Well, this was my first con. I didn't know what to expect and I felt really out of place. I didn't get all of the anime related jokes.

I enjoyed watching some of the AMVs and seeing everyone's costumes. The cosplay was cool. I didn't care for the disqualifying of the last act though.

I do agree that the hotel was small. Not much room to just sit back and relax.

I liked the location because my friends stayed there for MegaCon 2002 and I thought it was a nice little place. My only complaint is that it was too hot!!! They should have needed icesilces hanging because that would have been a better temperature for us cosplayers. Sure I was in building 4 on the other side of the hotel, but I didn't mind the walk. I liked the exercise!

That Hotel was just a awful place to hold a convention like this. If it wasn't the rain (that's florida) it's going to be the heat that kills. To top that off, the location of the hotel was a_ss. Great idea to hold it at a busy as it is already intersection of International Drive and Sand Lake road =P

The convention itself was decent. The previous years (Afo1-3) were better. Hopefully they'll learn from this year.

I'll be honest, I didn't like the convention all that much. I had a great time though, namely working for HoA. That was just a ball. I did enjoy hanging with friends and the cosplay.

I saw beautiful costumes Sunday, very very impressed with everyone's workmanship. I only wish I could've been there to see the costume contest. ;.; But alas they closed the dealer room and I had to work still.

Ameria

Woo, I definitely had fun, but I do admit I didn't care for the hotel. It was a pretty long walk from my room to the con area and the heavy rain made me fear for my costumes and wigs. I also really didn't like the disqualification of the last skit, but I can't completely hate them for doing that because I was sitting behind 2 very sweet little girls. However, I had heard that everyone in the cosplay had to run through their skits beforehand so I'm wondering how they got on stage if it was a disqualification.

On a lighter note, as an original member of the B.P.F., I'm happy to hear that so many people enjoyed our table and the Hentai/Yaoi Twister. XD To anyone who was at the Integral Hellsing wedding, thanks for making it a big success! I was happy to be your eccentric DJ/wedding singer Shuichi. XD For anyone who wasn't there, you missed the -real- dance party before the rave. We should have just dimmed the lights and cranked up the volume, would have been much better. ^~

But anyway I had a good time. Hail all the other One Piece cosplayers, you guys rule! *was the "Will fight pirates for meat" Luffy* XD Also, the Gravitation cosplayers. ^_^ I didn't see a same costume Shuichi anywhere, all unique and kickass if I do say so myself. >D As for my Friday night Kodama getup...too many people wanted to kill the Kodama! That's genocide, people! Hidoi yo!! ;.;

...And since this post is -way- too long already, I'll wrap it up 1/0 style.
So, in conclusion:

Spread out hotels are a pain,
Cosplayers are really fun people to hang out with,
And flaming shounen-ai/yaoi haters can bite me.

No problem! Another friend of mine had all her stuff (2 suitcases!) in there at one point in time. And I hope our skit in the cosplay contest lightened everyone's spirits for a time at least! That was our main goal-to make everyone happy and laugh their pants off.

Ameria-Chan: Were you sitting in fron of the "Tomoes"? Because I think the two "sweet little girls" might have been Elyssa and Julina (Julina was dressed like Sumomo). If it was: they are the sweetest and have the nicest parents and the CUTEST baby brother! *sigh* I love chibis!

i think it was the worst convention this summer. the amv contest sucked ass (a whole hour of drama followed by a dbz video) i litterly played blackjack on my cell phone 1000 times and if you dont belive me chck my records. and i think the hotel was just awful. my friend had her room in the 11th building and it took us like 15 minutes to get there and it was either hot ,or wet and the rain ruined some of our costumes. the best part of the convention was the dealers room which was HUUUUUGE! i got so much stuff! and it was big enough so we didnt get jam packed like at the other cons. but i think metrocon was the best all summer.

