Heh. Yup. My group and I have come to the conclusion that anytime we go ANYWHERE it is okay to cosplay if we feel like it. We also cosplay to school on occasion... We haven't done anything really spectacular yet (aside from some j-rock stuff), but maybe someday! Cosplay... it's not just for conventions anymore!

hehe ^^ that's cool! I did visit one of my friends at her school in cosplay ( she cleared it with the teachers os it's cool) ^^ it was interisitng to see what looks you get at a school in cosplay hehhe ^^;; but itw was fun!.

I know whatcah mena... already in SF.. we have a nice ..growing section of cosplayers in the annual Cherry Blossom Parade ^_^. and I'll probably be one of the few " real" cosplayers in the Bay to Breaker's race next year ^_^. ::hopes it doesn't rain like it did this year :: ^^;;

OMG! What cosplayer doesn't go around outside of cons in costume? Most of the clothes I wear, people think I'm wearing a costume anyways... But yeah, I practically cosplay everywhere I go. I'm making plans to go to the mall in costume when I finish Voice. Just the other evening I was at Denny's with some friends dressed in our faire get-up. (i.e. I was dressed as an elf warrior. You should have seen the people's faces! XD They'd turn and accidently bump into me or something... "I'm sorry" ::turn::sees elf ears:: O.O# "Oh my. ..."). Lemme see what else... I wore my Mad Hatter costume in Las Vegas with the make-up and everything... oh geez... when I wasn't in a casino the people were all "What the....??? O.O#;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;" (in the casinos no one really noticed XD! Someone thought I worked there and of course I pretended like I did because that's how strange I am!) And there were many other cosplaying experiences like those but... I don't have enough time to go into detail on any of them... :crylaugh:

:devil:

In the HS where I study there is a day where all the students from the 3rd year wear costumes or what ever they wanted to. That is my favourite day. I was there w/ my Toguro costume (very simple one) but the only problem was to try figure out who was cosplaying (since there are some cosplayers in my school only a few show up w/ costumes). The only problem was that one of the security guys thought I wasn't a student and ... well ... (I think you can imagine the confusion).

One of my teachers actually said "I just love your costumes" a few months ago. I said "oh, but these are my normal clothes" and then she went away... I've been attacked by anything from talent agents to French tourists (really, just the other day) about my everyday clothes...

Last year at AX, my dad and I had to go to Home Depot to get some supplies... I was wearing my Marion costume at the time, and it's so much trouble to get into, I didn't wanna bother changing... So anywho, when we went in, I tell you, NO ONE in the entire store looked at me. XD I never saw a single person even glance at me, except for one little girl. And she just stared and stared and STARED.... Probably thought I was a birthday clown or something. XD

The only time I've really worn an anime costume not at a con is at Halloween, and I get weird looks even then ^_^. Last Halloween I had this 3-year-old child attached to the hip because she was fascinated with my face paint (little kids are so kyoote!). Every time I get a chance to cosplay outside a con, it gets ruined ~~;;. I was supposed to walk down the Strip in costume for a friend's Sociology project, but I was rejected :P.

Oh! But when I get in costume to take pics, weird things usually happen. I was at the park taking photos of Celes, and this guy pulls up in his car. He looks out his window, beckons to me, and licks his lips. Needless to say, he got the bird XD.

French tourists? Really? O_O What kind of clothes do you wear?

I got so many people (some of them 60 year old women) stopping me in the street asking me where I bought the leather military hat for my Rosiel costume (it didn't fit in my suitcase so I wore it on the way to the con). Everyone loved it. I was so surprised... I mean it looks like something out of a WWII movie. LOL

Which makes me think of a story... a friend of mine (she's asian) had cosplayed as Trowa in his 1999 calendar outfit (green military) and some guy stopped her in the street and started talking to her in German. She was so freaked. LOL.

> So anywho, when we went in, I tell you, NO ONE in the entire store looked at me.

Were they avoiding looking at you?

Ack, poor Tenshi! ;_; What a gross guy. Ugh. >_<;;;

> I mean it looks like something out of a WWII movie. LOL

I LOVE those hats! I have one (not leather), but it's too big on me. ^^; Need to get a smaller one....

> Were they avoiding looking at you?

Hehehe... Yes. XD I look like such a freak in Marion, there is no way anyone could possibly see that and not want to look at it. I guess Marion frightens people. XD

Mine is a little small... I'm worried it might be too tight to be worn with a wig... (I'll be branded by it anyway... I hate tight hats! The bane of buying online and sucking at centimer to inches conversions!)

* reads up at all the posts* LOL man I gotta cosplay out of a con more often ^^.

