okay thought this may be the safest place to post this
so i'm cosplaying as chiaotzu (dbz)
i was wondering what his jacket/shirt thing was called someone tolled me it was a gi but im pretty sure it isnt?
does anyone know what its called

That's a Chinese-style of clothing. I believe it would be called a men's cheongsam/changshan/qipao (I forget the correct terminology).

Also, a general search for Kung-Fu clothing will probably yield good results.

If you're making it, you might want to base it off of a women's qi pao or chinese jacket pattern. The men's version of qi pao is changshan, but I feel like they're almost always open down the middle =/