Ok, just my responses to a few things. I am not a spokesperson from AFO, far from it, I was just a special guest they brought out to entertain you guys, and feel I should throw my 2 cents in as well :)

"I personally thought it was boring...and the rave sucked ASS"

Well, thankfully it wasn't a rave! The dance was all requests, and anyone could go up and ask for something. They had over 400 songs, so a good chance at least an artist you liked would have been on there :). Plus, the hotel shut us down at 2:00 which sucked, I didn't even get a chance to spin. I know the music was slanted at goth/industrial... but we tried to stress the fact it was all requests and all you had to do was come up and say what you wanted.

"yea...it did get smaller this yr"

Actually, the convention attendance rose. Perhaps the reason it looked smaller was because so many people filled up such a large space! I checked out the convention hall before the con started, and was amazed at how BIG it was. But once it filled up with masses of people, it's amazing how much it shrunk.

The walk was annoying though, especially all decked out and it would beginning raining and yeah... you all know the story. But I know the people who run AFO are wonderful and love hearing suggestions, I'm sure they will take the location into consideration!

"the MC at the costume contest called me "Koalla Suu."

That is completely my fault, and Gary and I prefaced the entire event that we are Americans and will most likely screw up everything put in front of us. Also, we had to read what you guys wrote down, and a lot of it was pretty illegable! It's annoying when the audience yells at us for trying to read the participants handwriting =(.

Plus, the Japanese screw up our words all the time! I mean, c'mon, how many of our words do we see borrowd by them? But you don't see me complaining ^_~

All in all, I think the con went great. A lot of people seemed unhappy, which I wish they would do more than complain on msg boards and write their thoughts to the people that matter. Nothing could have been done about the heat and AC problems, that is beyond even the AFO staff's powers! But you guys could have changed the direction of the dance, and in essence, a convention is what you make of it. If you had fun hanging around your friends, attended panels, participated in events and bought a bunch of cool stuff, then I'd say it was successful.

I sometimes think fans ask for too much, and don't understand what it takes to organize an event of this magnitude.

Actually I enjoyed the dance, what little I was there for it. Unfortunately my eyes began to dialate when someone started taking pictures with a rather powerful flash which blinded me and Harry to the point we had to go.

I did like the eclectic (I so can't spell) choices of music. Hell they played "yo ho ho" which was awesome! I've been to a few dances/raves/etc in my time, and this one was rather fun. I can see the hotel closing at 2am being crap though, but nothing you can really do about that.

I will say that I had more fun at this afo then last years (personal reasons do influence my reasoning mind you). I did enjoy AFO more then metrocon however. I actually won't attend metro if they hold it next year.

It was a heckuva lot more than that, actually. :} I know I personally provided 12 cd's of J-Rock, J-Pop, J-Rap, anime/video game themes & remixes, plus other fun goodies (like the theme from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ride, which seemed to be well-received :D )... figuring an average of 17 songs per cd, that's over 200. "DJ DrunkAss" brough his usual impeccable array of goth/industrial/new wave/random club tunes, which I'd hazard a guess numbered around 400 cd's, not 400 songs. :} Nevermind the fact that we really were playing what people brought to us (like the nifty "Illuminati" remix).

So, yeah... since the "Almost All Request Dance" was advertised *everywhere* as being request-driven, if the "rave" sucked, then the only people to blame are those who weren't requesting what they wanted to hear. :}

The hotel didn't close per se, but that's when they shut down the dance (ostensibly because non-con guests would be disturbed by the noise... which was a logical argument 'till one saw how far away from the convention center any of the hotel rooms were :P ).

Basically, the dance got shafted. The AMV contest ran well over the time when the dance setup was supposed to happen, & several minutes into when the dance itself was supposed to start. By the time the chairs were cleared & the equipment set up for the dance, we only had about an hour & a half before the hotel staff decided they didn't feel like hanging around any longer & shut us down.

::shrugs::

What can ya do? I still had way more fun than I usually do at any of the local "goth" nights.

One group got disqualified because they were acting intoxicated, singing to something about beer of the sorts. The Karen rocks up on stage, gives everyone a lecture about how a chick who was underage drinking got Alcohol poisening, got sent to the hospital.

Your 21 drinking age law sucks. We on the other hand have the luxury of having it at 18 years old. I was lucky on having to be onstage and drinking with the special guests at the Anime Debate too :3