Then again.. I think I'll cosplay during class one of these days ^^. although it'll kill the effect if I had to carry my back pack around Campus ^^;;;

I've never cosplayed besides at a con (or in my house lol). See, now I feel like I should try it at my college, but no one would think it was odd. Darn school of freaks lol. Although it's been getting more normal, guess it's time I shook things up. I admit I'm a bit scared by the idea of wearing a costume on the NY subway . . . but I may have to this August, lol! OO;;;

Hmm. Now I feel like going to the grocery in costume and scaring the (highly) conservative suburban Midwesterners in my town. *evil grin* This is a 'burb where an underage drinking arrest makes the paper; with something especially strange I might be headline-worthy!

aah ahh ^^. ALthough it'd also be fun to cosplay as Gendo Ikari... sit in the thinking position during the ENTIRE bus ride... and stay there...staring at the driver's mirror.. ^^:; lol

*hears something about Gendo*ears perk up*blinks widely*coughs*and starts using her Rei Ayanami voice and reciting every single line of Rei's there is in EVA... which isn't all that much if you think about it*

I'm surprised Duncan and Neal didn't respond to this thread but we all went grocery shopping in our Battle Royale uniforms. Poor Neal worried the parking attendant so badly with his bloody bandages! She kept asking if he was okay. @_@ Everyone else was not as bloody but the priceless comment came from a fellow shopper:

"Must have been a rough night for you all..."

I was Elegent Gothic Lolita at the time. I dress EGL a lot, so I guess it's normal for me. ^_^ Otherwise, I never really think I look that weird... just because my clothes don't match and my hair is red...

LOL Twink. I just found this post, so I couldn't tell my story.

All us guys were dripping blood, while Lindze and Twinkle were absolutely spotless. Some guy came up and mentioned something to us similar to "Those mean girls rough you poor guys up?"
Heheheh, I loved it.

Twinkle!

Oddest thing I've done? Well, my first costume I make in secret, thinking I was a complete wierdo and that nobody else made costumes except for me. Anywho, the first costume I ever made was that of Sailor Moon (a classic). I had long blonde hair so I looked just like her, and it was great. Posing in front of my mirror proudly at my first creation, I got an urgent phone call that my uncle was in the hospital. Of course I leaped into the car without changing, moon scepter and all, and drove like a mad woman to the hospital. When I got there, it turns out he only broke his toe. The entire family stared at me with my short skirt, red boots, wierd bun hair and moon wand. Needless to say, my family has never let that one go.

*lol* Wow, poor Mei Lan! I think that one takes the cake!

I think most people have gone somewhere in public in their costumes, ne? I mean, how many of us like to take the trouble to get undressed (which may require assistance, if nothing else) just to get food at a local mall/restaurant? Last Sakura con we took the Japanese guests out to dinner at Hooters, and the girls were pretty good about the whole thing, seeing as my bestfriend and I were dressed in Battle Athletes seifuku. When we told the girls who our guests were (creators and such of AIC Studios: Battle Athletes, Tenchi Muyo, Angelic Layer, etc) one girl was like "OMG! I come home from school to watch Tenchi every day!!!" and promptly asked for an autograph. At the con charity auction, we auctioned off Hooters menus with the guests scribblings ^_~

I certainly always like to go out and scare the locals at cons... Going to markets and restaurants outside of the con in costume.

But I've worn costumes regularly -- I've worn Zell and Dominique to school before... I actually got two people to recognize me as Dominique but none as Zell, which I found weird. x_x;

I didn't go to bed last night and now it's really late tonight, so my mind's blanking. ^_^; Geh perhaps I'll edit this later.

aw gee, my friends won't let me wear my costumes out, they threaten to leave me, lol :D
I've always wanted to go play laser tag in costume... that would rock :D but none of my friends will agree to it! bah!
I've worn my princess leia and elf and harry potter costumes out to eat before going to see their respective movies, tho... that was fun XD

It was the Omochabox opening. I went as Neo Princess Mars. Afterwards, my friends and I go back to the apartment. I didn't bring an extra change of clothes. We decide to go to the supermakret. So there I was at the market in my Princess Mars costume. I got some interesting looks...

Then at school...for the most part, it's Kare Kano or Wedding Peach uniforms. I think I did a Kyoko (Rival Schools) one because my CGI skills aren't the greatest.

For homecoming, because our school colors were black and gold, I dressed up as Utena one day. Someone thought I was Sgt. Pepper...

*promptly dies laughing* Aw, now I wish I'd known about cosplay when I was in HS. I think it would have been worth the embarassment factor for the sake of the evil messing with people's sense of reality factor. Well, actually, my friend DID come to the school Halloween as God from Lain . . . XD forgot about that! But it was a school of very strange people, so no one thought it was odd he had electrician's tape in his hair.

I wish we all lived in the same place, now I wanna put on a costume and go to Q-Zar to play laser tag . . .!
