View Full Version : Raised designs?

I'm cosplaying Ephraim from Fire Emblem (http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8835/ephraim.jpg) and while I've got the amor itself covered (I'm using paper mache, in case it matters), I'm stumped on how to make the raised designs. So far I've found or been able to think of...

-Paperclay, but then it'll be more delicate than I'd like, plus expensive
-Some kind of hosing, but the designs aren't all one width, they have little fancy bits
-Hot glue, but might not look that good
-Foam, I've never worked with it so don't know much about this one

Any suggestions?

There is only one thing I can think to use either use sculpty clay from wal-mart or a place like that, or get a box of red oil based clay and sculpt it onto the armor I've seen a lot of medivel armorers use this for designing thier armor.

Are you talking about the gold designs? I think craft foam is your best bet for that. Most of the armor Ive seen with raised designs have been made out of it.

Epoxy Sculpt is the best. You can only get it online but it is like a clay that you can mold. It is epoxy so it dries hard and then you can sand and paint it. I used it for a mask and it worked well. It even smells like cornchips LOL.
